Image-based Virtual Try-On Systems are among the most potential solution for virtual fitting which tries on a target clothes into a model person image and thus have attracted considerable research efforts. In many cases, current solutions for those fails in achieving naturally looking virtual fitted image where a target clothes is transferred into the body area of a model person of any shape and pose while keeping clothes context like texture, text, logo without distortion and artifacts. In this paper, we propose a new improved image-based virtual try-on network system based on keypoints, which we name as KP-VTON. The proposed KP-VTON first detects keypoints in the target clothes and reliably predicts keypoints in the clothes of a model person image by utilizing a dense human pose estimation. Then, through TPS transformation calculated by utilizing the keypoints as control points, the warped target clothes image, which is matched into the body area for wearing the target clothes, is obtained. Finally, a new try-on module adopting Attention U-Net is applied to handle more detailed synthesis of virtual fitted image. Extensive experiments on a well-known dataset show that the proposed KP-VTON performs better the state-of-the-art virtual try-on systems.
This work presents a virtual prototyping design approach for an area-based image stitching hardware. The virtual hardware obtained from virtual prototyping is equivalent to the conceptual algorithm, yet the conceptual blocks are linked to the actual circuit components including the memory, logic gates, and arithmetic units. Through the proposed method, the overall structure, size, and computation speed of the actual hardware can be estimated in the early design stage. As a result, the optimized virtual hardware facilitates the hardware implementation by eliminating trail design and redundant simulation steps to optimize the hardware performance. In order to verify the feasibility of the proposed method, the virtual hardware of an image stitching platform has been realized, where it required 10,522,368 clock cycles to stitch two $1280{\times}1024$ sized images. Furthermore, with a clock frequency of 250MHz, the estimated computation time of the proposed virtual hardware is 0.877sec, which is 10x faster than the software-based image stitch platform using MATLAB.
The purpose of this study was to understand the relationship between one's social-self image and Online Avatar image. Influence of these virtual images on one's attitude toward real world and commitment to the virtual world was examined. In addition, the gender difference was examined. A structural equation model with social self image as exogenous variable and influence of Avatar as endogenous variable was designed. Real and ideal Avatar images were the mediating variable in the model. Survey questionnaire was developed and data from 425 respondents were analyzed. Results indicated that the conceptual model was a good fit to the data. Respondents who perceived their social self-images importantly were likely to have real images of Avatars. Ideal image and real image had significant on commitment to virtual world and attitudes toward the real world. For male respondents, social self image had stronger influence on real image of Avatar and ideal image had stronger influence on commitment to virtual world than female respondents.
In tangible augmented reality (AR) environments for virtual prototyping, the user interacts with virtual products by manipulating tangible objects with his or her hands, but the user often encounter awkward situations in which his or her hands are occluded by augmented virtual objects, which reduces both immersion and ease of interaction. In this paper, we present how to resolve such hand region occlusion in order to enhance natural interaction and immersive visualization. In the AR environment considered, we use two types (product-type and pointer-type) of tangible objects for tangible user interaction with a virtual product of interest. Holding the tangible objects with his or her hands, the user can create input events by touching specified regions of the product-type tangible object with the pointer-type tangible object. We developed a method for resolving hand region occlusion frequently arising during such user interaction, It first detect hand region in a real image and refines the rendered image of the virtual object by subtracting the hand region from the rendered image, Then, it superimposes the refined image onto the real image to obtain an image in which the occlusion is resolved. Incorporated into tangible AR interaction for virtual prototyping of handheld products such as cellular phones and MP3 players, the method has been found by a preliminary user study that it is not only useful to improve natural interaction and immersive visualization of virtual products, but also helpful for making the users experience the products' shapes and functions better.

In this paper, we propose an improved optical security system using three phase-encoded images and the principle of interference. This optical system based on a Mach-Zehnder interferometer consists of one phase-encoded virtual image to be encrypted and two phase-encoded images, en-crypting image and decrypting image, where every pixel in the three images has a phase value of '0'and'$\pi$'. The proposed encryption is performed by the multiplication of an encrypting image and a phase-encoded virtual image which dose not contain any information from the decrypted im-age. Therefore, even if the unauthorized users steal and analyze the encrypted image, they cannot reconstruct the required image. This virtual image protects the original image from counterfeiting and unauthorized access. The decryption of the original image is simply performed by interfering between a reference wave and a direct pixel-to-pixel mapping image of the en crypted image with a decrypting image. Computer simulations confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed optical technique for optical security applications.
Exact optical characterization of virtual and augmented reality devices using conventional luminance measuring methods is a time-consuming process. A new measurement method is proposed to estimate in a relatively short time the boundary of ray trajectories emitting from a specific position on a virtual images. It is assumed that the virtual image can be modeled to be formed in front of one's eyes and seen through some optical aperture (field stop) that limits the field of view. Circular and rectangular shaped virtual images were investigated. From the estimated ray boundary, optical characteristics, such as the viewing direction and three dimensional range inside which a eye can observe the specified positions of the virtual image, were derived. The proposed method can provide useful data for avoiding the unnecessary measurements required for the previously reported method. Therefore, this method can be complementary to the previously reported method for reducing the whole measurement time of optical characteristics.
This study aims to apply 3D virtual fabric parameters - as obtained from previous research experiments - to 3D virtual clothing simulation in comparing its similarity with actual clothing as worn, with a view to verifying the objectivity and validity of the 3D virtual fabric simulation method devised by the drape image analysis method. In addition, the result is intended to be used as the basic data for new 3D virtual clothing simulation methods. As the results, 3D virtual fabric parameters designed to simulate 3D drape to be similar to actual fabrics were found to be Bending Strength, Buckling Point, Density, Particle Distance, and Shear. They were also found to be important measurements when evaluating visual similarity between drape shadow images and number of nodes. 3D virtual fabric simulation method devised by the drape image analysis method was appropriate in extracting 3D fabric parameters with the reflection of actual fabrics' physical and dynamic characteristics, in connection with 3D virtual fabric simulation. 3D virtual fabric parameters with the reflection of actual fabrics' physical and dynamic characteristics using the proposed 3D virtual fabric simulation method are accumulated and provided as a standard, this will facilitate the introduction 3D virtual fabric simulation technology.
We propose an improved image encryption and the shift-tolerance method in the Fourier space using a virtual phase image. The encrypted image is obtained by the Fourier transform of the product of a phase-encoded virtual image, not an original image, and a random phase image. We demonstrate the robustness to noise, to data loss and shift of the encrypted image or the Fourier decryption key in the proposed technique.

In this paper a Phase-based virtual image encryption and decryption techniques based on a joint transform correlator (JTC) are proposed. In this method, an encrypted image is obtained by multiplying a phase-encoded virtual image that contains no information from the decrypted image with a random phase. Even if this encryption process converts a virtual image into a white-noise-like image, the unauthorized users can permit a counterfeiting of the encrypted image by analyzing the random phase mask using some phase-contrast technique. However, they cannot reconstruct the required image because the virtual image protects the original image from counterfeiting and unauthorized access. The proposed encryption technique does not suffer from strong auto-correlation terms appearing in the output plane. In addition, the reconstructed data can be directly transmitted to a digital system for real-time processing. Based on computer simulations, the proposed encryption technique and decoding system were demonstrated as adequate for optical security applications.
