  • In this paper, the vibration load and analysis results for automotive battery supporter were performed to provide efficient vibration tolerance performance prediction methods for single-product vibration tolerance testing, and the major influencing factors and considerations for setting up single-unit vibration tolerance tests were reviewed. A common applicable standard load was applied to efficiently predict the performance of single-unit vibrations through the frequency response analysis technique. The results similar to test results can be predicted by checking vulnerable parts of the vehicle components for vibration loads and applying scale factor to standard loads. In addition, it was confirmed that the test conditions with a frequency generating the same durability severity as the endurance test are needed for accurate prediction of the durability of the single-unit vibration tolerance test conditions, and the acceleration and frequency with the conditions that there is no significant nonlinear phenomena in the vibration system are established during the single-unit vibration tolerance test conditions.

  • This paper described operation and vibration characteristics of a 'tail-fan' anti-torque performance test system. KARI (Korea Aerospace Research Institute) developed a 'tail-fan' anti-torque system of a helicopter and a performance test-rig to test the performance of the tail-fan. The performance test-rig consists of driving, supporting and rotating parts. In the process of the performance test, firstly, operation test of the test-rig were carried out to verify design specifications. Secondly, natural frequencies of fan blade and test-rig were measured respectively. Lastly, to find the operation rotating speed for the performance test, vibration test were carried out using accelerometers on tail gear box. The performance test conditions of the tail-fan to avoid a resonance were found from the fan-plot and vibration test results. The tail-fan performance tests were well done safely.

  • Development and verification of whole vibration test system was requested for developing a geostationary satellite. This satellite is enlarged significantly compared with fore-satellite in KARI. For vertical vibration test, new vertical vibration system was developed. For lateral vibration test, thermal equilibrium test was performed because of difference of thermal characteristics between test adapter and slip table. And lateral vibration system performance for overturning moment was verified by analysis and test. As the number of acquisition channels was increased, new shaker control and data acquisition system was installed. In this paper, verification process and techniques to improve test stability are introduced for the whole vibration test system.

  • In the case of a precision equipment, it requires a vibration free environment to provide its proper function. Especially, lithography and inspection devices, which have sub-nanometer class high accuracy and resolution, have come to necessity for producing more improved giga class semiconductor wafers. This high technology equipments require very strict environmental vibration standard in proportion to the accuracy of the manufacturing, inspecting devices. The vibration criteria are usually obtained either by the real vibration exciting test on the equipment or by the analytical calculation. This paper proposes a new method to solve this problem at a time. The permissible vibration level to a precision equipment can be easily obtained by analyzing a process of Frequency Response Function. This paper also demonstrates its effectiveness by applying the proposed method to finding the vibration criteria of a Computer Hard Disk Driver by Impact Test.

  • In this paper, the process of predicting efficient durability performance for vibration durability test of automobile parts using vibration test load on automobile fuel tank is presented. First of all, the common standard load that can be applied to the initial development process of the automobile was used for the fuel tank and the vulnerability of the fuel tank to the vibration fatigue load was identified through frequency response analysis. In addition, the vulnerability of the fuel tank was re-enacted through vibration durability test results, and the scale factor was applied to the standard load. In order to predict the vibration durability performance required for detailed design, vibration fatigue analysis was performed on the developed vehicle with the frequency of vibration severity equivalent to the durability test, and the vulnerability and life span of the fuel tank were identified through the process of applying weights to these selected standard loads, thereby reducing the test time of the development vehicle.

  • After launching, spacecraft is exposed to extreme environments. So spacecraft should be tested after design/manufacture to verify whether components can be operated functionally. Acceleration transferred from launch vehicle to spacecraft produces quasi-static load, sine vibration and random vibration. Random vibration is also induced by acoustic vibrations transferred by surface of spacecraft. And shock vibration is produced when spacecraft is separated from launch vehicle. To verify operation of spacecraft under these launch environments, separation shock test, sine vibration test, acoustic vibration test and random vibration test should be performed. This paper describes these launch environment test requirements.

  • Military vehicle equipped with an antenna and a shelter for operating radar has a vibration exposure during driving time. This vibration would have influence on structure of military vehicle critically. In this paper, driving stability of the military vehicle is obtained through the vibration response analysis. And, vibration level of the military vehicle satisfied the military vibration specification through analysis and comparing the MIL-STD-810G. PSD and Grms data obtained by road test can be used for vibration test specification of cabinets and electronic equipment in shelter.

  • Studies that the vehicle exhaust system applied by the TEG(thermal electric generator) are actively in progress in order to improve the fuel efficiency of the vehicle. Vehicle exhaust system is on a poor vibration condition, it is susceptible to TEG. This paper is about the development of vibration durability test of TEG mounted on a vehicle exhaust system. Vehicle driving tests are performed to measure the vibration condition of the vehicle exhaust system. The vibration durability test mode of TEG is evaluated using equivalent vibration energy method. The vibration durability tests of TEG are performed using the multi-axial vibration simulation table.

  • On the basis of the development of KSLV-1, KoDSat was designed and manufactured to demonstrate the performance of KSLV-1. KoDSat is exposed to a severe vibrational environment at launch. The structural reliability of KoDSat has to be verified using vibrational test. The structural compatibility and verification of components between analysis and test can be proved using environmental vibration test. In this paper, we review the structural characteristic of thruster control unit for a space launch vehicle and design TCU housing using mathematical model. In order to verify the structural compatibility and reliability, half-sine shock, random and sing sweep vibration test was performed. Especially, sing sweep vibration test result is compared with analysis result and mathematical model is verified.

  • In this paper, vibration sources of the BLOC motor are identified and the motor vibrations are reduced by structural modification. For vibration characteristic identification, vibration signals measured by an accelerometer when the BLOC motor is moving. These signals are presented in a waterfall plot in order to find the dependency of frequency components on the motor speed. It is found that main vibration source is BLOC motor test rig. From finite element analyses and some experiments, it is also found that resonances occur because the natural frequencies of the test rig exist in usual driving speed rang. To shift the natural frequencies outside the driving rang, the test rig is modified increase stiffness. It is verified that considerable amount of vibration are reduced by the structural modification.
