  • In this paper, we present a multiple-view stereo matching method in case of moving in the direction of optical axis with stereo camera. Also we analyze the obtainable depth precision to show that multiple-view stereo increases the virtual baseline with single-view stereo. This method decides candidate points for correspondence in each image pair and then search for the correct combinations of correspondences among them using the geometrical consistency they must satisfy. Adantages of this method are capability in increasing the accuracy in matching by using the multiple stereo images and less computation due to local processing. This method computes 3-D depth by averaging the depth obtained in each multiple-view stereo. We show that the resulting depth has more precision than depth obtainable by each independent stereo when the position of image feature is uncertain due to image noise. This paper first defines a multipleview stereo agorithm in case of moving in the direction of optical axis with stereo camera and analyze the obtainable precision of computed depth. Then we represent the effect of removing the incorrect matching candidate and precision enhancement with experimental result.

  • Optical characteristics including the view angle and color temperature uniformity of LED packages with an integrated lens fabricated by compression molding method are investigated according to lens shape, lens materials, and phosphor coating methods. Four types of lens shape are designed and their optical output power dependence on the refractive index of silicone encapsulant are evaluated. Also, spatial color temperature uniformities of packages fabricated with different phosphor coating methods-direct coating on a chip vs. uniformly mixed with silicone encapsulant- are compared at various view angles. As the result, it is found that phosphor coating method is more effective on color temperature uniformity than lens shape. The maximum color temperature difference of a package with direct coating of phosphor on a chip is 1,340K according to the view angle at the color temperature of 5,000K, and that of a package with uniformly mixed phosphor is 250K, which indicates 1,090K improvement of color uniformity for the latter case.

  • In this paper, a limited-view CT image reconstruction method was studied to reduce the scan times and the X-ray dose for the patients. To reduce streak artifacts which is caused by insufficient number of views, we introduce a sinogram interpolation method based on image matching. Image matching is achieved using the characteristics of the neighboring views including intensity, gradient and distance between the pixels. Interpolation is performed using the image matching results.. A numerical phantom and Al-acryl phantom were used for evaluating the effectiveness of the proposed interpolation method. The results showed that streak artifacts were reduced in the reconstructed images while the details of the images were preserved. Moreover, maximum 5% improvements in terms of PSNR were observed.

  • Architecture framework (AF) is a guideline to define components needed to develop and operate enterprise architecture (EA), and to define relationships among the components. There are many architecture frameworks to operate EA of governments and businesses such as Zachman framework, DoDAF, TOGAF, FEAF, and TEAF. DoDAF is the most representative AF to support the development of the EA in the military domain. DoDAF is composed of eight viewpoints and 40 views that are affiliated with the viewpoints. To develop an AF for a specific goal, system architects decide a set of views. Furthermore, they determine data that are needed for a view modeling. However, views and data in DoDAF are structurally inter-related explicitly and/or implicitly. So, developing an AF for a specific goal is going to be a project to be carried out over a long haul. To reduce the burden of its development, in this paper, we develop ONT-SAF (Ontology for DoDAF) that can infer inter-relationships like referential and transitive relationships and the sequences among the views. Furthermore, to promote reusability and consistency of the views and the data within an AF, we adopt the view-data separation strategy. ONT-DAT contains classes like 'viewpoint', 'view', 'data', 'expression method', and 'reference model', and 11 properties including 'hasView.' To prove the effectiveness of ONT-SAF, we perform a case study.

  • Despite of many supportive research to the usefulness of slide evaluation on environment of outdoor lighting, study method of using slides have provoked many discussions of its manifestation of reality of field conditions. This study aims to compare the results of slide survey with that of field survey. Distant view and short range view of nightscape of Seoul were selected. Field measurement of luminance and chromaticity were conducted and questionnaire survey were conducted. Frequency analysis, T-test, factor analysis were conducted. Results shows that distant view and short range view of field survey have better visual atmosphere than slide survey. In addition, slide survey on distant view shows lowest values. Difference between field survey and slide survey on distant view is much bigger than the results of short range view.

  • This paper represents a new approach which addresses quality degradation of a synthesized view, when a virtual camera moves forward. Generally, interpolation technique using only two neighboring views is used when a virtual view is synthesized. Because a size of the object increases when the virtual camera moves forward, most methods solved this by interpolation in order to synthesize a virtual view. However, as it generates a degraded view such as blurred images, we prevent a synthesized view from being blurred by using more cameras in multiview camera configuration. That is, we solve this by applying super-resolution concept which reconstructs a high resolution image from several low resolution images. Therefore, data fusion is executed by geometric warping using a disparity of the multiple images followed by deblur operation. Experimental results show that the image quality can further be improved by reducing blur in comparison with interpolation method.

  • This paper is a study on remote monitoring by measuring harmful gases using LabVIEW and MyRIO. Most gas measurements using Arduino are somewhat limited in using multiple sensors. MyRIO can measure multiple sensors, so it suggests a method of wirelessly transmitting them and monitoring them through LabVIEW.

  • We investigate a kernel approach to discriminant analysis for binary classification as a machine learning point of view. Our view of the kernel approach follows support vector method which is one of the most promising techniques in the area of machine learning. As usual discriminant analysis, the kernel method can discriminate an object most likely belongs to. Moreover, it has some advantage over discriminant analysis such as data compression and computing time.

  • In this paper, we propose a person tracking based multi-channel audio panning system for multi-view broadcasting services. Multi-view broadcasting is to render the video sequences that are captured from a set of cameras based on different viewpoints, and multi-channel audio panning techniques are necessary for audio rendering in these services. In order to apply such a realistic audio technique to this multi-view broadcasting service, person tracking techniques which are to estimate the position of users are also necessary. For these reasons, proposed methods are composed of two parts. The first part is a person tracking method by using ultrasonic satellites and receiver. We could obtain user's coordinates of high resolution and short duration about 10 mm and 150 ms. The second part is MPEG Surround parameter-based multi-channel audio panning method. It is a method to obtain panned multi-channel audio by controlling the MPEG Surround spatial parameters. A MUSHRA test is conducted to objectively evaluate the perceptual quality and measure localization performance using a dummy head. From the experiments, it is shown that the proposed method provides better perceptual quality and localization performance than the conventional parameter-based audio panning method. In addition, we implement the prototype of person tracking based multi-view broadcasting system by integrating proposed methods with multi-view display system.

  • Free-view, auto-stereoscopic video service is a next generation broadcasting system which offers a three-dimensional video, images of the various point are needed. This paper proposes a method that parallelizes the algorithm for arbitrary intermediate view-point image fast generation and make it faster using General Propose Graphic Processing Unit(GPGPU) with help of the Compute Unified Device Architecture(CUDA). It uses a parallelized stereo-matching method between the leftmost and the rightmost depth images to obtain disparity information and It use data calculated disparity increment per depth value. The disparity increment is used to find the location in the intermediate view-point image for each depth in the given images. Then, It is eliminate to disocclusions complement each other and remaining holes are filled image using hole-filling method and to get the final intermediate view-point image. The proposed method was implemented and applied to several test sequences. The results revealed that the quality of the generated intermediate view-point image corresponds to 30.47dB of PSNR in average and it takes about 38 frames per second to generate a Full HD intermediate view-point image.
