  • GNSS(Global navigation Satellite system) is the system which determines the users' position using the navigation satellites. The position determination using GNSS has to be always Possible to appling GNSS to railway system widely. Especially, to apply GNSS to the safety-critical application, such as train control system, the satellite's visibility has to be always secured. This study describes the necessity of visibility analysis and the method. And also the visibility analysis of the stand-alone GNSS and the integration GNSS are performed and the applicability of GNSS for train control application is analysed.

  • The probability of visual perception occurrence varies in case the expectation of using each unit space of which the whole space consists because the size of space subject to analysis is very large or the organization is complicated in the analysis of spatial visual configuration. Therefore, it is necessary to compensate space analysis and index measurement by applying weight to the point of view for the probability of experiencing space. This study proposed a method of analyzing visibility ratio by applying the integration of space syntax theory as weight, and grasped the effect in comparison with the visibility ratio when weight was not applied.

비교그룹방법을 통한 백색 중앙분리대측 실선 도입의 사고감소효과 연구 (Estimation of Traffic Accident Effectiveness of White Left Shoulder Line Using a Comparison Group Method)

  • PURPOSES : Visibility of lanes on the road improves as retro-reflectivity rises. This helps reduce traffic accidents at nighttime or in bad weather. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of improved visibility on reduction of traffic accidents when the color of the lane in the median of the highway was changed from yellow to white. METHODS : In order to evaluate the accident reduction effect of the white left shoulder line, Hauer (1997)'s Comparison-Group method was chosen as an analysis methodology. The JungBu-2 highway, which is equipped with the white left shoulder line and is in trial operation, was chosen as a target for analysis. Data of accidents for 10 months before and after installation was collected and analyzed. In addition to the number of accidents, the types of accidents were classified into nighttime accidents, accidents in bad weather, and median collisions. The accident reduction effect of improved visibility of lanes was analyzed. RESULTS : The analysis' finding showed that installation of the white left shoulder line decreased the number of accidents by 28%. Moreover, improvement in visibility was effective in reducing nighttime accidents by 67.63%, accidents in bad weather by 55.19%, and median collisions by 48.55%. CONCLUSIONS : Based on the analysis' results in this study, it was concluded that white left shoulder line on the freeway contributed to reduce traffic accidents, especially nighttime accidents, accidents in bad weather, and median collisions.

A Shortest Path Planning Algorithm for Mobile Robots Using a Modified Visibility Graph Method

  • This paper presents a global path planning algorithm based on a visibility graph method, and applies additionally various constraints for constructing the reduced visibility graph. The modification algorithm for generating the rounded path is applied to the globally shortest path of the visibility graph using the robot size constraint in order to avoid the obstacle. In order to check the visibility in given 3D map data, 3D CAD data with VRML format is projected to the 2D plane of the mobile robot, and the projected map is converted into an image for easy map analysis. The image processing are applied to this grid map for extracting the obstacles and the free space. Generally, the tree size of visibility graph is proportional to the factorial of the number of the corner points. In order to reduce the tree size and search the shortest path efficiently, the various constraints are proposed. After short paths that crosses the corner points of obstacles lists up, the shortest path among these paths is selected and it is modified to the combination of the line path and the arc path for the mobile robot to avoid the obstacles and follow the rounded path in the environment. The proposed path planning algorithm is applied to the mobile robot LCAR-III.

Exploration of a New Method of Spatial Analysis to Predict the Pedestrian Pattern in the Circulation Spaces of Shopping Centers: The Case of Shenzhen

  • Turner and Penn (1) from UCL have proved that Visibility Graph Analysis (VGA) can be used as a more accurate method to predict the pedestrian distribution in building spaces. However, this methodology neglects certain elements that are of special influence on pedestrian distribution in buildings, especially the entrances and exits. Based on Space Syntax, this dissertation improves on the traditional method of Visibility Graph Analysis, using three shopping centers in Shenzhen as examples, attempts to explore a new parameter - "attenuation index of pedestrians at the entrances and exits" - using relevant data of the entrances and exits of the three cases, and combines it with traditional VGA analysis through weighted calculation, in order to provide more accurate predictions of pedestrian patterns in shopping centers.

누적가시도 분석을 이용한 신라시대의 산성 입지와 감시체계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Surveillance System and the Location of Fortress of the Sil-la Dynasty by a Cumulative Visibility Analysis)

  • 본 연구는 상호가시성 분석을 통해 신라산성의 입지와 감시체계를 해석하였다. 분석을 위해 Arcview 3.2에서 $10{\times}10m$ 그리드의 지형표고모형이 제작되고, 명활산성, 남산신성, 서형산성 등의 위치가 표시되었다. 4개의 연구결과가 도출되었다. 첫째, 신라 왕도(538개 조망점)의 누적가시도(cumulative visibility, 累積可視度)에서 왕도에 면한 산성구간이 높은 피시빈도(被視頻度)를 보였다. 이는 산성이 왕도에 대한 가시를 확보하고 있음을 의미한다. 둘째, 3개 산성별 누적가시도에서 산성의 내부지역은 전시에 지휘가 유리하고, 외부지역은 산성간 상호감시체계가 형성되었음을 밝혔다. 셋째, 3개 산성 합산 누적가시도에서 산성이 없는 왕도 북쪽에서 높은 피시빈도가 나타났다. 왕도 북쪽은 명활과 서형산성에서 적군의 감시와 지원이 용이한 4km 내외에 포함된다. 신라 왕도는 산성으로 인해 견고한 감시체계를 형성하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 넷째, 효율적인 감시와 방어를 위해 산성이 왕도에서 봉우리로 상승하며 입지되었음을 추론하였다. 이는 7~8부 능선 입지설을 대체할 수 있는 실용적 산성 입지설이 될 것이다. 본 연구에서 사용한 누적가시도 분석기법은 추후 경관고고학적 입지 분석에 실증적인 도구가 될 것이다.

클라우드 환경에서의 가시성 제공 방안 연구 (A Study on the Providing the Visibility in a Cloud Environment)

  • According to the government's plan for cloud conversion and integration of information resources for administrative and public institutions, work is underway to convert administrative and public institutions to the cloud by 2025. In addition, in the private sector, companies in many fields, including finance, are already using cloud services, and the usage is expected to expand more and more. As a result, changes have occurred in security control activities using security systems, it is required to secure visibility for encrypted traffic when building a cloud control environment. In this paper, an analysis was conducted on the way to provide visibility in the cloud service environment. Ways to provide visibility in the cloud service environment include methods of using load balancer, methods of using security systems, and methods of using equipment dedicated to SSL/TLS decryption. For these methods, Performance comparison was performed in terms of confidentiality, functionality (performance), cost. Through this, the pros and cons of each visibility provision method were presented.

Nexus Between Social Media and Brand Preference of Smart Mobile Phones: An Empirical Study in Sri Lanka

  • The aim of the research is to evaluate the impact of social media marketing (with special reference to Facebook) on the brand preference of customers with regard to smart mobile phones. Since Facebook has become very popular today and a trend has arisen to use social media as a marketing tool, the researcher intended to evaluate the impact of social media marketing on brand preference, as the findings would provide valuable insight for future businesses. Social media as measured social media visibility, social media engagement, and social media influencewas the independent variableand brand preference was the dependent variable. The convenience sampling method was used where the sample was taken from a group of people easy to contact or to reach. A sample of 186 young males and females was selected. Factor loading and factor analysis were used to analyze the data and find the most influencing factors on brand preference. Reliability analysis, validity analysis, and regression analysiswere performed to analyze the data. The R2 value is 0.320 implying that 32.00% of the variance in brand preference is explained by social media influence, social media engagement, and social media visibility. The findings show thatsocial media visibility, social media engagement, and social media influencehave a positive impact on brand preference.

3D맵핑을 이용한 문화재 지정구역 경관관리기법 연구 (A Study on Landscape Management Techniques of Cultural Heritage Designated Area Using 3D Mapping Method)

  • 본 연구는 역사마을 및 명승과 같은 면적문화재의 경관관리를 위한 분석의 기초가 되는 가시분석모델의 구축을 위해 수행되었다. DEM을 이용한 가시권 분석결과와 소형 UAV를 통해 추출된 3D맵핑 데이터를 기반으로 하는 DSM의 가시권 분석결과를 비교한 결과는 다음과 같다. 소형 UAV를 이용하여 취득된 디지털데이터로부터 GSD(Ground Sample Distance) 2cm급의 정사영상 자료 구축 및 DSM을 생성하여 RTK 측량결과를 기준으로 추출데이터에 대한 정확도를 검토한 결과 약 6.5cm 이내의 정확도를 확인하였다. 수치지형도에 건축물의 높이를 적용한 수치표고모델(DEM: $1m{\times}m$)과 소형 UAV를 이용한 수치표면모델(DSM: $20cm{\times}20cm$)의 가시권 분석 자료를 비교한 결과 DEM을 이용한 가시권 분석결과에 비해 가시 영역이 좁고 세밀하게 나타났으며, 가시권 분석결과를 현지사진과 비교한 결과 DSM을 이용한 가시권 분석이 담장, 수목, 하우스 등과 같은 구조물 등이 지형데이터에 반영되어 현실에 가까운 가시권 분석이 가능한 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 3D맵핑 기법을 이용한 가시분석모델은 3D 스캐너와 같은 정밀실측 장비보다 상대적으로 신속하고 저렴한 소형 UAV를 활용하여 필요에 따라 즉각적으로 데이터의 구축을 통해 수시로 변하고 있는 경관의 정보를 효율적으로 취득함으로써 면적문화재의 경관평가 등의 보존관리를 위한 합리적인 분석결과를 제시할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

  • The purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between the exhibits layout and the spatial organization in exhibition spaces. As an analytical method, the space syntax theory devised by Bill Hillier(1984) was applied for analysing the potential differentiation of exhibition spaces and remodeling method in Seoul City Museum selected for case study. The results are as following. Especially from the convex analysis, axial analysis and exhibits(interpretation); 1) the closed spatial system(1F) has high visibility and high intelligibility in hall area but lacks route continuity, 2) the circulated spatial system(2F) has low global visibility but offers high intelligibility and connectivity due to its coercive circulation, 3) and the organization of exhibition design consists in differentiating space that reintegrates them into another spatial order. Therefore, there process are expected to provide a methodological framework for analysing and interpreting spatial organizations of design, leading to the clear explanation of remodeling.
