  • Data generated from sensors are exploding with recent development of IoT. This paradigm shift requires various industry fields that demand instant actions to analyze the arising data on a real-time basis, along with the real-time visualization analysis. As the existing visualization systems, however, perform visualization after storing data, the response time of the server cannot guarantee the ms-level processing that is close to real-time. They also have a problem of destroying data that can be major resources as they do not possess the process resources. Therefore, a smart gardening system that applies a real-time visualization algorithm using IoT sensing data under a gardening environment was designed and implement in this study. The response time of the server was measured to evaluate the performance of the suggested system. As a result, the response speed of the suggested real-time visualization algorithm was guaranteeing the ms-level processing close to real-time.

  • This paper presents the fabrication and performance measurement of a temperature sensor array on a flexible substrate attachable to a curved surface using MEMS technology. Specifically, the fabrication uses the well-developed printed circuit board fabrication technology for complex electrode definition. The temperature sensor array are lifted off with a $10{\times}10$ matrix in a $50\;mm{\times}50\;mm$ to visualize temperature distribution. Copper is used as temperature sensing material to measure the change in resistances with temperature increase. In a thermal oven with temperature control, the temperature sensor array is Characterized. The constant slope of resistance change is obtained and temperature distribution is measured from the relationship between resistance and temperature.

  • Sensor data can provide fault diagnosis for equipment. However, the cause analysis for fault results of equipment is not often provided. In this study, we propose an explainable convolutional neural network framework for the sensor-based time series classification model. We used sensor-based time series dataset, acquired from vehicles equipped with sensors, and the Wafer dataset, acquired from manufacturing process. Moreover, we used Cycle Signal dataset, acquired from real world mechanical equipment, and for Data augmentation methods, scaling and jittering were used to train our deep learning models. In addition, our proposed classification models are convolutional neural network based models, FCN, 1D-CNN, and ResNet, to compare evaluations for each model. Our experimental results show that the ResNet provides promising results in the context of time series classification with accuracy and F1 Score reaching 95%, improved by 3% compared to the previous study. Furthermore, we propose XAI methods, Class Activation Map and Layer Visualization, to interpret the experiment result. XAI methods can visualize the time series interval that shows important factors for sensor data classification.

  • The international concern on the inhalable fine dust is continuing to increase. In addition to the toxic properties of the fine dust itself, it can be more dangerous than other environmental factors since the dust pollution is hard to be detected by human sense. Although the information on outdoor air condition can be acquired easily, the indoor dust concentration is another problem because the indoor air condition is influenced by the architectural environment and human activity. It means occupants may be exposed to indoor dust pollution over a long period without being aware. Therefore the indoor dust concentration should be measured separately and visualized as an intuitive information. By visualizing, the indoor dust concentration in each space can be recognized practically in compare with the degree of pollution in adjacent spaces. Besides the visualization outcome can be used as base data for related research such as an analysis of the relation between indoor dust concentration and architectural environment. Meanwhile, with the development of network and micro sensing devices, it became possible to collect wide range of indoor environment data. In this regards, this paper suggests a system for visualization of indoor dust concentration and demonstrates it on an actual space.

  • With the development of smartphones and wearable devices, researches related to platforms that collect lifelogs from these devices and the visualization of the lifelog results have also been advanced. However, the existed researches were impossible to collect data from various devices because they depended on a specific device and platform when transmitting or receiving lifelog data. In addition, they do not provide visualized analysis results of specialized lifelogs in specific areas, such as the users' location information. To resolve the problems, this paper analyzes user location information from the lifelog collection platform and develops the interface and visualization tools for lifelog collection. To do this, we define and analyze the requirements of developing the proposed system. Then, based on the analyzed requirements, this paper develops a lifelog visualization tool using various graphs, maps and the RESTful API interface and shows its implemented results.

  • For many applications particularly in navigation system, a three-dimensional representation improves the usability of information. This paper introduces 3D Graphical User Interface (GUI) of indoor location tracking system, 3D Navigation View. The application provides users a 3D visualization of the indoor environments they are exploring, synchronized with the physical world through spatial information obtained from indoor location tracking system. It adopts widely used Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) to construct, represent, distribute and render 3D world of indoor environments over Internet. Java, an all-purpose programming language is integrated to comprehend spatial information received from indoor location tracking system. Both are connected through an interface called External Authoring Interface (EAI) provided by VRML. Via EAI, Java is given the authority to access and manipulate the 3D objects inside the 3D world that facilitates the indication of user's position and viewpoint in the constructed virtual indoor environments periodically.

  • Visualization requires for effective analysis of the spatial data collected by various sensors. The best way to convey 3D digital spatial information which is modeling of the real world to the users, realistic 3D visualization and display technology. Since most of the display is based on 2D or 2.5D projection to the plane, there is limitation in representing real world in 3D space. In this paper, data from airborne LiDAR for topographic mapping, Flashi-LiDAR as emerging sensor with great potential to 3D data acquisition, and multibeam echo-sounder for underwater measurement, were stereoscopically visualized. 3D monitors are getting popular and could be information media and platform in geoinformatics. Therefore, study on creating 3D stereoscopic contents of spatial information is essential for new technology of stereo viewing systems.

  • The earthquake is a natural disaster causing loss of life or property damage and happens more often in Korea recently. Moreover, considering the increase of massive buildings, it is required to predict and visualize the information of the vibration in a building. In this paper, we developed a prototype framework to visualize the displacement information in the AR environments. In order to avoid the irregular halts of the scene and the unnatural distortion of the object, this framework uses the synchronization method at the scene update time and the interpolation of the sensor data for the displacement of vertices. In addition, we studied displacement estimation methods with the acceleration data to extend this framework to the system with accelerators.
