This paper presents vision-based techniques for underwater landmark detection, map-based localization, and SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) in structured underwater environments. A variety of underwater tasks require an underwater robot to be able to successfully perform autonomous navigation, but the available sensors for accurate localization are limited. A vision sensor among the available sensors is very useful for performing short range tasks, in spite of harsh underwater conditions including low visibility, noise, and large areas of featureless topography. To overcome these problems and to a utilize vision sensor for underwater localization, we propose a novel vision-based object detection technique to be applied to MCL (Monte Carlo Localization) and EKF (Extended Kalman Filter)-based SLAM algorithms. In the image processing step, a weighted correlation coefficient-based template matching and color-based image segmentation method are proposed to improve the conventional approach. In the localization step, in order to apply the landmark detection results to MCL and EKF-SLAM, dead-reckoning information and landmark detection results are used for prediction and update phases, respectively. The performance of the proposed technique is evaluated by experiments with an underwater robot platform in an indoor water tank and the results are discussed.

Severe haze, mist, and fog phenomena occurred in the central part of Korea during 15~25 May 2003 resulted in poor visibility and air quality. When these phenomena occurred, Korean peninsula was under the effects of anticyclone. The atmosphere was stable, and wind speed was so weak. Under this meteorological conditions, air quality was worse and worse. The characteristics of aerosol in Seoul, Incheon, and Gosan (Jeju) during this period are investigated from the $PM_{10}$. TSP concentrations and aerosol number concentrations. Concentrations of $PM_{10}$ and TSP measured at KMA increased upto 176 and 230 J.${\mu}g/m^3$ on 22 May 2003, respectively. Aerosol number concentrations of size range from 0.82 to 6.06 ${\mu}m$ increased in Seoul on 17, 19, and 21~24 May 2003, and the concentrations of $NO_2$ and $SO_2$had maximum value of 0.165 ppm at Gwanak Mt. and 0.036 ppm at Guro-dong on 23 May 2003, respectively. Result from analysis on heavy metal elements showed high concentrations of Zn, Pb, Cr, Ni, Cu, and Cd during 20~24 May 2003. This event is examined by comprehensive analyses of synoptic weather conditions, satellite images, concentrations of suspended particles and air pollutants, and heavy metal elements.
The purpose of this study is to design appropriate digital tools for the production of makeup designs. In this study, we used a three-dimensional facial avatar simulation program developed by the Electronics and Telecommunications Research. This study is based on the creation of three-dimensional CG digital art of facial avatar makeup, produced by using simulation technology. First, the actual application and the tools for digital-optimization and media features were created, leading to the research and cleanup. Second, the theoretical background was applied to the formative elements of oriental colors in the designing process. Makeup design elements include point, line, surface, color, and texture. In this study, effective makeup design was interpreted to be based on the representation of particular elements, notably the design principles of balance, proportion, rhythm, repetition, emphasis, contrast, harmony, and unity. In Asia, design is based on the visibility of red, blue, black, yellow, and white-the colors of the five elements-and the use of points, lines, and shapes. This study was recently under scrutiny in relations to digital simulation and various three-dimensional designs, in terms of how to take advantage of a wide range of applications, and how to apply the findings through media and the dissemination of basic research. This study applies the characteristics of the limited existing stereoscopic three-dimensional and digital simulation programs in order to take advantage of the empirical research, providing a basis to implement this research in a meaningful way. A follow-up study is needed to extend these findings and theoretical foundation through continuous observation and in-depth technical development and research.

The purpose of this study were 1) to find out impression dimensions of the dress wearer with various motifs 2) to evaluate the impression effects of motifs in Korean traditional dress for women. The research method was a quasi-experimental with the between subjects design. The experimental materials developed for the study were a set of stimuli and response scale. The stimuli were consisted of 12 drawings with full factorial design of 3 independent variables : motif sorts (2:flower animal) motif types(2: realistic stylized) motif arrangements(3: all over the traditional to modern) The stimuli consisted of color photographs and color of clothing and motifs was controlled the blue. The response scales were consisted of 30 bi-polar adjectives. The subjects were 333 undergraduate college students of Taejon. The data was analyzed by factor analysis MANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test. Results were as follows: 1. The wearer's impression were consisted of the 3 different dimensions : attractiveness · dignity dimension. Interaction effect among motif sorts motif types and motif arrangements was significant on the same dimension. Interaction effect between motif sorts and motif arrangements was significant on the visibility dimension. 3. The motif arrangements were a significant variable on the attractiveness·dignity and the evaluation dimension. The traditional arrangement and the modern arrangement showed more faborable impression and the all over arrangement showed less favorable impression on the attractiveness·dignity dimension. The all over arrangement showed positive impression on the evaluation dimension and the traditional arrangement and the modern arrangement showed negative impression on the same dimension. There were no significant difference between flower sort and animal sort and also no significant difference between realistic type and stylized type in their impression effects.

Split digital printing into interior and outdoors on present advertisement. When is printing machine for interior mainly, use ink of water-based type. Equipment of this type embodies high resolution, but ink special quality light stability is weak. Also, when is printing machine for outdoors, printing machines of solvent or UV type are used because of water resistance and light stability. This printing machines hard to embody ink special quality high resolution mainly. And because outside is far visibility range, is uncommon in case high resolution requires embodiment. Therefore, high resolution of inside is water-based type considering this item and outside printing machine of low resolution solvent type mainly announce. Also, divide into eco-friendly latex ink type that is announced to water-based, solvent, UV according to ink type and the latest market using in occasion of digital printing machine used as advertisement industry. Color management that is been consistent of original image has a lot of difficulties by using substrate that is also various to digital printing machine for such various advertisement. But, consumers is rising realization about color or desire about quality improvement of color gradually in interior outside advertisement market. So, require solution method. Therefore, in this paper, eco-friendly ink use applied device calibration through linearization in done latex digital printing machine to basis. And studied right color management plan of digital printing for interior outside advertisement through three steps such as G7 calibration application and ICC profile application.

We investigated the performance of a visible light communication (VLC) transceiver applicable to both of illumination and wireless communication. we considered the visibility of VLC, the easy connection for wireless communication and high-speed transmission and implemented VLC transceiver based on edge-emitting laser diode and silicon photodiode. The proposed VLC transceiver is designated to operate in a full duplex mode at high speed of 120 Mbit/s. The shielding method that is employed as a means to reduce the light cross coupling effect inside the VLC transceiver is proposed and its performance is experimentally measured. We also applied optical antenna to have the larger angle of field of view (FOV) to novel structure of VLC transceiver and examined and analyzed their bit error rate performance, photometric result with respect to the transmission distance, the coverage range and the tilt degree as transmission link characteristic between two transceivers without optical antenna and with optical antenna.

The aim of this study was to assess visible implant fluorescent elastomer (VIE) tagging in greenling Hexagrammos otakii. The experiental fish were anesthetized individually and marked with orange, yellow, red, and green elastomer at the following five body locations, respectively: the adipose eyelid, the surface of the dorsal fin base, the inside surface of the pectoral fin base, the inside surface of the pelvic fin base, and the surface of the anal fin base. Control fish were anesthetized but not marked. During the 20-month trial, fish growth and retention, underwater visibility, and readability of the tags were determined. After 20 months, body length of marked greenling ($43.2{\pm}3.5cm$, mean ${\pm}$ standard deviation [SD]) did not differ from that of the control ($41.4{\pm}3.7cm$). Additionally, the body weight of marked greenling ($527.4{\pm}39.8g$, mean ${\pm}$ SD) did not differ from that of the controls ($505.9{\pm}31.7g$). Greenling retained >90% of the tags at the surface of the dorsal fin base. The anal fin base showed a higher tag retention rate than the inside surfaces of the pectoral fin and the pelvic fin bases (P < 0.05). Red and orange tags were identified more easily underwater than green and yellow tags. Green and yellow tags emitted fluorescence in response to a narrower range of light wavelengths. Thus, the VIE mark was easy to apply to greenling (< 1 min per fish) and was readily visible when viewed under an ultraviolet lamp.

As urban residents' standard of living has recently risen, efforts to improve urban landscapes have increased. It is very important to manage streetscapes to improve the urban landscape because they are one of the essential elements in city construction and urban landscaping. This study focuses on the indicators that manage streetscapes more accurately and realistically. To achieve this purpose, this study used dynamic simulations considering shape and layout of buildings, the primary factors in streetscapes. This study can be summarized as follows: 1. Two indicators to manage streetscape were investigated in previous studies: one to increase visual openness and the other to reduce visual overstimulation. These indicators had high correlation with scenic beauty. Therefore, increasing openness and reducing overstimulation are essential to improve streetscapes. 2. Two household tower type buildings should be arranged along roadsides to increase openness and scenic beauty. However, low tower buildings with two household are not suitable along roadsides because they create monotony and intervals are needed between buildings. 3. To increase openness, the angled arrangement of buildings is suggested $75^{\circ}{\sim}90^{\circ}(105^{\circ}{\sim}135^{\circ})$ for low buildings, $30^{\circ}{\sim}45^{\circ}(135^{\circ}{\sim}150^{\circ})$ for mid-sized buildings, and $75^{\circ}{\sim}90^{\circ}(105^{\circ}{\sim}135^{\circ})$ for high buildings. 4. To reduce overstimulation, the height and setback control regulations should be at an angle of less than $45^{\circ}$. This study suggests more accurate management guidelines by organizing the indicators that could effectively manage streetscapes and by overcoming limitations of reality shown in a static simulation.

This paper explains major considerations for integrated GPS/GLONASS/BDS positioning, and then analyzes integrated GNSS positioning accuracies based on low-cost receivers in open-sky and poor reception environments. In an open-sky environment, horizontal RMSE of the integrated system positioning is about 1.2m. It shows improved result compared with single system positioning, the improvement ratio was 17-55%. In poor reception environments, we sometimes could not do positioning because the number of visible satellites gets below four. In an integrated positioning mode, the number of visible satellites was always higher than four, allowing us to find positions all the time. The horizontal RMSE of the integrated system positioning in poor reception environments is about 6.4m. Compared with single system positioning;the integrated system positioning shows better performance and the improvement ratio was 8-47% for the horizontal directions.
