The ride quality has become a key component of not only design but car selling as the technology developed and the requirement of passengers grew up. Thus car industry invests lots of time and cost for the higher ride quality. The evaluation of the ride quality mainly is expressed by subjective element that drivers felt. In this paper, instead of the original transfer path analysis method, relatively new methods such as OPAX(Operational path analysis with eXogeneous inputs) and OTPA(operational transfer path analysis) are used for analyzing the main hindrance element of ride quality. With those new method, contribution rate of all paths that the vibration propagate along analyzed after driving test on the roads having different characteristic. The comprehensive hindrance elements of ride quality are deduced from the contribution rate and the improve experiment by changing one of hindrance elements for higher ride quality.

Adaptive algorithms based on gradient adaptation have been extensively investigated and successfully joined with active noise/vibration control applications. The Filtered-X LMS algorithm became one of the basic feedforward algorithms in such applications, but is not fully understood yet. Effects of cancellation path model on the Filtered-X LMS algorithm have investigated and some useful properties related to stability were discovered. Most of the results stated that the error in the cancellation path model is undesirable to the Filtered X LMS. However, we started convergence analysis of Filtered-X LMS based on the assumption that erroneous model does not always degrade its performance. In this paper, we present a way of optimizing the cancellation path modern in order to enhance the convergence speed by introducing intentional phase error. Carefully designed intentional phase error enhances the convergence speed of the Filtered X LMS algorithm for pure tone noise suppression application without any performance loss at steady state.

The steel wheels are widely used in the passenger cars because of their low cost of production although the aluminum wheels have many advantages in their performance and appearance. It is known that the steering wheel vibration with steel wheels is generated more often than one with aluminum wheels. Both the constant velocity driving test and the m up test are carried out in this study to analyze the causes and path of the steering wheel vibration generated from the steel wheels. And this study shows that the steering wheel vibration is affected by the fastening torque of the wheel mounting bolts between the steel wheel and the suspension disk.

The wafer positioning robot used in the semiconductor industry is required to operate at high speed for the improvement of productivity. However, the residual vibration produced by the high speed of the wafer positioning robot makes the life of the robot shorter and the cycle time longer. In this study, the input shaping and the path of the system are designed for the reduction of the residual vibration and the optimization of the cycle time. The followings are the process for the reduction and the optimization; 1)System modeling of wafer positioning robot, 2)Verification of dynamic characteristic of wafer positioning robot, 3)Input shaping plan using impulse response reiteration, 4)Simulation test using simulink, 6)Analysis of result.

In development of an advanced bicycle simulator, the investigation of the interactions between bicycle and rider during cycling is paramount important because bicycle is a two-wheeled human-powered vehicle. Tn this work, the tilt stability. among various interactions, of bicycling is investigated experimentally, In the experiments, the tilt angles of the bicycle, riders body and head are measured, as the riding p;1th and the speed are varied. Subjects are asked to ride along four typical paths on rigid flat ground : the straight, C-curved, S-curved and circle paths. The results from extensive experiments with different subjects can be summarized as : 1) The tilt angles of bicycle and rider are almost out of phase during pedaling along the straight path. 2) The bicycle tilt angle is nearly proportional to the square of bicycle speed for the straight and curved paths, and to the curvature for the curved paths. The head tilt angle is the biggest and the body tilt angle is the smallest for the straight path, but the tendency is reversed for the C-curved path. During the curve maneuvering, the rider's head tends to tilt by less than 40% of the bicycle tilt angle.
In this paper, both an approximate expression and an exact expression for the contribution factor of an element to the natural frequency of the finite element discretized system of a structure in general and a membrane in particular have been derived from the energy conservation principle and the finite element formulation of structural eigenvalue problems. The approximate expression for the contribution factor of an element is used to predict and determine the elements to be removed in an iteration since it depends only on the quantities associated with the old system in the iteration. The exact expression for the contribution factor of an element makes it possible to check whether the element is correctly removed at the end of an iteration because it depends on both the old system and the new system in the iteration. Thus, the combined use of the approximate expression and the exact expression allows a considerable number of elements to be removed in a single iteration so that the efficiency of the evolutionary structural optimization method can be greatly improved for solving the natural frequency optimization problem of a structure. A square membrane with different boundary supports has been chosen to investigate the general evolutionary path for the fundamental natural frequency of the structure. The related results indicated that if the objective of a structural optimization is to raise the fundamental natural frequency of the structure to an optimal value, the general evolutionary path during its optimization is that the elements are gradually removed along the direction from the area surrounded by the contour of the highest value to that surrounded by the contour of the lowest value.

This paper presents to predict the powertrain structure-borne noise which is primary resource of interior noise. As the first step, it is built up a hybrid powertrain model which is based on the real powertrain which is verified with static and dynamic properties. The methods for verifying are modal analysis and running vibration testing which are experimentally implemented. Based on the Hybrid powertrain component model, an initial predictive assembly model is simulated. As the second step, the characteristic transfer functions are measured that are dynamic stiffness of rubber mounts and vibro-acoustic transfer function based on the acoustic reciprocity. Several techniques utilizing special experimental devices have been proposed for this research. Finally, the structure-borne noise by powertrain will be predict and verify with dynamic simulation and experiment.
In this paper, Numerical analysis was conducted to study on the reduction of ground vibration level induced by subway train. The analytical results indicated that the soil properties were the predominant factor affecting the ground vibration when the tunnel was located in the soil layer. On the other hand, the rock properties were the predominant one when the tunnel was located in the rock layer. The effects of the angle between the vertical line of vibration source and the receive point on the reduction of vibration level were also evaluated. There were little difference in the reduction of vibration level when the receive point was located within $30^{\circ}$. The vibration level, however, rapidly decreased when the angle between the two points was larger than $40^{\circ}$.

In this study, we propose a more systematic design process for the structure-borne noise. The proposed way consists of 4 steps: Problem definition, Cause analysis, Development of counter-measure and Validation. Especially, we improved the second step: Cause analysis. According to the PCA(Panel Contribution Analysis), a reduction in vibration of the panels of which panel contribution is positive and larger, results in a reduction in structure-borne noise. We have, however, met the case in which the concept of PCA is no valid in a few vehicle tests. In order to understand this phenomenon, we compared the major panels selected by PCA with the one chosen by DSA(Design Sensitivity Analysis). After investigating the difference between the two results, a more improved process is suggested. The proposed one for the second step in the design process consists of not only the previous way: PCA with deformation analysis results but also DSA. It is finally validated that the proposed design process decreases the sound pressure of the concerned noise transfer function more than 3.5 dB.

The aims of this study was to estimate transfer force delivered to cone crusher housing and contribution of force transmission. The rock crushing condition caused vibrations in the cone crusher housing, which were experimentally measured, and frequency response functions (FRF) were also found through modal impact tests. Vibration data and frequency response functions were applied to the transfer path analysis (TPA) model. Next, transfer forces delivered to the cone crusher housing were quantified via the TPA method. Contribution of force transfer was also analyzed based on force estimation results. Finally, this study describes basic concepts and components of the TPA method and reviews its applicability to rotating machinery that experiences impact vibrations and forces.
