The purpose of this study was to compare of the kinematic variables from takeoff preparation to takeoff used by long jumpers who recorded over 8meters in 2002 Busan Asian Game and 2003 Daegu Universiade and 2001 national championship. The kinematic characteristics from the last three stride to takeoff at the takeoff board were analyzed such as velocities, heights and angles. The conclusion were as follows; In order to record over 8meters the national long jumpers should have under 5cm height variation at the penultimate stride of the run-up. In the approach phase the horizontal velocity of the jumpers should reach to 10m/s in touchdown at takeoff board The vertical velocity must have 3.75m/s simultaneously in order to record 8meters. The jumpers need to continue talent of the horizontal velocity in touchdown at takeoff board and require jumping power of the takeoff leg at takeoff board The appropriate body variation range ratio between takeoff and touchdown should be 1.2 vs 1 and the trunk angle at touch down on the board should be close to the erect posture for higher body flight.

Some characteristics of nitrogen-water slug flow were optically measured, in vertical acrylic tubes of 2, 5 and 8 mm diameter. Bubble velocity, bubble and unit cell lengths were measured, by analyzing the light intensity signals from two sets of dot laser-infrared sensor modules mounted along the transparent tubes. Optical images of the bubbles were also taken and analyzed, to measure bubble shapes and liquid film thickness. It was found that the measured bubble velocities were in good agreement with the empirical models in the literature, except for those measured under high superficial velocity condition in the 2 mm tube. Bubble length was found to be the longest in the 2 mm tube, being 4 to 5 times those of the other tubes. Liquid film was found to have developed early in the 2 mm tube, which made the blunt shape of the bubble head. Liquid film thickness in the 8 mm tube was measured at almost twice those of the other tubes.
In this paper, linear dynamic equations are derived from nonlinear dynamic equations of constrained multibody systems using the QR decomposition method. The derived linear equations are applied to a railway vehicle bogie. The vibration characteristics of the railway vehicle are investigated by calculating the natural mode and transfer function of the bogie frame in relation to rail-roughness input. The main modes of the bogie were found below 35Hz, and the local modes above 198Hz. The magnitude of the vertical transfer function varied with the forward velocity due to vertical and pitch modes, which were influenced by the forward velocity. The magnitude of the lateral transfer function was negligibly small, and the mode in the longitudinal direction was excited for longitudinal transfer function regardless of the forward velocity.

In addition to non-meteorological echoes, meteorological echoes with large scattering effects, such as precipitation, cause errors in wind data measured by wind profiler. In the rainfall situation, the Doppler spectrum of wind profiler shows both the rainfall signal and the atmospheric signal as two peaks. The vertical radial velocity is very large due to the falling rain drop. The radial velocity contaminated by rainfall decreases the accuracy of the horizontal wind vector and leads to inaccurate weather analysis. In this study, we developed an algorithm to process raw data of wind profiler and distinguished rainfall signal and wind signal by partitioning bimodal peak for Doppler spectrum in rainfall environment.
This article studies the effects of heat generation/absorption and thermal radiation on the unsteady magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Casson fluid flow past a vertical plate through rotating porous medium with constant temperature and mass diffusion. It is assumed that the plate temperature and concentration level are raised uniformly. For finding the exact solution, a set of non-dimensional partial differential equations is solved analytically using the Laplace transform technique. The influence of various non-dimensional parameters on the velocity are discussed, including the effects of the magnetic parameter M, heat generation/absorption Q, thermal radiation parameter R, Prandtl number Pr, Schmidt number Sc, permeability of porous medium parameter, Casson fluid parameter γ, on velocity, temperature, and concentration profiles, which are discussed through several figures. It is found that velocity, temperature, and concentration profiles in the case of heat generation parameter Q, Casson fluid parameter γ, thermal Grashof number Gr, mass Grashof number Gc, Permeability Porous medium parameter K, and time t have retarding effects. It is also seen that the magnetic field M, Thermal Radiation parameter R, Prandtl field Pr, Schmidt number Sc have reverse effects on it.
In this study, it is first intended to simulate the vertical profile of atmospheric flow in a short wind tunnel. In order to accomplish it, proper devices are designed properly to reduce freestream flow momentum and it is confirmed from the measured velocity profile using hot-wire anemometer that momentum flux of the tunnel free stream can be reduced and desired atmospheric boundary can be created. Second, experiments are performed to identify influences of a surrounding structure measuring correct wind velocity by an anemometer, which are located nearby due to area limitation in actual airport and correction factors are proposed from experimental results. One of findings is that in order to limit the velocity attenuation due to a nearby structure under 10%, wind velocity measuring equipment should be installed at least 6 times of the structure height away from the structure of concern.
An acoustic velocity profiler is developed, which is able to be used for open-channel flow measurement. It measures flow velocity based Doppler effect on acoustic signals, which is estimated by using pulse repetition frequency technique. Laboratory and field tests were made to verify velocity measuring performance of the developed device. It is confirmed that the acoustic velocity profiler can normally measure vertical velocity profile in the range above 0.1 m from the bottom and has equivalent performance to commercial acoustic velocity measuring devices.
The crustal structure of the Korean Peninsula was investigated by analyzing phase velocity dispersion data of Rayleigh waves. Earthquakes recorded by three component broad-band velocity seismographs during 1999-2004 in South Korea were used in this study. The fundamental mode Rayleigh waves were extracted from vertical components of seismograms by multiple filter technique and phase match filter method. Phase velocity dispersion curves of the fundamental mode signal pairs for 14 surface wave propagation paths on the great circle in the range 10 to 80 sec were computed by two-station method. Treating the shear velocity of each layer as an independent parameter, phase velocity data of Rayleigh wave were inverted. All the result models can be explained by a rather homogeneous crust of shear-wave velocity increasing from 2.8 to 3.25 km/sec from top to about 33 km depth without any distinctive crustal discontinuities and an uppermost mantle of shear-wave velocity between 4.55 and 4.67 km/sec. Our results turn out to agree well with recent study of Cho et al. (2006 b) based on the analysis of seismic background noises to recover short-period (0.5-20 sec) Rayleigh- and Love-wave group velocity dispersion characteristics.
The purpose of this study was to analyze kinematic quantitative factors required of a forehand counter drive in table tennis through 3-D analysis. Four national table tennis players participated in this study. The mean of elapsed time for total drive motion was $1.009{\pm}0.23\;s$. At the phase of impact B1 was the fastest as 0.075 s. This may affect efficiency in the initial velocity and spin of the ball by making a powerful counter drive. The pattern of center of mass showed that it moved back and returned to where it was then moved forward. At the back swing, lower stance made wide base of support and a stronger and safer stance. It may help increasing the ball spin. Angle of the elbow was extended up to $110.75{\pm}1.25^{\circ}$ at the back swing and the angle decreased by $93.75{\pm}3.51^{\circ}$ at impact. Decreased rotation range of swinging arm increased linear velocity of racket-head and impulse on the ball. Eventually it led more spin to the ball and maximized the ball speed. Angle of knee joint decreased from ready position to back swing, then increased from the moment of the impact and decreased at the follow thorough. The velocity of racket-head was the fastest at impact of phase 2. Horizontal velocity was $7796.5{\pm}362\;mm/s$ and vertical velocity was $4589.4{\pm}298.4\;mm/s$ at the moment. It may help increase the speed and spin of the ball in a moment. The means of each ground reaction force result showed maximum at the back swing(E2) except A2. Vertical ground reaction force means suggest that all males and females showed maximum vertical power(E2), The maximum power of means was $499.7{\pm}38.8\;N$ for male players and $519.5{\pm}136.7\;N$ for female players.
