This paper presents theoretical and experimental study on the quality-factor of the laterally oscillated electrostatic microactuator, driven by a lateral repulsive-force generated by the asymmetry of planar electric field. The quality-factor of the repulsive-force microactuator using a creeping flow model of the ambient air is evaluated. By filling the simulation results of damping force, we evaluate the dimensionless damping force, $\alpha$, thereby obtaining an analytical damping force, F, in the form of $F=\mu\; \alphaUL,\; where\; \mu,$ U and L denote the air viscosity, the velocity and the characteristic length of the movable electrodes. The measured quality-factor increases from 12 to 13 for the DC bias voltage increased from 60V to 140v. The theoretical quality-factor estimated from the creeping flow model increases from 14.9 to 18.7. Characteristics of quality-factor of the repulsive-force microactuator have been discussed and compared with those of the conventional attractive-force microactuator.
In this paper, we have developed the 6 DOF force display system to be based on the single PC. The system is composed of the force display device, the force reflecting rendering algorithm and the high-speed controller. The previous systems had a problem, that must adopt high performance workstation or 2-PC in order to control the graphics speedily and stably. In this paper, it is possible to improve the problem as to develop its exclusive controller and new rendering algorithm. The proposed new rendering algorithm is based on the Proxy algorithm, which can convert information of the position, the velocity, and the haptic information into the force-data. Especially, as to use the proxy algorithm, we can construct dynamical virtual-environment with the elasticity, the viscosity, the mass, and the friction force. As the result of the experiment, we found that our system has much superior characteristics than some other haptic interfaces, because it can control of 30,000 polygon model constructed virtual object with 1[kHz] haptic interrupt cycle and 20[Hz] graphic interrupt cycle in the single PC based system.
Creep force is one of the only appeared at conventional train which used to be driven by metallic wheel and rail contact. Due to the elastic deformation of wheel/rail contact patch by the weights of wheel and all the components related to it, creep force generates and becomes to the decision factor of critical speed of bogie(or railway vehicle) which is the criteria of avoiding vehicle to be unstable. There are many kind of factors which affect generation of creep force at a wheel/rail contact surface such as viscosity of contact patch, velocity, wheel and rail geometric profile, mechanical properties of wheel and rail. This paper concentrates on a wheelset simple 2 DOF Equation of Motion being exerted. From the simple numerical analysis using linear solution about getting creep force some factors could find roughly. Among the factors geometric parameter could be the one of most important for this study. In the future we'll prolong the range of study to find out method of measuring creep force easily.
When ceramic membrance was made from metal salt solution in place of metal akoxide solution, crack free and good adhesion to supporter was optimized for sol stability and good adhesion force. A starting sol was prepared from aluminum oxychloride aqueous solutjion in order to inhibit the grain growthof Al2O3 during heat treatment. The crack free dip coating can't be achieved in 1mol/ι zirconium oxychloride solution because of the high viscosity which interferes with the hydration copolymerization between Al3+ ion and Zr4+ ion. Thus Al2O3-ZrO2 sol stability and viscosity for dip coating was effective when 0.01 mol/ι zirconium oxychloride was added. The minimizing of crack and achieving better adhesion to the supporter wa obtained by microwave drying, surfactant addition and ultrasonic dip coating in wet atmosphere. The result seems to minimize the capillary force and improve the adhesive ability to supporter during the process. Where the average pore size of Al2O3-ZrO2 ultrafilter ceramic membrane measured 17 Å by the BET method and observed γ-Al2O3 phase with tetragonal zirconia after firing at 700℃.
The influence of ginseng on the paste or gelatinization properties by amylograph and mixing properties by farinograph of wheat flour and on quality properties color cooking quality textural and sensory properties and reducing microbial population of LL(Long Life) noodles was studied. The contents of ginseng used were from 5% to 10% based on flour weight. The viscosity property of wheat flour with ginseng was increased the initial pasting temperature but the amylograph peak viscosity were decreased in vice versa. The farinograph absorption stability and breakdown were increased by ginseng. The whiteness of Ll nodles manufactured with ginseng was lower than that of control The shear extrusion force and hardness of LL noodles manufactured with ginseng were shown much higher value than those of control. At cooking quality examination of LL noodles manufactured with ginseng weight of cooked LL noodles was decreased but volum was appeared in ice versa,. Extraction amounts of LL noodles manufactured with ginseng during cooking were much smaller than those of control Total count of microorganism of Ll noodles manufactured with ginseng were decreased during storage at 3$0^{\circ}C$ Sensory properties of cooked LL noodles which was manufactured with ginseng showed quite acceptable. Based on the cooking and sensory evaluation test addition of 7.0% ginseng to wheat flour may be suitable for processing LL noodles.
The objective of this study is to examine the nonlinear fluid characteristics near and inside a moonpool in various sea conditions. We estimate the flow of the free surface in a moonpool taking into account the viscosity effect and the hydrodynamic forces that affects a moonpool and hull through CFD calculations. The comparison of horizontal forces per wave length shows that the hydrodynamic force is greater for the long wave length than short wave length, and the greatest hydrodynamic force acts on the moonpool when the wave length is equal to the ship's length. The horizontal force decreases as the wave amplitude decreases, and the hydrodynamic force acting on the moonpool in ${\lambda}=LBP$ is 10 times that in ${\lambda}=LBP/3$. The free surface demonstrates the piston mode, in which it oscillates up and down while remaining essentially flat, and the rise of the free surface level increases as the wave length increases. We can assume that the hydrodynamic force acting on the moonpool increases owing to the effect of a strong vortex for ${\lambda}=LBP$ and owing to the rise of the free surface level for ${\lambda}=LBP{\times}2$.
Most studies of elsatohydrodynamic lubrication are oriented only to the measurement of film thickness itself with optical interferometer. In order to exactly investigate the tribological characteristics of a certain lubricant, it is also important to get the information of traction behaviors as well. In this work, we developed a device for measuring the friction force of ehl contact condition as well as the film thickness. To verify the validity of the measuring system, the friction forces and film thicknesses under ehl condition are simultaneously measured with the variations of additive ratios of viscosity index improvers which cause non-linear tendencies of film thickness to contact velocity.
In level set method, material properties are made to change smoothly across an interface of two materials with different properties by introducing an interpolation or smoothing scheme. So far, the weighted arithmetic mean (WAM) method has been exclusively adopted in level set method, without complete assessment for its validity. We showed here that the weighted harmonic mean (WHM) method for rate constants of various rate processes, including viscosity, thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity, and permittivity, gives much more accurate results than the WAM method. The selection of interpolation scheme is particularly important in multi-phase electrohydrodynamic problems in which driving force for fluid flow is electrical force exerted on the phase interface. Our analysis also showed that WHM method for both electrical conductivity and permittivity gives not only more accurate, but also more physically realistic distribution of electrical force at the interface. Our arguments are confirmed by numerical simulations of drop deformation under DC electric field.
The development of a robot system being able to work instead of human in the hazardous environment have been conducted for many year. In this study, the new design of controllers for the Master-Slave system is discussed. The Master-Slave system, force, velocity and torque signals are communicated between a master and a slave system. the conventional requires the enhancement of characteristics of tactility for minute force, precision signals and mechanical abrasion of loader. It is possible b controlling the viscosity of ERF(Electro-rheological fluid) since it varies with the electric field. Design of controller as well comparison between numerical simulation and experiments as will be presented. Futhermore, current methodology is also applicable to design of tele-surgery
To reduce the shock in shifting, the clutches and the brakes in automatic transmission have to be connected smoothly and disconnected rapidly. It is PCSV(Pressure Control Solenoid Valve) that paly this role of automatic transmission. In this paper, there were two steps in the analysis of the PCSV. The first step was modeling the elctromagnet by the permeance method. The second step was modeling the hydraulic circuit by the pressure differential equa- tion. In addition to this modeling, a experiment was performed and the commercial package program was used in order to justify modeling. The result of modeling coincide with the result of experiment and commercial package program. As a result, this modeling is usable in analysis of dynamic characteristics of the PCSV.
