  • Most of the existing evaluation criteria of vibration serviceability rely on the peak acceleration of the structure rather than that of the people keeping their own body unmoved on the structure who is the real receiver of structural vibrations. In order to accurately assess the vibration serviceability, therefore, a full path assessment approach of vibration serviceability based on vibration source, path and receiver is not only tentatively proposed in this paper, taking the peak acceleration of receiver into account, but also introduce a probability procedure to provide more instructive information instead of a single value. In fact, semi-rigid supported on both sides of the structure is more consistent with the actual situation than simply supported or clamped due to the application of the prefabricated footbridge structures. So, the footbridge is regarded as a beam with semi-rigid supported on both sides in this paper. The differential quadrature-integral quadrature coupled method is not only to handle different type of boundary conditions, but also after being further modified via the introduction of an approximation procedure in this work, the time-varying system problem caused by human-structure interaction can be solved well. The analytical results of numerical simulations demonstrate that the modified differential quadrature-integral quadrature coupled method has higher reliability and accuracy compared with the mode superposition method. What's more, both of the two different passive control measures, the tuned mass damper and semi-rigid supported, have good performance for reducing vibrations. Most importantly, semi-rigid supported is easier to achieve the objective of reducing vibration compared with tuned mass damper in design stage of structure.

  • This research is concerned with the multiple PPF and the modified LQG controller design for active vibration control of intelligent structures. The intelligent structure is defined as the structure equipped with smart actuators and sensors. Various control techniques aimed for the piezoceramic sensors and actuators have been proposed for the active vibration control of smart structures and some of them prove their effectiveness experimentally. In this paper, the multiple PPF controller and the modified LQG controller are developed and applied to the smart grid structure. The multiple PPF control and the modified LQG control can be classified as the classical and the modern control techniques. respectively. The experimental results show that both control techniques are effective in suppressing vibrations. Two control techniques are compared with respect to the design process. the ease of implementation and the effectiveness

  • This, paper describes formulation for time historical response analysis of vibration for tree structure. This method is derived from a combination of the transfer stiffness coefficient method and the Newmark-.betha. method. And This present method improves the computational accuracy of the transient vibration response analysis remarkably owing to several advantages of the transfer stiffness coefficient method. We regarded the structure as a lumped mass system here. The analysis algorithm for the time historical response was formulated for the tree structure. The validity of the present method compared with the transfer matrix method and the FEM(Finite Element Method) for transient vibration analysis is demonstrated through the numerical computations.

  • This paper is concerned with the vibration control of multi-layer structure for ultra-tall buildings and main tower of large bridge etc. We have modeled the multi-layer structure with the distributed mass system as the lumped mass system of two-degree-of-freedom structure and made experimental equipment. The H$_{\infty}$ control theory is applied to the design of the control system. The designed control system is simulated by computer. As a result, the designed H$_{\infty}$ controller showed good vibration control performance to impact excitation and the good frequency response.e.

  • This paper presents a vibration control of a flexible structure using a controllable ER fluid damper. A clamped-clamped flexible structure system supported by two short columns mimicking a small-sized bridge system is considered. An ER fluid damper which is operated in shear mode is designed and attached to the middle of the flexible structure. The governing equation of motion and associated boundary conditions are derived from Hamilton's principle. A sliding mode control is formulated in order to actively suppress the vibration of the structure due to external excitations. Experimental control results are presented in the frequency domain.

  • When one build a building that posses Precison production process to be sensitive to vibration and SMD to procuce a large dynamic force, how do one predict & answer vibration control problem at building structure design at first stage, That is a question. It has tried to predict dynamic response and establish answering about global or local dynamic problem in building using experimental and analysis method. One of such a try, it be proposed Semi-Empirial Method that reduce error element of input information about dynamic analysis using dynamic experimental study and measurement data in the basis of real-structure. In this paper, the dynamic response problem about RC-structure building that will be set-up SMD produce large transient dynamic force using Semi-Empirical Method.

  • Recently, car-ferry passenger ships of navigating the coast area in the inside of our country are on an increasing trend of main engine power and the height of upper structure, which is increased to ship's speed and loading of large vehicles. The most ship with high-speed main engine is happened to excessive vibration by propeller induced excitation force on account of connecting the vibration of hull's girder and the upper structure by decreasing the shear stiffness and natural frequency for increasing the height of passenger deck. In this paper, By exchanging the propeller of alteration the number of blades, it could be keep to ship's speed and it's decreased the vibration of hull part that is located passenger deck on the upper deck, which is identified by countermeasure of protection against vibration to procure the safety ship's navigation through measuring the vibration of hull structure.

  • When the periodic cellular structure is loaded or swelling beyond the critical value, the structure may undergo a pattern transformation owing to the local elastic instabilities, thus leading to structural collapse and the structure changing to a new configuration. Based on this deformation-triggered pattern, we have proposed the novel composite gel materials. This designed material is a type of architectural material possessing special mechanical properties. In this study, the mechanical behavior of the composite gel periodic structure with various gel inclusions is studied further through numerical simulations. When pattern transformation occurs, it results in a different elastic relationship compared with the material at untransformed state. Based on the obtained nominal stress versus nominal strain behavior, the Poisson's ratio and corresponding deformed structure patterns, we investigate the performance of designed composite materials and the effects of the uniformly distributed gel inclusions on composite materials. A better understanding of the characteristics of these composite gel materials is a key to develop its potential applications on new soft machines.

  • To maximize the productivity in machining molds and dies, machine tools should operate at high speeds. During the high speed operation of moving frames or spindles, vibration problems are apt to occur if the machine tool structures are made of conventional steel materials with inferior damping characteristics. However, self-excited vibration or chatter is bound to occur during high speed machining when cutting speed exceeds the stability limit of machine tool. Chatter is undesirable because of its adverse effect on surface finish, machining accuracy, and tool lift. Furthermore, chatter is a major cause of reducing production rate because, if no remedy can be found, metal removal rates have to be lowered until vibration-free performances is obtained. Also, the resonant vibration of machine tools frequently occurs when operating frequency approaches one of their natural frequencies because machine tools have several natural frequencies due to their many continuous structural elements. However, these vibration problems are closely related to damping characteristics of machine tool structures. This paper presents the use of polymer concrete and sandwich structures to overcome vibration problems. The polymer concrete has high potential for machine tool bed due to its good damping characteristics with moderate stiffness. In this study, a polymer concrete bed combined with welded steel structure i.e., a hybrid structure was designed and manufactured for a high-speed gantry-type milling. Also. its dynamic characteristics were measured by modal tests.

  • In terms of vibration damage and the serviceability for occupants in buildings, the purpose of vibration study lies in the reduction of vibration damage. However, only when vibration level of buildings is available, measures of vibration control and base isolation can be taken. The purpose of this paper is to provide a fundamental analysis method to estimate structural vibration. After analysing by using two methods, infinite model, combination method, a comparison between analysed results and the results of previous studies was performed to prove the validity of the prediction on the vibration of building structure. Thus, if the material property of soil and quantity of load sources are known before construction being started, the vibration level could be predicted by using these methods.
