  • The purpose of this study was to explore the effectives of a virtual bicycle system in improving the ability of equilibrium sense of normal healthy adults. Experiments were performed to find the factors related to the training of equilibrium sense. The subjects consisted of young and elderly people and the group of young people was compared against the group of elderly people. We investigated three different running modes of virtual bicycle system with two successive sets in total. W measured the parameters related to the running time, the velocity, the weight movement, the degree of the deviation from the road, and the location of the center of pressure (COP). The results showed that the running capability of the elderly became much better after repeated training. In addition, it was found out that the ability to control postural balance and the capability of equilibrium sensory were improved with the presentation of the visual feedback information of the distribution of weight. We also found that the running time and the running velocity reduced when there was no visual feedback information. From the results, our newly developed bicycle system seems to be effective in the diagnosis of equilibrium sense as well as in the improvement of the sense of sight, and vestibular function of the elderly in the field of rehabilitation training.

  • This paper use virtual running after possible traffic capacity application for optimal route location. General road is designed the design after we examine an alternate adequacy investigation and an execution design sufficiently. Various road user's requirement must be reflected from the beginning. But it is difficult to contain the various suitable design criteria because we consider the existing 2-dimension element. First of all, this study chose optimal route, used traffic assignment and 3D simulation. Then selected optimal route through the consistent road construction by analyzing road driving simulation of 3-dimension data and the urban landscape. possible traffic capacity and virtual running will be able to do the urban landscape analysis harmonizing with the environment; equally, it could be objectively solve the problem of a civil appeal.

  • Learning system on virtual environment gives the immersive feeling that lacks in existing E-Learning system, excites user's interest, and offers dangerous and expensive education contents. In this paper, we classified the learning categories into four classes: realtime lecture, anytime study, practice education, and the activity of study group. We built the on-line lecture system using Second Life that supports 3D virtual world and mixed reality. We provided virtual learning environment as running developed virtual world on-line lecture system.

  • Modern cloud computing is rapidly changing from traditional hypervisor-based virtual machines to container-based cloud-native environments. Due to limitations in I/O performance required for both virtual machines and containers, the use of high-speed storage (SSD, NVMe, etc.) is increasing, and in-memory computing using main memory is also emerging. Running a virtual environment on main memory gives better performance compared to other storage arrays. However, RAM used as main memory is expensive and due to its volatile characteristics, data is lost when the system goes down. Therefore, additional work is required to run the virtual environment in main memory. In this paper, we propose a hybrid in-memory storage that combines a block storage such as a high-speed SSD with main memory to safely operate virtual machines and containers on main memory. In addition, the proposed storage showed 6 times faster write speed and 42 times faster read operation compared to regular disks for virtual machines, and showed the average 12% improvement of container's performance tests.

  • Numerical analysis of PSC box bridge bearings for high speed KTX train vehicles has been carried out as a virtual simulation for Ubiquitous Technology. Improved numerical models of bridge, vehicle and interaction between bridge and train are considered, where bending and torsional modes are provided, whereas the exist UIC code is applied by the simplified HL loading. Dynamic and static analysed results are compared to get Dynamic Amplification Factors (D. A. F.) for maximum deflections and bending stresses up to running speed of 500 km/h. Equation from the regression analysis for the D. A. F. is presented. Sliding distance of the bearings for various KTX running speeds is compared with maximum and accumulated distances by the dynamic behaviors of PSC box bridge. Dynamic and static simulated sliding distances of the bearings according to the KTX running speed are proved as a major parameter in spite of the specifications of AASHTO and EN1337-2 focused on the distance by temperature variations.

  • Recently, linear compressors of cooling systems such as refrigerators, which have a free piston driven by a linear motor, have attracted much attention because of their high efficiency. For structural reasons, linear compressors applied in refrigerators should use an AC capacitor to ensure stable control. However, AC capacitors are expensive and bulky. In this paper, we propose a new method to realize stable control without a real AC capacitor by implementing a virtual AC capacitor with software. To realize a virtual AC capacitor, a pure integral is calculated. Nonetheless, if an offset current exists, the calculation may diverge to infinity. To solve this problem, a high-pass filter is applied and the compensation for the phase angle and magnitude are realized with a new method. Finally, a virtual AC capacitor enables variable frequency operations. Hence, in case of a lack of voltage, we can compensate by running the linear compressor in high-frequency operations. To improve efficiency, we may optimize the operation frequency. The validity of a virtual AC capacitor has been verified through simulations and experimental results.

  • To investigate various running performances of the magnetic levitation train systematically, the performance evaluation system based on Modeling & Simulation(M&S) technology is demanded essentially When the VR(virtual reality) techniques are involved, we can not only evaluate the M&S results more effectively and realistically, but also make optimum engineering decision. At the viewpoint of visualization of core engineering data like the train's running performance, there are no many cases of study which provide optimum decision information with the maximized reality and immersion environments through computer user interactions. In this study, the running performance simulation system which provides the VR based 3-dimensional visual information from the M&S results is being developed.
