For medical students and doctors, knowledge of the three-dimensional (3D) structure of brain is very important in diagnosis and treatment of brain diseases. Two-dimensional (2D) tools (ex: anatomy book) or traditional 3D tools (ex: plastic model) are not sufficient to understand the complex structures of the brain. However, it is not always guaranteed to dissect the brain of cadaver when it is necessary. To overcome this problem, the virtual dissection programs of the brain have been developed. However, most programs include only 2D images that do not permit free dissection and free rotation. Many programs are made of radiographs that are not as realistic as sectioned cadaver because radiographs do not reveal true color and have limited resolution. It is also necessary to make the virtual dissection programs of each race and ethnic group. We attempted to make a virtual dissection program using a 3D image of the brain from a Korean cadaver. The purpose of this study is to present an educational tool for those interested in the anatomy of the brain. The procedures to make this program were as follows. A brain extracted from a 58-years old male Korean cadaver was embedded with gelatin solution, and serially sectioned into 1.4 mm-thickness using a meat slicer. 130 sectioned specimens were inputted to the computer using a scanner ($420\times456$ resolution, true color), and the 2D images were aligned on the alignment program composed using IDL language. Outlines of the brain components (cerebrum, cerebellum, brain stem, lentiform nucleus, caudate nucleus, thalamus, optic nerve, fornix, cerebral artery, and ventricle) were manually drawn from the 2D images on the CorelDRAW program. Multimedia data, including text and voice comments, were inputted to help the user to learn about the brain components. 3D images of the brain were reconstructed through the volume-based rendering of the 2D images. Using the 3D image of the brain as the main feature, virtual dissection program was composed using IDL language. Various dissection functions, such as dissecting 3D image of the brain at free angle to show its plane, presenting multimedia data of brain components, and rotating 3D image of the whole brain or selected brain components at free angle were established. This virtual dissection program is expected to become more advanced, and to be used widely through Internet or CD-title as an educational tool for medical students and doctors.
In this research, we describe the method of implementing a 360-degree panorama using one projector, in terms of hardware and in the production of projected pre-distortion images. We propose a method of installing a projector and a reflector on the central ceiling of the space to minimize the shadows generated based on the position of the spectators. We used a virtual camera and virtual space where the projector and hemisphere positions were set to the same as in the exhibition space in Unity. After the image projected on the screen was mapped on the wall of the virtual space, the pre-distortion image was created by the method of capturing from the virtual camera using the ray tracing technique. When the produced pre-distortion image is hemispherical reflected and projected by the projector installed at the same position as the virtual camera, the image is reflected and projected 360 degrees on the panoramic screen.
The virtual try-on technologies of the current level have limitations with material expression as well as some difficulties with commercialization. There are differences in simulation results and subjective evaluations perceived by consumers according to the types and physical characteristics of materials used in virtual try-on simulations. This study were to analyze the exterior clothing shapes and visual images from 3D virtual try-on simulations with materials whose drapability was differentiated and then test the accuracy of the expression of the drapability of the materials. The study carried out 3D virtual try-on simulations by selecting flared skirts as an item to best express differences in drapability along with five materials of different physical properties and offered some basic data for greater utilization of virtual try-on simulations by comparing and analyzing them with the exterior shapes and visual images of actual flared skirts. The analysis results of hemline shapes between actual and virtual try-on according to the types of materials showed no match among the quantitative items of exterior shapes factors. There were no significant differences in the visual images except for "soft" according to the simulation methods, which means that the items can serve as part of a scale for visual image comparison. It is necessary to reflect quantitative numbers regarding "drapability" proposed in the study simulation software and to continue to build a systematic database for virtual simulations by investigating and testing various materials.
This study seeks to propose the virtual costume's pipeline production in digital fashion show which is based on the unique characteristic combining computer graphic technology and traditional fashion design. This study analyzed the fabric materials based on Korean traditional costume to create a virtual Hanbok for the digital fashion show, and conducted the group of professional's satisfaction statistics through the experiment to verify the realistic usability. The contents of primary process of producing virtual Korean costume is analyzed by summarizing the thickness, weight, and color as the three essential fabric properties required for virtual Hanbok. In addition, virtual costumes are compared with real Hanbok based on the usability survey to evaluate the positive research result by forty graphic experts. The purpose of this study is to present the guideline of essential material analysis of the fabrication to digital fashion show in the virtual clothing production.

Recently, Virtual reality parts is applied in various fields of industry. In this paper we developed basic components for virtual robot control system interfaced with real environment. For this, a real robot with virtual interface module is developed and virtual robot of similar image with real robot is created by putting on 3D graphic texture to the real robot. To build an unknown environment to be linked with virtual environment, we proposed a hough transformation based algorithm. Our proposed algorithm consists of navigation module by using fuzzy engine and map building module. Experiments using a developed robot illustrate the method.

This study presents the angular effects of virtual vertices inserted for effective treatment of the boundary edge laid on an infinite conducting surface in a half-space scattering problem. We investigated the angular effects of virtual vertices by first computing the radar cross section (RCS) of a specific scatterer; i.e., a tilted conducting plate in contact with the ground surface, by inserting the virtual vertex in half-space. Here, the electric field integral equation is used to solve this problem with various virtual vertex angles (${\theta}_{\nu}$) and conducting plate inclination angles (${\theta}_r$) ranging from $0^{\circ}$ to $180^{\circ}$. The effects of the angles ${\theta}_{\nu}$ and ${\theta}_r$ on the RCS computation are clearly shown with numerical results with and without the virtual vertices in free- and half-spaces.

Recently, VR HMD (virtual reality head mounted display) has been utilized for virtual training, entertainment, vision therapy, and optometry. In particular, virtual reality contents are increasingly used for vision therapy and optometry. Accordingly, high-quality virtual reality contents such as a natural vision of life is required. Therefore, it is necessary to study the content production according to the optical characteristics of the VR HMD. The purpose of this paper is to suggest a proper FOV (field of view) of contents according to the distortion rate. We produced virtual reality contents and obtained distorted images by virtual camera. The distortion rate is calculated by using the distorted image. It is proved that the optimal FOV of the VR content with the minimum distortion is $90{\sim}100^{\circ}$. The results of this study are expected to be applied to the production of high quality contents.

Virtual images for PIV are produced for the construction of a benchmark test tool of PTV systems, Camera parameters obtained by an actual experiment are used to construct the virtual images, LES(Large Eddy Simulation) data sets of a channel flow are used for generation of the virtual images, Using the virtual images and the camera's parameters. three-dimensional velocity vectors are obtained for a channel flow. The capabilities of a 3D-PTV algorithm are investigated by comparing the results obtained by the virtual images and those by an actual measurement for the channel flow.

In this paper. we generate a virtual right image corresponding to the input left image by using given RGB texture data and 8 bit gray scale depth data. We first transform the depth data to disparity data and then produce the virtual right image with this disparity. We also proposed a stereo image synthesis algorithm which is adaptable to a viewer's position and an real-time processing algorithm with a fast LUT(look up table) method. Finally, we could synthesize a total of eleven stereo images with different view points for SD quality of a texture image with 8 bit depth information in a real time.
This study analyzed hierarchy of image for visual evaluation of flare skirt. This study analyzed expression words about flare skirt with frequency data of image expression words with different length and volume of flare. Stimuli for the study were set to be 4 different volume of flare ($90^{\circ}$, $180^{\circ}$, $270^{\circ}$, $360^{\circ}$) and 3 different length of skirt(48cm, 58cm, 68cm). Stimuli were made by using I-Designer which is Virtual Sewing System. From simulation of flare skirt, the subjects were asked to write down suggested adjective freely and selected 210 adjectives. With this, we chose total 38 adjectives considering frequencies in the pre-study. And we analyzed the combination process of expression words according to construction factor of flare skirt and hierarchy of image from dendrogram which was resulted by hierarchical cluster analysis. 'Feminine' got high score in all 12 flare skirt. When the skirt was short, it was vivid, and as the skirt got longer, ordinary and pure image showed. Also, as the volume of flare got larger, the average of visual effect was higher than visual image. Visual hierarchy construction according to construction factors of flare skirt could be divided into visual image and visual effect, and visual image was shown to be form 'A type - large volume of flare and short skirt length', 'H type-small volume of flare and short skirt length' and 'X type - large volume of flare and long skirt length'.
