A Study of Industrial Robot for the Noise and the Vibration Reduction (산업용 로봇의 소음/진동 저감 연구)

  • The object of this study is an examination of source of robot noise and reduction of the noise and the vibration for an industrial robot system. As the first step in our study, the noise and the vibration from the robot are measured by microphones and by accelerometers and the source of the noise and the vibration are proved to be from the gear, shaft, and housing from the experiments. The occurrence of the noise may be classified according into kinds, Finally base on the result of the experiments, we consider a countermeasure for reducing the noise and the vibration of robot system by the parametric study.

  • Independent component analysis (ICA) technique based on statistical independency of the signals is known as suitable to identify the source signals by measuring and separating mixed signals through transfer paths and has successfully applied in the field of medical care, communications and so forth. In this study, the ICA technique is introduced for the identification of excitation sources from measured vibration signals of structures, which can be done by evaluating negentropy of centered and whitened vibration signals and correlation of separated signals. To validate the method, numerical analyses are carried out for a plate and a cylinder structure. The results show that the method can be applied efficiently to source identification of complex structures. Nevertheless, additional studies would be required to complement problems of occasional inaccuracy.

  • Linear harmonic analysis is a convenient and generally accurate method to use for the acoustic analysis of intake and exhaust silencers for IC engines. The major uncertainty in this form of modelling is the characterisation of the source, which is inherently nonlinear and time-variant. Experimental methods are generally used to determine the source characteristics, and in particular the indirect method is most suitable for an IC-engine source. With reference to an idealised linear time-variant source, it is found that the characteristics of a time-variant source as determined by the indirect method have no physical relevance. The direct method of experimental measurement appears to have some advantage over the indirect method, although in practice it is difficult to apply to an IC engine source. Again, an idealised linear time-variant source can be used to indicate that the characteristics of a time-variant source as determined by the direct method also have no physical relevance. Strangely, these meaningless measured source properties can nevertheless be used to accurately predict the radiated noise from an IC engine and silencer system.

  • Although the identification of a moving noise source is important in reducing the source power of the transport systems such as airplane or high speed train, the direct measurement of the frequency characteristics is usually difficult due to wind noise when using a microphone running with that noise source. On the other hand the motion of a source causes the frequency characteristics of the pass-by sound measured at a fixed point to be distorted that it is quite difficult to identify the original source characteristics. In this study the relationship between the spectra of the source and the pass-by sound signal is analyzed for a source moving at a constant velocity. The effects of the speed and the frequency characteristics of the source on the pass-by noise spectrum are investigated through numerical simulations.

  • An active control of the vibration transmitted by longitudinal load in flight control system is investigated numerically. The flight control system is modeled as a finite, thin shell cylinder with constant thickness. A vibration source is generated by exterior monopole source. Distributed piezoelectric actuator is used to control of the vibration. Thin shell theory is used to formulate the numerical models. The amplitude of vibration at discrete location and power transmission are minimized by analytical optimization method. Genetic algorithm is used as numerical optimization method to search optimal actuator position and size which amplitude of vibration is minimized.

  • In this study, the vibration were measured to analyze the characteristics of propagating vibration on the railroad, the roadbed and the ground nearby railroad induced by traveling trains. About Fifty cases of passing trains were measured with different types and speed, changing the source of loading and the points of measurement. The measured signals were analyzed in time domain and frequency domain. As a result of analysis, sudden reduction of energy was shown in near part from vibration source and the contents of high frequency was reduced more rapidly as the distance was increased. The amplitude of vibration and the contents of frequency did not make big differences in spite of different types of train which is recently used in Korea.

  • The gas compressor is one of the important machine in the petrochemical industry. It is likely to have high vibration problems due to having large reaction source and structural characteristic. In this paper we analyze the cause of high vibration in the reciprocating compressor and present a solution to this problems. By performing this case study, we confirm the effectiveness of vibration reduction through excitation source changes.

  • Hermetic rotary compressor is one of the most Important components for air conditioning system since it has a great effect on both the performance and the noise and vibration of He system. Noise and vibration of rotary compressor is occurred due to gas pulsation during compression process and unbalanced dynamic force. In order to reduce noise and vibration. it is necessary to identify sources of noise and vibration and effectively control then. Many approaches have been tried to identify noise sources of compressor. However, compressor noise source identification has proven to be difficult since the characteristics of compressor noise are complicated due to the interaction of the compressor parts and gas pulsation. In this work, Statistical Energy Analysis has been used to trace the energy flow in the compressor and identify transmission paths from the noise source to the sound field.
