External Space Characteristics of the Seowon -A case Study of Sangju Area- (서원의 외부공간 특성 -상주지방의 사례연구-)

  • The research deals with external space Seowon(lecture hall) dedicated to education and memorial rises in Sangju area of Choson Dynasty. Characteristics of Seowon as follow; 1. Seowon of Sangju area were built from the middle of 17C to the beginning of 18C. Ideological background of building functioning were grafted into the belief in the three God governing Childbirth, the theory of feng-shui(wind-and water-magic) which is in close connection with the principles of yin and yang, and confucianism and the philosophy of lao-tze and chung-tze. The formation of space were horizontally arrangement and vertical arrangement as the first-learning and then-ancestor shrine of Youngnam provinces. 2. Background and factors of site selection were applied geographical feature, tried to connect owner home town. 3. The shape of path of flow were simple of vertical and curved composition, were continued, were stabilized through composition of human scale's space by reasonable internal. A case of Sangju area, D/H ratio of the front area of buildings and courts was as follows. D/H=1>Hyangkyo> houses on the river>temples>lecture halls. D/H ratio ot the backside areas is as follows. D/H=1>Hyangkyo>houses on the river>lecture halls. 4. Inner garden were planted deciduous than evergreen trees with Lagerstroemia indica. Enclosed dominant trees were planted by Pinus densiflora, Querces seuata.construct GEM strain, and examined for the expression and functional stability in microcosms.

A Study on the Measurement and Analysis of Whirling Vibration Behavior of Marine Propulsion Shafting System using Gap-sensors

  • Recently, as a result of the application of large and multi-blade propellers with high efficiency for large vessels, the vertical bending stiffness of propulsion shafting system tends to be declined. For some specific vessels, the shaft arrangement leads to the forward stern tube bearing to be omitted, decreasing vertical bending stiffness. In this respect, decreased vertical bending stiffness causes the problem which is the blade order resonance frequency to be placed within the operational rpm range of propulsion shafting system. To verify whirling vibration, the measurement should be carried out covering from operating rpm up to target rpm, however, the range is un-measurable generally. In order to resolve the measurement issue, this study shows the measuring method and the assessment method of relevant natural frequency of whiling vibration by using measured harmonic order component of whirling vibration.

  • This paper established the analytical model of sea surface oscilation of simple type fishing port with vertical wave absorbor. This model is composed by MAEM(Matched Asymptotic Expansion Method) for wave amplification in fishing port and EEM(Eigen - function Expansion Method) for wave absorbing characteristics against vertical perforated plates. Dimensionless porosity by adopting Darcy's law was introduced to evaluate wave absorbing characteristics of the perforated structure. Using the model, the efficiency of the vertical perforated plates was studied for fishing port tranqulity with number of plates, array method and plate intervals. Optimal design and arrangement of perforated plates can be applied to develop multipurpose fishing ports and villages.

  • Jeddah Tower will be the first man-made structure to reach a kilometer in height upon its completion in 2019. From conception, it was clear that an all-concrete superstructure would present many advantages for a building of such unprecedented height and slenderness. An all-concrete structure, however, did present many challenges that needed to be addressed in the system arrangement and through comprehensive analysis and design, among them vertical shortening effects due to the time-dependent creep and shrinkage of concrete. This paper outlines and presents the engineering solutions developed by the authors regarding this complex concrete material phenomenon, while addressing the construction and regional challenges associated with realizing a concrete tower of this unprecedented scale.

  • Pentacene moiety has been widely studied in Organic Thin-Film Transistor (OTFT) device as a channel layer because of high carrier mobility. In this study, we have fabricated vertical type Organic Static Induction Transistors (SITs) using pentacene, 6,13-Dinaphthalen-1-ly-Pentacene (1-DNP, 3), and 6,13-Dinaphthalen-2- ly-Pentacene (2-DNP, 4). 1-DNP and 2-DNP have same naphtyl group with pentacene, but different linked position and spatial arrangement. We have checked the static characteristics of materials in vertical type SITs device. We found that pentacene has as on/off ratio of 14.56, 1-DNP and 2-DNP shows as on/off ratio of 36.58 and 6.61 at VDS = 2V in SIT, respectively.

  • In this paper, the valves for a LPG gas cylinder have been investigated on the body height and weight by comparing design data between typical automatic shut-off vertical and newly developed horizontal valves. The height of an automatic shut-off horizontal valve is radically reduced by 41~42% compared with that of a typical automatic shut-off vertical valve. And, the body weight of a horizontal valve is also reduced by 29~40% compared with that of a vertical shut-off valve. This result is just achieved by a structural design modification from typical vertical valve to horizontal arrangement of various valve components.

Study on Jeok of Jong-ga Ancestral Ritual Food (종가 제례음식의 적(炙)에 관한 연구)

  • This research intended to conduct literary research on 'Jeok' of 25 jong-ga through Jong-ga Ancestral Ritual Formalities and Food, published by the Cultural Heritage National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage during 2003~2008, and compared and analyzed an arranging method and recipe transmission process by directly visiting four Jong-ga. Religious ceremony foods of Jong-ga could be divided according to the standard of the hakpa attribute (large), regional attribute (midium), and family attribute (small), which forms a complex connection structure between the attributes. 'Jeok' arranging form is divided into '3-Jeok building method (vertical structure)', '3-Jeok arrangement method (horizontal structure)', '3-Jeok replacement method', '2-Jeok arrangement method', 'Jeon-Jeok arrangement method', and 'Others-Jeok arrangement method'. Generally, 'jeok' arrangement order per hakpa is in the order of 'meat jeok - chicken jeok - fish jeok' in case of Gihohakpa, whereas Yeongnamhakpa is in the order of 'fish jeok - meat jeok - chicken jeok'. Umoringye (羽毛鱗介), the method of laying 'dojeok' of the Gyeongbuk region, could be found in the 2nd century B.C. Chinese ancient book Hoenamja and the theoretical background was Yin and yang philosophy (陰陽論). This research has significance in terms of securing advanced results compared to advanced research that has so far concentrated on some regions and hakpas.

A Study on the Commercialization Characteristics of 2nd Class Residential District in Inner-city Railway Station Area (역세권 제2종 일반주거지역 상업화 확산과 특성 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the commercialization characteristics of 2nd class residential district in innercity railway station area as basic research to protect urban residential area against the pressure of commercialization. Through the research that are based on literature, field survey and urban planning map, it analysed the commercialization characteristic of selected three sites under similar urban condition; to be a nearby subway station and to be a famous commercial street in site, etc. The consequences of this study are summarized as follows; First it finds the commercialized lots in all blocks that adjoin blocks of upper class zoning. Second it is in inverse proportion between the commercialization of lots and the distance from subway station to residential block. Third, the corner lot of a block and the access road directly connected collector road are very important factors to spread commercialization to residential area. Finally, it finds the difference of the commercialization degree of 2nd class residential zone according to arrange main commercial street and the 2nd class residential block; vertical arrangement and horizontal arrangement.

  • Purpose: Recently, a sudden increase in one household in Korea has become an important social problem. Changes in lifestyles such as population change, marriage, childbirth, and divorce are becoming increasing factors for single-family households. As a result of these changes, the government has implemented policies for one accredited state. However, the policy for one domestic applicant is insufficient compared to other countries. As a measure to cope with the increase in the number of applicants, Shared House has emerged and research on Shared House is necessary. Method: First, we analyze the overall characteristics of domestic share house. And it does a spatial analysis of domestic share house. Especially, it analyzes the relationship between private space and public space. Finally, the plan characteristics are derived based on the analysis results. Result: The results are as follows. First, the type of share house is classified according to the combination of the arrangement of private space and the public space. Second, the larger the scale, the more vertical arrangement than horizontal arrangement. Finally, the character of the share house changes according to the characteristics of the resident.
