Background: Elderly patients visiting pain clinic may be at greater risk of misunderstanding the explanation because of age-related cognitive decline. Video instruction may provide a consistent from of teaching in a visual and realistic manner. We evaluated the effect of educational video on the patient understanding and satisfaction in a group of geriatric patients visiting pain clinic. Methods: Ninety two patients aged more than 60 years old who were scheduled for transforaminal epidural block were recruited. After exposure to either video or paper instruction process, each patient was asked 5-item comprehension questions, overall satisfaction and preference question. During follow-up period, number of outpatient referral-line call for further explanation was counted. Results: We observed significantly better comprehension in the video education compared with paper instruction (P < 0.001). Patient satisfaction was also higher in the video group (P = 0.015), and patients visiting pain clinic were more preferred video instruction (P < 0.001). Proportion of referral-line call for further explanation were similar (P = 0.302). Conclusions: Video approach to instruction process before consent improves treatment comprehension in geriatric patient visiting pain clinic.
Video segmentation is an essential part in region-based video coding and any other fields of the video processing. Among lots of methods proposed so far, the watershed method in which the region growing is performed for the gradient image can produce well-partitioned regions globally without any influence on local noise and extracts accurate boundaries. But, it generates a great number of small regions, which we call over segmentation problem. Therefore we proposes image segmentation improvement by selective application structuring element of mathematical morphology.
In this paper, to provide various services of QoS, and moreover applying traffic ratio to CAC(Call Admission Control) algorithm tested how long average data rate and the average packet delay time. When CAC algorithm is not applied, traffic mixture ratio is 1:1:4:4, the FTP Service 0.4, web services 0.6, streaming service 0.7, the packet delay requirements are not satisfied. On the other hand CAC Algorithm is applied, all the service of packet delay are satisfied with arrival rate. Therefore, we can make sure that applying of CAC of traffic control WWW, FTP, Video, VoIP can guarantee the various services of QoS.
In this paper, we propose a new dynamic bandwidth allocation and call admission control method for the VBR video sources with QoS constraints to provide user's quality of service requirements and at the same time to achieve an efficient resource management in networks. The proposed mechanism dynamically adjusts the necessary bandwidth by the networks based on the provided quality of service satisfaction degree of each connection in respect to the user's requirements in terms of loss ratio and average delay Simulation results show that our proposed dynamic method is able to provide the desired level of quality of service and high utilization.
Hybrid video call healthcare system that we propose in thesis is a service for powerless people rather than ordinary people. This system is for communication between users and protectors(or volunteers). To reduce the underprivileged through the 'Malbeot Nanumi' is the purpose of the system. Hybrid Health Care System using a video call and temperature/humidity/pulse sensors that we propose in thesis can connect sensors with software, and save p2p connection information for 'Malbeot Nanumi' service by database. And health check data can save locally. Hybrid Health Care System in a Wireless Network Environment is a system that elderly people living alone is to be a conversation. The purpose of this thesis is to develop the software and to design a convenient UI to the user, And increasing consumption of care system by increasing the happiness index and increasing aging population.

Smart mirror is an IoT device that attaches a display and an embedded computer to the mirror and provides various information to the useer along with the mirror function. This paper went beyond the form of dealing with smart mirrors only stand alone device the provide information to users, and constructed a network in which smart mirrors are connected, and proposed and implemented a CoMirror system that allows users to talk and share information with other smart mirror users. The CoMirror system has a structure in which several CoMirror clients are connected on one CoMirror server. The CoMirror client consists of Raspberry Pi, a mirror film, a touch pad, a display device, an web camera, etc. The server has functions such as face learning and recognition, user management, a relay role for exchanging messages between clients, and setting up for video call. Users can communicate with other CoMirror users via the server, such as text, image, and audio messages, as well as 1:1 video call.

PC camera-based instant messenger have problems of video image break/delay and noise. The reason is caused by a composed problem that PC Camera is belong to the connected PC and operating in the PC. This research suggests an instant messenger that uses network camera connected to LAN instead of PC camera. Therefore, the instant messenger has a component that the camera is separated from PC. This research designs sequence diagram, video calls flow chart, and graphic user interface of the instant messenger. The instant messenger based on network camera provides high quality video calls service and makes it possible to call from a special remote site with real-time video image.
The paper presents a control architecture aimed at implementing bandwidth optimization combined with call admission control (CAC) over a digital video broadcasting (DVB) return channel satellite terminal (RCST) under quality of service (QoS) constraints. The approach can be applied in all cases where traffic flows, coming from a terrestrial portion of the network, are merged together within a single DVB flow, which is then forwarded over the satellite channel. The paper introduces the architecture of data and control plane of the RCST at layer 2. The data plane is composed of a set of traffic buffers served with a given bandwidth. The control plane proposed in this paper includes a layer 2 resource manager (L2RM), which is structured into decision makers (DM), one for each traffic buffer of the data plane. Each DM contains a virtual queue, which exactly duplicates the corresponding traffic buffer and performs the actions to compute the minimum bandwidth need to assure the QoS constraints. After computing the minimum bandwidth through a given algorithm (in this view the paper reports some schemes taken in the literature which may be applied), each DM communicates this bandwidth value to the L2RM, which allocates bandwidth to traffic buffers at the data plane. Real bandwidth allocations are driven by the information provided by the DMs. Bandwidth control is linked to a CAC scheme, which uses current bandwidth allocations and peak bandwidth of the call entering the network to decide admission. The performance evaluation is dedicated to show the efficiency of the proposed combined bandwidth allocation and CAC.

With growing applications of wireless video streaming, an efficient video traffic model featuring modern high-compression techniques is more desirable than ever, because the wireless channel bandwidths are ever limited and time-varying. We propose a modeling and analysis method for video traffic by a class of stochastic processes, which we call '$GEO^Y/G/{\infty}$ input processes'. We model video traffic by $GEO^Y/G/{\infty}$ input process with gamma-distributed batch sizes Y and Weibull-like autocorrelation function. Using four real-encoded, full-length video traces including action movies, a drama, and an animation, we evaluate our modeling performance against existing model, transformed-M/G/${\infty}$ input process, which is one of most recently proposed video modeling methods in the literature. Our proposed $GEO^Y/G/{\infty}$ model is observed to consistently provide conservative performance predictions, in terms of packet loss ratio, within acceptable error at various traffic loads of interest in practical multimedia streaming systems, while the existing transformed-M/G/${\infty}$ fails. For real-time implementation of our model, we analyze G/D/1/K queueing systems with $GEO^Y/G/{\infty}$ input process to upper estimate the packet loss probabilities.

This paper presents effective quality-of-service renegotiating schemes for streaming video. The conventional network supporting quality-of-service generally allows a negotiation at call setup. However, it is not efficient for the video application since the compressed video traffic is statistically non-stationary. Thus, we consider the network supporting quality-of-service renegotiations during the data transmission, and study effective quality-of-service renegotiating schemes for streaming video. Simple token bucket model, whose parameters are token filling rate and token bucket size, is adopted for the video traffic model. The renegotiating time instants and the parameters are determined by analyzing the statistical information of compressed video traffic. In this paper, two renegotiating approaches, i.e. fixed renegotiating interval case and variable renegotiating interval case, are examined. Finally, the experimental results are provided to show the performance of the proposed schemes.
