Thomas Harriot has been introduced in middle school textbooks as a great mathematician who created the sign of inequality. This study is about Harriot's symbolism and the theory of equation. Harriot made symbols of mathematical concepts and operations and used the algebraic visual representation which were combinations of symbols. He also stated solving equations in numbers, canonical, and by reduction. His epoch-making inventions of algebraic equation using notation of operation and letters are similar to recent mathematical representation. This study which reveals Harriot's contribution to general and structural approach of mathematical solution shows many developments of algebra in 16th and 17th centuries from Viete to Harriot and from Harriot to Descartes.

The purpose of this study is to semiotically reinterpret the Korean beauty and symbol inhering in the modern clothing of Korean designers as the context of traditional culture through regarding the clothing including hegemony that is controlling the Korean society and culture as a sign. The theoretical framework for analysis was derived from the semiotically analytic methods of F. Saussure and R. Barthes. The results of the study are as follows ; Korean images reflected in the modern clothing designed by Korean designers are humanistic image, environmental-friendly image, totemic and mythlogical image, equal and peaceful image, and metaphorical and metonymical image. Conclusively, developing a creative design based upon the interpretation of our unique and traditional culture, the clothing could be newly made of historical and cultural resources in the modern lives. If so, I think that the clothing will be not only the visual and decorative art, but also an information which contains implication of our culture, and finally can be established.

The traffic accidents of the aged are increasing because old people generally experience a decline of physical functions and judgment but their dependence on automobiles increases. In order to investigate the older drivers' response to traffic signs and surrounding environment according to changing driving brightness, this study measured the visual cognitive behavior, driving behavior, and subjective evaluation while the driving brightness was changed using a driving simulator. Furthermore, the drivers who recognized traffic signs and those who did not were compared. As a result, it was found that some older drivers had declined ability of cognition, some failed to adapt to rapid brightness change even if sufficient attention was given to traffic sign, and some could not safely control the vehicle when approaching intersections. Therefore, the development of support systems for aged drivers in traffic environment is necessary in the future.

The error diffusion algorithm is good for reproducing continuous images to binary images. However the reproduction of edge characteristics is weak in power spectrum an analysis of display error. In this paper an edge enhanced error diffusion method is proposed to improve the edge characteristic enhancement. Spatial gradient information in original image is adapted for edge enhance in threshold modulation of error diffusion. First the horizontal and vertical second order differential values are obtained from the gradient of peripheral pixels(3x3) in original image. second weighting function is composed by function including absolute value and sign of second order differential values. The proposed method presents a good visual results which edge characteristics is enhanced. The performance of the proposed method is compared with that of the conventional edge enhanced error diffusion by measuring the edge correlation and the local average accordance over a range of viewing distances and the RAPSD of display error.

1. Objectives The purpose of these 2 case studies is to evaluate the effects of Gihwangbeakho-tang which is based on the Sasang Constitutional Medicine for the Herpes zoster. 2. Methods We used Visual analogue sign(VAS) and pictures of the affected part for the assessment. 3. Results After two patients were treated with Gihwangbeakho-tang, the vesicles were cleared and the pain was decreased. 4. Conclusions These 2 case studies show an efficient result of using Gihwangbeakho-tang in the treatment of Herpes zoster.

본 논문에서는 동영상 워터마킹에 대한 전반적인 기술과 응용 분야에 대하여 고찰한다. 동영상 워터마킹 기술은 압축영역, 비압축 영역, 실시간 응용 분야 둥으로 나누어 질 수 있다. 동영상의 모든 프레임에 워터마크로 정한 시그네쳐(signature)를 삽입하여 실험한 결과를 보여준다. 워터 마크를 주파수 확산 방식으로 원 영상의 모든 프레임에 삽입하여 워터마크의 세기 변화에 따른 화질을 PSNR로 계산하였고 워터마크 검출은 DCT 계수 합의 부호로 삽입된 시그네쳐를 복원한다. 검출된 시그네쳐의 시각적 상태에 따른 평균 PSNR값의 변화를 보여준다.

본 논문에서는 HMM(Hidden Markov Model)방법에 기초하여 전경과 배경영역 뿐만아니라 그림자 까지도 분할 할 수 있는 교통모니터링 방법을 제안하였다. 움직이는 물체의 그림자는 시각적 추적을 방해하기 때문에 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위한 방법으로 각 화소나 영역을 3개의 카테고리 즉, 그림자, 전경, 배경물체로 분할하였다 교통 모니터링 영상의 경우, 실험결과를 통해 제안된 방법의 효율성을 입증 할 수 있었다.

본 연구의 배경은 공공도서관 사인시스템의 현황과 지속적인 활용에 있다. 수많은 정보 중 필요한 정보를 선별하고 수용하는 것이 중요한 현대사회에서 사인시스템은 원만한 상호작용을 위한 주요수단이다. 특히 복잡한 구조와 공간의 기능을 함께 지니고 있는 도서관에서 정보를 파악하기 위해서 명확한 지각효과를 갖춘 사인의 역할은 무엇보다 중요하다. 이에 따라 본 연구는 이용자가 공공도서관을 이용할 때 어떠한 요소가 정보를 수용하고 시각적으로 인지하는데 많은 영향을 미치는지 알아보고자 한다. 그리고 선정된 도서관을 대상으로 기능 및 시각적 요소에 따라 사례분석을 한 후 이용자 만족도 조사를 실시하여 효과적이고 편리하게 도서관을 이용할 수 있도록 정보를 제시하는데 목적이 있다.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of moxibustion for paitent with Myelopathy hand Methods : A 65-year-old female patient diagnosed with Cervical myelopathy was treated by moxibustion on both hand and neck, from July 17th to July 29th. The improvement of the patient's Myelopathy hand was evaluated based on JOA(Japanese orthopedic score), VAS(visual analog scale), Grips and release test, Finger escape sign, and DITI(digital infrared thermal imaging). Results : After the treatment of moxibustion, the patient's JOA score were not improved, but VAS, Grips and release test, Finger escape sign and DITI were improved. Conclusions : The result suggests that moxibustion of hand and neck is an effective treatment to Myelopathy hand on Cervical myelopathy. But more cases and researches are needed to evaluate the significancy of moxibustion for Myelopathy hand.

공공시설물에서의 사인은 정확한 의미전달을 목적으로 하고 있다. 특히 유도사인의 경우는 우리 주위환경과 루트를 적절히 표시하고 인식시키면서 우리의 행위를 유도해 주고 있다. 그런데 현재의 유도사인은 3차원적 공간의 방향을 2차원적 관점에서 보여주고 있는 것이 대부분으로, 이는 실제의 3차원 공간 속을 이동할 때 혼란을 유발시키는 한 요인으로 간주된 다. 따라서, 본 연구는 현재의 유도사인의 역할을 재 검토해보고 시지각적 측면에서 효율적인 유도사인의 방향을 제시하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 우선, 본 논문에서는 지하철역을 대상으로 한 의식조사를 통해 이용자의 유도사인에 대한 인지적 태도를 알아보았다. 그 결과, 현재 이용되는 역의 유도 사인은 방향정보 전달의 기능이 제대로 수행되고 있지 않으며, 특히 화살표의 표현방법이 재고되어야 함을 시사해 주고 있다. 본 연구는 인간의 공간 인지적 메카니즘을 토대로, 방향 정보 전달에 있어 현행의 2차원적 화살표 표현의 문제점을 고찰한다. 이러한 새로운 모색은 효율적인 유도사인의 구축에 도움이 되리라 생각된다.
