Recently, gender classification has attracted a great deal of attention in the field of video surveillance system. It can be useful in many applications such as detecting crimes for women and business intelligence. In this paper, we proposed a method which can detect pedestrians from CCTV video and classify the gender of the detected objects. So far, many algorithms have been proposed to classify people according the their gender. This paper presents a gender classification using convolutional neural network. The detection phase is performed by AdaBoost algorithm based on Haar-like features and LBP features. Classifier and detector is trained with data-sets generated form CCTV images. The experimental results of the proposed method is male matching rate of 89.9% and the results shows 90.7% of female videos. As results of simulations, it is shown that the proposed gender classification is better than conventional classification algorithm.

In this paper, we propose an algorithm that recognizes human activity patterns using the human body's joints and the information of the joints. The proposed method extracts the object from inputted video, automatically extracts joints using the ratio of the human body, applies block-matching algorithm for each joint and gets the motion information of joints. The proposed method uses the joints to move, the directional vector of motions of joints, and the sign to represent the increase or decrease of x and y coordinates of joints as basic parameters for human recognition of activity. The proposed method was tested for 8 human activities of inputted video from a web camera and had the good result for the ration of recognition of the human activities.

We proposed a new technique to perform fast video stabilization using integral image in this article. In the proposed technique, it evaluate local and global motion by the block matching using the generated integral image for each frame and compensate the motion like jitter. We made the various experimental jitter patterns to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed technique and evaluated stabilization capability and execution time with the existing ones. Through the experiment, we found that the execution time of proposed technique was faster than that of existing techniques and the compensation of jitter was well done.
In this paper, we propose the algorithm for segmenting the moving speaker and tracking its movement in the video conference image. For real time processing, we simplify the algorithm which is processed in the order of the segmenting and the tracking step. In the segmenting step, the speaker object is segmented from the image by using both the motion information obtained from the difference method and the illuminance information of image. The reference mask image is created from segmented speaker object. In the tracking step, the moving speaker is tracked by using simple block matching algorithm of which computation time is reduced by discarding the blocks which are classified into the unuseful blocks. In the simulation, we can get the good result of segmenting and tracking the moving speaker by applying the proposed algorithm to several test images.
In this paper, we propose a moving object tracking algorithm by using motion estimation in UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) video. Proposed algorithm is based on generation of initial image from detected reference image, and tracking of moving object under the time-varying image. With a series of this procedure, tracking process is stable even when the UAV camera sways by correcting position of moving object, and tracking time is relatively reduced. A block matching algorithm is also utilized to determine the similarity between reference image and moving object. An experimental result shows that our proposed algorithm is better than the existing full search algorithm.

In the framework of universal multimedia access, one challenge for video transmission (communication) is to deliver video content through heterogeneous network channels matching the diversity of client devices. As one of the many adaptation methods, media transcoding is commonly considered. Particularly, FD (Frame Dropping)/CD Coefficient Dropping) transcoding is used due to the low computational complexity and simple implementation. In this scheme, CD is simply implemented by truncating the high frequency AC DCT coefficient bits. But, the CD error tends to be propagated within single GOV. In this paper, we derive the distortion relationships between CD error and propagation error, and investigate the error characteristics by computer simulations. The CD error characteristics can be effectively used in the FD/CD transcoding scheme.

We propose a novel algorithm for fractal video sequence coding, based on the circular prediction mapping (CPM), in which each range block is approximated by a domain block in the circularly previous frame. In our approach, the size of the domain block is set to be same as that of the range block for exploiting the high temporal correlation between the adjacent frames, while most other fractal coders use the domain block larger than the range block. Therefore the domain-range mapping in the CPM is similar to the block matching algorithm in the motion compensation techniques, and the advantages of this similarity are discussed. Also we show that the CPM can be combined with non-contractive inter-frame mapping (NCIM), improving the performance of the fractal sequence coder further. The computer simulation results on real image sequences demonstrate that the proposed algorithm provides very promising performance at low bit-rate, ranging from 40 Kbps to 250 Kbps.

This paper presents a graph-based method of detecting and tracking moving objects in H.264/SVC bitstreams for video surveillance applications that makes use the information from spatial base and enhancement layers of the bitstreams. In the base layer, segmentation of real moving objects are first performed using a spatio-temporal graph by removing false detected objects via graph pruning and graph projection, followed by graph matching to precisely identify the real moving objects over time even under occlusion. For the accurate detection and reliable tracking of moving objects in the enhancement layer, as well as saving computational complexity, the identified block groups of the real moving objects in the base layer are then mapped to the enhancement layer to provide accurate and efficient object detection and tracking in the bitstreams of higher resolution. Experimental results show the proposed method can produce reliable results with low computational complexity in both spatial layers of H.264/SVC test bitstreams.

Text information in a digital video provides crucial information to acquire semantic information of the video. In the proposed method. text candidate regions are extracted from input sequence by using characteristics of stroke and text candidate regions are localized by using projection to produce text bounding boxes. Bounding boxes containing text regions are verified geometrically and each bounding box existing same location is tracked by calculating matching measure. which is defined as the mean of absolute difference between bounding boxes in the current frame and previous frames. Finally. text regions are enhanced using temporal redundancy of bounding boxes to produce final results. Experimental results for various videos show the validity of the proposed method.
