  • In this paper, we proposed the 3-dimenstional (3D) analysis for calculating the optical characteristics of an autostereoscopic display with electric field driven liquid crystal (ELC) lens. From 3D analysis considering the slanting of lens, we calculate the cross-talk of each images and the distortion of viewing zone. Using geometric opics and extended Jones matrix method (EJMM), phase retardation of ELC lens according to position is calcuated and then optical path difference in 3D space considering tilt and azimuth angle of incident light is gotten. Then, intensity distribution is presented in the space. Through camparing the intensity distribution using ideal lens with the ELC lens, we identify the noise and image distortion of ELC lens. As a result, this analysis is expected to provide optimum design conditions for realistic and rigorous 3D display with ELC lens.

  • Results of an experimental study of possible ways to extend the capabilities of a big size transmission type holographic screen are presented. Different approaches to the problem of making a big size screen have been considered and tested experimentally. Up to 60$\times$80 $\textrm{cm}^2$ screens have been recorded on a single photographic plate VRP-M. By attaching a mirror behind the screen, the reflection mode of operation has been obtained. In this arrangement some additional peculiarities appear in the screen, which can be used to extend the screen capabilities. The first possibility is to increase the screen size by mosaicking the subscreens in the reflection mode of operation. Screens of 120$\times$80 $\textrm{cm}^2$ and 180$\times$40 $\textrm{cm}^2$ have been obtained by proper alignment of 60$\times$40 $\textrm{cm}^2$ subscreens. The second possibility is to move the viewing Bone by rotation of the screen together with the mirror and thereby realize by the eye-tracking capability. Methods of increasing vertical size of the viewing zone have been considered. Along with the multi-exposure method, which was considered in previous papers, addition of the vertical diffuser with the optimized scattering angle has been tested experimentally. The vertical size of the viewing zone has been increased by up to 10-15 cm. Another method consists of usage of a diffraction grating with vertical dispersion to solve the same problem.

  • Frequent accidents occur when workers at construction sites leave the safety zone, and particularly in the past 5 years, 9 fatal accidents occurred at the Korea Railroad Corporation due to train accidents on other tracks during track work. With the Severe Accident Punishment Act taking effect in January 2022, it is a priority to secure a safe work environment for workers at industrial (construction) sites. Therefore, there is a need to manage workers' departure from the safety zone (construction zone) and to facilitate communication within the construction zone. In this study, a mobile edge computing CCTV system is proposed that uses geofencing to determine whether workers are working in the danger zone, which can judge and respond in real-time to the ever-changing field environment. The proposed system is mobile and flexible, rather than server-based fixed CCTV. However, since it is designed mainly based on images, it has limitations in recognition rate depending on the environment such as distance, viewing angle, and illumination. As a way to compensate for this, it is required to develop more reliable equipment by combining technologies such as LiDAR and Radar.

  • Measuring the three-dimensional (3D) spatial light intensity distribution of an autostereoscopic multiview 3D display at the user position is time-consuming, as luminance has to be measured at different positions around the user position. This study investigates a method to quickly estimate the 3D distribution at the user position. For this purpose, a measurement setup using a white semitransparent diffusing screen or a two-dimensional (2D) spatial sensor was devised to measure the 2D light intensity distribution at the user position. Furthermore, the 3D spatial light intensity distribution at the user position was estimated from these 2D distributions at different viewing distances. From the estimated 3D distribution, the characteristics of autostereoscopic 3D display performance can be derived and the candidate positions for further accurate measurement can be quickly determined.

  • This study is designed to examine characteristics and types of basic landscape design established by 7 local governments in Jeollanam-do and its availability as the index of landscape administration and present a guideline with view landscape plan of local governments. The results of this study are described below. In case of view landscape, while Korean cities have not many historical assets like landmark, they have locational characteristics with mountain or coast in the center or surroundings of downtown. Therefore, since view landscape has many cases of restricting individual property rights as well as having a value as public property of city which makes recognition of sharing city, it is very sensitive problem and establishing guideline of it is needed. But, it was found that view landscape plan of local governments established location of view spot with the nature of relief viewing downtown or coast from high spot. Selection of viewing objects in view plan require deciding an object as the public property of city and big cities require selection from the zone and small cities must select 1~2 spots from the viewpoint of whole downtown. 3~4 view spots of middle and distant views which makes city community centering around the subject of view must be selected through enough discussion and in case of natural landscape, View shaft or visible rays require setting of range that 30% of viewing objects is seen. View spot or viewing objects should be selected over twice as extra spots through public hearing and civil participation as the process.

  • The representative companies mentioned in the recommendation service in the domestic OTT(Over-the-top media service) market are YouTube and Netflix. YouTube, through various methods, started personalized recommendations in earnest by introducing an algorithm to machine learning that records and uses users' viewing time from 2016. Netflix categorizes users by collecting information such as the user's selected video, viewing time zone, and video viewing device, and groups people with similar viewing patterns into the same group. It records and uses the information collected from the user and the tag information attached to the video. In this paper, we propose a method to improve video media recommendation by automatically generating metadata of video media that was written by hand.

  • We have developed a 3.1-inch diagonal 2D/3D LCD with a novel pixel arrangement, called HDDP (Horizontally Double-Density Pixels), for high-quality 3D images. We have improved 3D visibility by broadening the 3D viewing zone where high-quality images can be seen, and we propose optical characterization methods which can evaluate the high-visibility autostereoscopic displays correctly.

  • Optical architecture and experimental results on low cost multiview autostereoscopic projection display are presented. The display, containing only one high resolution projection panel and only one projection lens is capable of displaying multiview autostereoscopic images. Key components, applied in the display are segmented mirror for splitting the projection beam and one-dimensional diffuser with slanted axis of diffusion for viewing zone formation. Image distortions, inherent in the display have been compensated with opposite sign pre-distortion of projected perspective images.

  • In this paper the fundamental elements relevant to schematic daylighting design for museum are discussed and suggested. The illuminance difference between outdoor and exhibition space in consideration of the constraints necessary for the conservation of artifacts can be solved by conversion into Luminance. Also it is considered that transition zone in two stages should be provided for adaption before entering exhibition space and overall luminance within the visual field along viewing circulation should be balanced including the apertures designed for introducing the daylight or visual linking.

  • This paper describes the visual adaptation in the transition zone in the iterior of museum. Peoples can feel the interior of exhibition room brighter than it is through two-stage adaptation of visual system, which enables comfortable viewing under somewhat low illuminance level. It is recommended using low-reflectance materials on the front wall of the museum, and providing sufficient tranzition zones in front of the exhibition room and in intermediate spaces between rooms.
