국립중앙도서관은 이용자의 효율적인 이용과 정보전달을 목적으로 각종 사인(sign)을 설치 운영하고 있다. 이에 이 연구에서는 국립중앙도서관의 기존 사인에 대한 현황 분석과 이용자 및 직원 대상으로 만족도 조사를 실시하였다. 이를 토대로 이용자의 효율적 도서관 이용 안내와 국립중앙도서관 사인시스템의 개선을 위한 운영방안으로 시각적 연속성의 개선, 설치 위치의 변경, 과다한 사인물의 축소, 임시 부착 사인물의 제한, 알아보기 쉬운 내용 등을 제언하였다.

사인은 도시의 이미지를 좌우하는 중요한 요소임에 불구하고 자기 주장과 강조를 우선으로하고 있어 환경을 저해하는 요소로 평가되고 있으며 그 대책마련이 시급한 실정이다. 본 논문의 주제는 인간의 생환경 공간에서 사인이 존재하도록 하는 현상에 대한 연구이다. 문자나 색채를 위주로 하는 시각디자인적 측면 흑은 스트리트퍼니추어 범주에서의 제품디자인적인 측면에서는 최근 일련의 연구가 진행되고있다. 본 연구는 보다 본질적인 측면에서 사인환경을 공간적인 해석과 접근을 통해 해결하고자 한다. 이에 문헌연구 및 사례조사를 통해 사인성에 관한 기능적인 측면을 파악하고, 사인이 갖는 기본적인 조형성의 추구보다는 도시환경의 구성요소라는 차원에서 그 접근방법을 모색하는데 연구의 목적 이 있다. 현재와 같이 강렬한 색채와 과대포장으로 일관되어 있는 사인환경의 문제점을 해결하기위한 개선방안의 일환으로서의 공간적인 측면에서 각 디자인요소별 접근방법을 제시하였다.

The Seoul Metropolitan Subway Corp. have gradually installed screen doors in platforms of 115 subway stations in Seoul on lines 1, 2, 3, and 4. Installation in nine areas among those has been completed and screen doors are being operated as a model operation. Traffic signs should be clear for users. The essential functions of signs should be fully investigated from the aspect of user as well as the visual beauty and recognition. Signs should be able to provide users with information regarding location, position, directions, etc. Particularly, safety and convenient signs should be visually and sensually correlated. However, the entire screen doors in platforms installed in line 2 subway in Seoul are used for commercial advertisement, consequently, the functions and roles as public signs are not fulfilled aggravating inconvenience for users. In this study, cases have been studied to investigate requirements for user-oriented sign system in platform and public sign space to fulfill the functions of sign system in platform. Using an anthropometry approach, the study aimed to obtain the space to install the sign system and to systemize necessary and sufficient conditions for user-oriented system for platform in which screen doors have been installed using. The study suggests fundamental information to obtain the space of public sign system on the entire screen door.

수화 통신은 이종 언어간의 통신 수단으로 사용될 수 있다. 이 논문에서는 3차원 모델을 이용하여 한-일간 수화 통신 시스템을 구현하여 그 가능성을 실험하였다. 실시간 통신을 위하여 통신 시스템을 클라이언트/서버 구조로 하였으며, 지적 통신방식을 도입하였다. 각 클라이언트에 3차원 모델을 준비하여 놓고, 실제의 수화영상 대신에 애니메이션 생성을 위한 파라미터 만을 전송하였다. 클라이언트에서 입력된 문장은 서버로 전송되어 한국 또는 일본 수화 파라미터로 변환한 다음 다시 클라이언트로 전송되어 수화 애니메이션으로 재생된다. 또한 자연스러운 수화 애니메이션을 위하여 감정 표현과 가변 프레임 방식 및 3차 스플라인 보간식을 이용하였다. 실험을 위한 통신 시스템은 윈도우 플랫폼에서 Visual $C^{++}$ 와 Open Inventor 라이브러리를 이용하여 구현하였다. 실험 결과 제안 시스템이 언어의 장벽을 넘을 수 있는 비언어 통신수단으로 이용될 수 있는 가능성을 보였다.

In this paper, we implemented a sign language communication system between korean and japanese using 3D model. Unitl now, we have developed the system through 2D image. The system, however, has some drawbacks base don the limitations of 2D model. Especially it is not comprehensive in the sign language gesture including forward or backward movements becasue it can only display a front view. Therefore, we employed a 3D model for the representation of sign language. The proposed communication system si implemented with windows 95 visual C++ 5.0 imported open inventor library on pentium 233 system. Experimented results show that the 3D system can solve the problems in 2D representation.

본 연구는 한국, 싱가포르, 미국, 일본의 초등학교 교과서에 제시된 모으기와 가르기, 덧셈 및 뺄셈의 도입 단원을 비교하고 분석한 것이다. 분석의 초점은 시각적 모델 및 제시된 문제 상황과의 연결성, 언어적 표현 및 시각적 모델과의 연결성, 관계적 이해 및 추가 활동이다. 분석 결과, 교과서에 따라 문제 상황, 시각적 모델, 언어적 표현이 다르게 구현됨에 따라 연결성도 다르게 나타났다. 각 교과서는 문제 상황의 제시 방법과 순서에서 차이가 있었고, 시각적 모델 측면에서도 하나의 모델을 지속적으로 사용하는 경우와 다양한 모델을 사용하는 경우가 있었다. 언어적 표현 측면에서는 각 교과서 마다 다른 특징이 있었으며, 관계적 이해 측면에서는 모든 교과서가 등호 양변의 값이 같다는 것을 강조하는 활동을 제시하였다. 이와 같은 연구 결과를 바탕으로 덧셈과 뺄셈 도입과 관련된 문제 상황, 시각적 모델의 활용, 언어적 표현 방안 등 후속 교과서의 단원 개발과 관련한 시사점을 논의하였다.

지하공간은 방위감각의 상실에서 오는 위치적 제한으로 인공적 표지환경에 의해 위치 및 행동방향을 결정해야 하는 부정적 환경요소가 많다. 따라서 시각언어로서의 환경그래픽이 대중적 표지기능을 갖기 위해서는 상징적 의미의 기호이론에서 연구되어야 하나 안목의 활용형태가 반복되고 지하철 관리체계의 다원화로 체계적 관리가 소홀하여 시각언어로서의 의미를 잃어가고 있다. 연구의 결과, 형태의 원인으로서 제공되는 시각적 지하 환경요소는 시각언어의 Communication 측면을 충분히 고려한 연구의 기초 위에서 도입, 관리되어야 한다고 보며, 따라서 지하 환경그래픽을 행태 유도 적 표지기능의 기호현상으로 볼 때 통사론적 기호현상과 은유적 표현으로서 화용 론, 활용형태로서의 의미론의 관점에서 연구되어야한다. 특히 색채언어, 형채 언어 등 시각적 환경요소가 내포적 의미의 보편적 표지기능이 되기 위해서는 뚜렷이 구분되는 시각언어가 활용되어야 한다.

This study is intended to analyze the relation between G. D. Weisman's Way finding 4 elements the accessibility and efficiency of consumers as to eternal area for Seoul historical museum. The findings are summarized as the following three aspects. First, G. D. Weisman's Way finding element introduced in this study had a significant impact on visitor satisfaction.. It leads to the following conclusion: The higher the impact is, the greater accessaccessibility and efficiency are. Second, among 4 elements, the factor that had the biggest impact on the accessibility was 'visual-perceptual accessibility'. Thus, 'visual-perceptual accessibility' should be considered first to boost the accessibility to consumers. Third, among 4 elements, the factor that had the biggest impact on the efficiency was 'sign system'. Thus, 'sign system' should be considered first to boost the efficiency to consumers.
