In this paper, O-ring size measurement algorithm based on a small machine vision inspection equipment which can replace a expensive and large machine vision inspection equipment is presented. The small machine vision inspection equipment acquires a image from a CCD camera shooting a measurement plane which located on a back light and the proposed size measurement algorithm is apply to the image. For improvement of size measurement accuracy, camera lens distortion correction and perspective distortion correction are conducted by software technique. Consider O-ring's shape, ellipse fitting model is applied. In order to increase the reliability of ellipse fitting, RANSAC algorithm is applied.
One of the preferred methods that can be used to verify the results of finite element analysis is to measure surface strains of the deformed part for purpose of direct comparison with simulation results. Instead of using the usual manual method the vision-based measurement method is capable of determining surface geometry and strain from the deformed grid pattern automatically with the help of a computer. To obtain strain distribution over an area, the coordinates of such a surface grid are determined from the multiple video images by applying the photogrammetry principle. Methods to improve the overall accuracy of the vision-based strain measurement system are explored and the possible accuracies that can be attained by such a measurement method are discussed. A major emphasis is placed on the initial grid application method its accuracy and ease of subsequent image processing. Finite element analyses of limiting dome height(LDH) test are carried out and the results of them are compared with exsperimen-tal data.
In this work, a metal-ligand solution (Cu-EDTA) was prepared based on the molecular precursor method and the solution was spin-coated onto 3D printed flexible photosensitive resin sheets. After being processed by microwave, a laser with a wavelength of 355 nm was utilized to scan the spin-coated sheets and then the sheets were immersed in an electroless copper plating solution to deposit copper wires. With the help of microwave processing, the adhesion between copper wires and substrate was improved which should result from the increase of roughness, decrease of contact angle and the consistent orientation of coated film according to the results of 3D profilometer and SEM. XPS results showed that copper seeds formed after laser scanning. Using the 3D printed flexible sheets as cathode and galvanized iron as anode, electrochemical machining was conducted.
The safety of structures is closely associated with the structural out-of-plane behavior. In particular, long and slender beam structures have been increasingly used in the design and construction. Therefore, an evaluation of the lateral and torsional behavior of a structure is important for the safety of the structure during construction as well as under service conditions. The current contact measurement method using displacement meters cannot measure independent movements directly and also requires caution when installing the displacement meters. Therefore, in this study, a vision-based system was used to measure the in-plane and out-of-plane displacements of a structure. The image processing algorithm was based on reference objects, including multiple targets in Lab color space. The captured targets were synchronized using a load indicator connected wirelessly to a data logger system in the server. A laboratory beam test was carried out to compare the displacements and rotation obtained from the proposed vision-based measurement system with those from the current measurement method using string potentiometers. The test results showed that the proposed vision-based measurement system could be applied successfully and easily to evaluating both the in-plane and out-of-plane movements of a beam including twisting rotation.

This paper presents a machine vision system, which inspects the measurement of the ALC block on a real-time basis in the production process. The automatic measurement system was established with a CCD camera, an image grabber, and a personal computer without using assembled measurement equipment. Images obtained by this system was processed by an algorithm, specially designed for an enhanced measurement accuracy. For the realization of the proposed algorithm, a preprocessing method that can be applied to overcome uneven lighting environment, boundary decision method, unit length decision method in uneven condition with rocking objects, and a projection of region using pixel summation are developed. From our experimental results, we could find that the required measurement accuracy specification is sufficiently satisfied by using the proposed method.
Various types of sensors are used at industrial sites to measure vibration. With the increase in the diversity of vibration measurement methods, vibration monitoring methods using camera equipment have recently been introduced. However, owing to the physical limitations of the hardware, the measurement resolution is lower than that of conventional sensors, and real-time processing is difficult because of extensive image processing. As a result, most such methods in practice only monitor status trends. To address these disadvantages, a high-resolution vibration measurement method using image analysis of the edge region of the structure has been reported. While this method exhibits higher resolution than the existing vibration measurement technique using a camera, it requires significant amount of computation. In this study, a method is proposed for rapidly processing considerable amount of image data acquired from vision equipment, and measuring the vibration of structures with high resolution. The method is then verified through experiments. It was shown that the proposed method can fast measure vibrations of structures remotely.

End milling is available for machining the various shape of products and has been widely applied in many manufacturing industries. The quality of products depends on a machine tool performance and machining conditions. Recognition characteristics of the cutting condition is becoming a critical requirement for improving the utilization and flexibility of present-day CNC machine tools. The measurement of tool wear would be performed by coordinate-measuring machine(CMM). However, the usage of CMM requires much time and cost. In order to overcome the difficulties, on-line measurement(OLM) system was applied for a tool wear measurement. This study shows a reliable technique for the reduction of machining error components by developing a system using a CCD camera and machine vision to be able to precisely measure the size of tool wear in flat end milling for CNC machining. The CCD camera and machine vision attached to a CNC machine can determine tool wear quickly and easily.

A laser-vision-based height measurement system is developed and implemented for the inspection of two-step variable valve lift module assemblies. The proposed laser-vision sensor module is designed based on the principle of laser triangulation. This paper summarizes the work on 3D point cloud data collection and height difference measurements. The configuration of the measurement system and the proposed height measurement algorithm are described and analyzed in detail. Additional measurement experiments on the height differences of valves and lash adjusters of a two-step variable valve lift module were implemented repeatedly to evaluate the accuracy and repeatability of the proposed measurement system. Experimental results show that the proposed laser-vision-based height measurement system achieves high accuracy, repeatability, and stabilization for the inspection of two-step variable valve lift module assemblies.
