웹스페이스 시대에 3차원 컴퓨터 그래픽스를 도입한 의상디자인 분야의 현황 및 전망에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Adaptation and Prospects of the 3-dimensional Computer graphics in the field of Fashion Design)

  • This study intends to examine extensively on the current situation where the full capacity of 3D CG is not being highlighted because of the lack of the information and the awareness and to look at how the virtual reality technology is being applied ranging from the design of the clothes to the marketing. A set of processes ranging from the development of the clothing design to the marketing will be performed on the web. Designers will design with 3D CG and make the patterns and will hand this over to the producer together with the virtual swatch. But there are important problems to work out. First, it is the problem of the virtual fitting room. Second, it is the absence of the 3D CG, which is easy and convenient for the clothing design. Third, it is to perfect the visual reconstruction. Fourth, it is the security of the distribution system. Fifth, it also calls for the strengthened internet network that can smooth the flow of the tremendous data. Consumer will be able to produce according to their needs and will become designer and producer at the same time, resulting in the achievement of the consumer-oriented marketing in real sense.

Optimization of optical design for Eye Glass Display

  • Eye Glass Display (EGD) with microdisplay to realize the virtual display can make the large screen, so virtual image has been developed by using microdisplay panel. This paper shows study of low cost lens design and simulation for microdisplay system with 0.6" Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCoS) panel. Lens design optimized consider to spherical aberration, astigmatism, distortion, and chromatic aberration. Code V is used and it designed an aspheric lens about exit pupil 6mm, eye relief 20mm and 35 degree of field of view (FOV). With the application this aspheric lens to LCOS type's microdisplay, virtual image showed 50 inch at 2m. One side of the aspheric lens was constituted from diffractive optical element (DOE) for the improvement in a performance. It had less than ${\pm}2%$ of distortion value and modulation transfer function in axial had 20% of resolution with 30 lp/mm spatial frequency. The optical system is suitable for display of 0.6"-diagonal with SVGA.

Systems Engineering Method to Develop Multiple BMI Nozzle Inspection System for APR1400

  • The Systems Engineering (SE) approach is characterized by the application of a structured engineering methodology for the design of a complex system or component. In this study, the SE methodology is used to design a nondestructive inspection system for Bottom Mounted Instrumentation (BMI) nozzles. We developed a system that enables nondestructive inspection of BMI nozzles during regular refueling outage without removing the reactor internals. A special ultrasonic (UT) probe is introduced to scan and detect cracks within the weld region of the nozzle. A 3D model of the inspection structure system was developed along with the reactor pressure vessel (RPV) and internals which permits a virtual 3D simulation of the operation to check the design concept and effectiveness of the system and to provide a good visualization of the system. This approach allows for a virtual walk through to verify the proposed BMI nozzle inspection system.

실감 가상시작을 위한 햅틱 다이얼 시스템 (A Haptic Dial System for Virtual Prototyping)

  • 기존의 가상 시작품은 3D 그래픽스를 이용하여 모델링된 제품 영상을 제공하였다. 이러한 가상 시작품은 단지 전통적인 입력 장치인 키보드와 마우스를 이용하여 다룰 수 있을 뿐, 조작부를 사용자가 직접 만져보고 조작하는 것은 불가능했다. 본 논문에서는 사용자가 실제 제품을 조작하는 듯한 느낌을 얻을 수 있도록 하는, 실감가상시작을 위한 햅틱 다이얼을 시스템을 제안한다. 햅틱 다이얼은 모터를 통해 사용자가 실제의 기계적인 다이얼과 유사한 감을 느낄 수 있도록 제어된다. 또한, 사용자가 다이얼을 조작하는 정보는 시스템에 입력되어 가상시작품이 작동하는 모습을 화면상에서 확인할 수 있도록 하였다. 이러한 실감 가상시작 시스템은 사용자 피드백을 통해, 설계 프로세스 초기 단계에서부터 제품 인터페이스를 디자인할 수 있도록 도움을 줄 것이다.

Live-Virtual 시뮬레이션 환경차이에 따른 조종사 스트레스 유발요인 분석 (Analysis on Causal Factors Affecting the Stress of Pilots by the Environmental Differences between Live-Virtual Simulation)

  • Recently, Live-Virtual-Constructive (L-V-C) integrate training system has proposed as a solution for the problems such as limitation of training areas, increase of mission complexity, rise in oil prices. In order to integrate each training system into the one effectively, we should solve the issue about stress of pilots by the environmental differences between Live and Virtual simulation which could be occurred when each system is connected together. Although it was already examined in previous study that the psychological effects on pilots was occurred by the environmental differences between actual and simulated flights, the study did not include what the causal factors affecting psychological effects are. The aim of this study is to examine which environmental factors that cause pilots' psychological effects. This study analyzed the biochemical stress hormone, cortisol to measure the pilots' psychological effects and cortisol was measured using Enzyme-linked immunoassay (EIA). A total of 40 pilots participated in the experiment to compare the differences in pilots' cortisol response among live simulation, virtual simulation, and the virtual simulation applying three environmental factors (gravity force, noise, and equipment) respectively. As a result, there were significant differences in cortisol level when applied the gravity force and equipment factors to the virtual simulation, while there was no significant difference in the case of the noise factor. The results from this study can be used as a basis for the future research on how to make L-V system by providing minimum linkage errors and design the virtual simulator that can reduce the differences in the pilots' psychological effects.

3차원 가상 의복의 셔링 표현에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Shape of Shirring Using 3D Virtual Clothing System)

  • Study is a basic analysis of a future virtual clothing system based on a comparative analysis of all the shirring, using a 3-dimensional apparel cad system. Frilled skirts shirred at the lower hemline were the subject of this study for a comparison of expression and shape of shirring. It compared the silhouette and details expressed in virtual and real skirts made of woolen fabrics and polyester satin, with different widths (1.5, 2 and 2.5 widths). It was found that the virtual skirt could not express shirring as exquisitely as the real skirt due to fabric thickness and other fabric characteristics. In addition, the increase in widths caused the frill shape to deform badly. In the case of a virtual skirt made of polyester satin, the increased multiplication factor let the frill spread out sharply (unlike the real skirt). Simulated skirts of polyester satin and woolen spread out to the sides with the sidelines of their frills hanging down markedly (unlike the real cloths) when the frills changed from 1.5 widths to 2 widths. When it came to the virtual skirt, side-line from the hip down all the way short of frill contorted with the wrinkle multiplication factor of 2 and 2.5 widths. This phenomenon was more notable in polyester satin skirts than in woolen skirts.

  • In this paper, we investigated 2-DOF haptic device and the method of virtual environment modeling for virtual reality. We designed an modified five bar link system to improve the performance. The haptic control system is composed of calculating kinematics and statics, controlling actuator, and describing the virtual environment. Using this system, we realized the virtual spring model and the freely falling ball model.

  • 공동작업을 위한 어플리케이션 공유는 분산되어 있는 개발도구와 어플리케이션을 공유하여 다수의 참여자가 환경적으로 제약받지 않고 공동 개발할 수 있도록 한다. 그러나 CVE(Collaborative Virtual Environment)에 기존의 어플리케이션 공유방식을 적용하기에는 기존 방식의 3차원이라는 공간적인 요소를 고려하지 않고 자유스런 상호작용을 방해한다는 문제점을 가지고 된다. 이 연구에서는 이러한 문제점들을 해결하여 CVE(에서 효과적으로 어플리케이션을 공유하기 위한 3차원 가상환경에서 공동작업을 위한 어플리케이션 공유 시스템을 설계하였다. 설계된 시스템은 어플리케이션 공유 관리기와 그룹 관리자와 통신 관리자로 구성하였다. 시스템은 참여자 사이트로 이동하는 에이전트에 의해 가상 환경에서 참여자의 어플리케이션에 대한 3차원상의 이벤트를 감지할 수 있고 스케줄링에 의해 참여자간의 충돌을 해결할 수 있다. 다라서 설계한 가상환경 공동작업을 위한 어플리케이션 공유 시스템은 가상환경을 위한 ,CSCW응용 개발 시, 기존 윈도우 어플리케이션을 3차원 가상환경에서 쉽게 공동 사용할 수 있도록 함으로써 효율적인 공동 작업을 지원하고 기존 어플리케이션 소프트웨어의 재사용성을 높일 수 있다.

Fish Schooling Animation System for Constructing Contents of Cyber Aquarium

  • The goal of researching a proper crowd animation is to design system that is satisfied with the reality of scenes, performance of system, and interaction with users to show the crowd vividly and effectively in virtual underwater world. In this paper, we smartly expressed the behavior patterns for flocks of fish in virtual underwater and we made up for the weak points in spending time and cost to produce crowd animation. We compared with the number of mesh, the number of fish, the number of frame, elapsed time, and resolution and analyzes them with the fish behavior simulating system. We developed a virtual underwater simulator using this system.

  • In this paper, we determine the design criteria of haptic device considering the human haptic system and determine the design specifications. We developed a new 2DOF haptic device based on the specifications. It has the wide workspace, statically-balanced, constant inertia matrix, well-conditioned Jacobian matrix and so on. There also is not singularity point within workspace of the device. We show that it has better performance than other 2DOF haptic device in the many aspects.
