  • The proxy mechanism widely used in WWW systems offers low-delay data delivery by means of "proxy server". By applying the proxy mechanisms to the video streaming system, we expect that high-quality and low-delay video distribution can be accomplished without introducing extra load on the system. In addition, it is effective to adapt the quality of cached video data appropriately in the proxy if user requests are diverse due to heterogeneity in terms of the available bandwidth, end-system performance, and user′s preferences on the perceived video quality. We have proposed proxy caching mechanisms to accomplish the high-quality and highly-interactive video streaming services. In our proposed system, a video stream is divided into blocks for efficient use of the cache buffer. The proxy server is assumed to be able to adjust the quality of a cached or retrieved video block to the request through video filters. In this paper, to verify the practicality of our mechanisms, we implemented them on a real system and conducted experiments. Through evaluations from several performance aspects, it was shown that our proposed mechanisms can provide users with a low-latency and high-quality video streaming service in a heterogeneous environment.

  • The multi-channel video streaming system is an essential device for future ground combat vehicles. For the system, the application of digital interfaces is required instead of the direct analog method to support selectable multiple channels. However, due to the characteristics of the digital interfaces that require en/decoding and signal conversion, the system should support the ability to adapt to quality and delay requirements depending on how video data is utilized. To support addressed issue, this study designs and emulates the multi-channel compressed-video streaming system of ground combat vehicle's fire control system based on commercial standards. Using the system, this study analyzes the quality of video according to the rotational speed of the acquisition device and Glass-to-Glass (G2G) delay between video acquisition and display devices according to video compression rates. Through these experiments and analysis, this paper presents the design direction of the system having scalability on the latest technology while providing high-quality video data streaming flexibly.

  • Closed-circuit television (CCTV) technology continuously captures and stores video streams. Users are typically required by policy to store all the captured video for a certain period. Accordingly, increasing the number of CCTV operation cycles and photographing positions expands the amount of data to be stored. However, expanding the available storage space for video data incurs increased costs. In recent years, this problem has been addressed with cloud storage solutions, which enable multiple users and devices to access and store data simultaneously. However, because of the large amount of data to be stored, a vast storage space is required. Consequently, cloud storage administrators need a way to store data more efficiently. To save storage space, deduplication technology has been proposed to prevent duplicate storage of the same data. However, because cloud storage is hosted on remote servers, data encryption technology must be applied to address data exposure issues. Although deduplication techniques for encrypted data have been studied, there have been various security vulnerabilities. We attempted to solve this problem by addressing various issues such as poison attacks, property forgery, and ownership management while removing the redundant data and handling the data more securely.

  • In H.264, three different data partition types are used, which have unequal importance to the reconstructed video quality. To improve the performance of H.264 video streaming transmission over IEEE 802.11e Wireless Local Area Networks, a prioritization mechanism that categorizes different partition types to different priority classes according to the calculated distortion within one Group of Pictures. In the proposed scheme, video streams have been encoded based on the H.264 codec with its data partition enabled. The dynamic scheduling scheme based on Enhanced Distributed Channel Access has been configured to differentiate the data partitions according to their distortion impact and the queue utilization ratio. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme improves the received video quality by 1dB in PSNR compared with the existing Enhanced Distributed Channel Access static mapping scheme.

  • One of the most promising services on the wireless network is multimedia data service. With recently emerged wireless communication technologies which conventionally were devoted to mobile phone services, pre-encoded contents as well as live video data can be transmitted via the same network. As there is enough room in the improvement of data transmission bandwidth in wireless network, video data service is likely to be more demanding. In this paper, real time MPEG-4 video encoder is described as apart of a whole system for live video services over wireless networks. As there are minimal assumptions on the underlying networks, presented system and service can be easily supported by different network system.

  • Recently, various services using artificial intelligence(AI) are emerging in the media field as well However, most of the video editing, which involves finding an editing point and attaching the video, is carried out in a passive manner, requiring a lot of time and human resources. Therefore, this study proposes a methodology that can detect the edit points of video according to whether person in video are spoken by using Video Swin Transformer. First, facial keypoints are detected through face alignment. To this end, the proposed structure first detects facial keypoints through face alignment. Through this process, the temporal and spatial changes of the face are reflected from the input video data. And, through the Video Swin Transformer-based model proposed in this study, the behavior of the person in the video is classified. Specifically, after combining the feature map generated through Video Swin Transformer from video data and the facial keypoints detected through Face Alignment, utterance is classified through convolution layers. In conclusion, the performance of the image editing point detection model using facial keypoints proposed in this paper improved from 87.46% to 89.17% compared to the model without facial keypoints.

  • A video summary abstracts the gist from an entire video and also enables efficient access to the desired content. In this paper, we propose a novel method for summarizing news video based on multimodal analysis of the content. The proposed method exploits the closed caption data to locate semantically meaningful highlights in a news video and speech signals in an audio stream to align the closed caption data with the video in a time-line. Then, the detected highlights are described using MPEG-7 Summarization Description Scheme, which allows efficient browsing of the content through such functionalities as multi-level abstracts and navigation guidance. Multimodal search and retrieval are also within the proposed framework. By indexing synchronized closed caption data, the video clips are searchable by inputting a text query. Intensive experiments with prototypical systems are presented to demonstrate the validity and reliability of the proposed method in real applications.

  • Video scene segmentation is fundamental role for content based video analysis. In this paper, we propose a new region based video scene segmentation method using continuity test for each object region which is segmented by the watershed algorithm for all frames in video data. For this purpose, we first classify video data segments into classes that are the dynamic and static sections according to the object movement rate by comparing the spatial and shape similarity of each region. And then, try to segment each sections by grouping each sections by comparing the neighbor section sections by comparing the neighbor section similarity. Because, this method uses the region which represented on object as a similarity measure, it can segment video scenes efficiently without undesirable fault alarms by illumination and partial changes.

  • SVC layered video is consists of a Base Layer (BL) and Enhancement Layer (EL). Without the base layer decoding, the higher EL layer can not be decoded. Therefore, successful transfer of the BL is important factor for improving the SVC video data. In this paper, we propose a network coding of layered video to improve success decoding probability with the importance order of the video data over a multi-relay system. We shows that formula analysis and experimental results of the proposed network coding scheme. In addition, we shows performance of video quality according to the number of relays.

  • Recently the change of content consumption trend activated the social video sharing platform and the video clip itself. There have been intensive interests and efforts to automatically abstract compact and meaningful video clips. In this paper, we propose a method which use the clustering of the bookmark data created by collective intelligence instead of using the video content analysis. The partitional clustering of points in 2-dimensional space derived from the bookmark data make it possible to abstract highlights effectively. The method is enhanced by the 1-dimensional accumulated bookmark count graph. Experiments on the real data from KBS internet service show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
