The purpose of this study is to delve into the identity of the New-Hanbok style in modern fashion, and to survey its formative characteristics and internal values from the perspective of vernacular design. Arguments can be summed up as follows. The study historically examines the changes in Hanbok and concludes that the social and cultural backgrounds and factors that caused the advent of the New Hanbok are (1) the change and expansion of the basic social, cultural, and popular perception toward the Korean image, (2) the rapid spread of a subculture centering on the younger generation, and (3) the voluntary and systematic activities of nonprofit clubs, communities and private organizations. This is the cycle of the spread of Hanbok, which shows the subcultural selection and development process of upward propagation. Furthermore, the public, in addition to holding fast to an independent attitude regarding their choices, also show that they tolerate diversity. As a perspective of analyzing the New Hanbok style, the study suggests the characteristics of the vernacular design perspective as (1) a spontaneous indigenous nature (2) living everydayness (3) and the subcultural-ness of the era. From such a perspective, the study examines the formative characteristics of the basic costume configuration of the New Hanbok style including jeogori, traditional Korean skirts, Cheollik one-pieces, and Trompe l'oeil one-pieces, and draws out the meanings contained in the New Hanbok style, which are (1) spontaneous indigenous nature and directivity toward tradition, (2) living everydayness and modernity, and (3) open subcultural-ness.

The purpose of this thesis is to study on the source, the introductive process and the phenomenon of the regional tendency into Korean modern interior design. To achieve the purpose of this study, the methods and contents are as follows : 1. Explaining the regionalism in the architecture as the source of the regional tendency. 2. Explaining the introductive process of the regional tendency in Korean modern interior design.. For that, 1)Explaining the traditional expression, the leo-corbusian expression and the organic expression with nature in Korean contemporary architecture 2)Explaining the vernacular expression and the abstract expression in Korean modern art 3. Studying the regional tendency in Korean modern interior design For that, 1)Studying the expression of Korean traditionality 2)Studying the expression of the vernacular 3)Studying the expression of the environmental affinity By theme methods and contents, we will study the introduction of the regional tendency into Korean modern interior design.

There are a lot of differences in the Eastern and Western space culture. Especially, Comparing to Japanese, Koreans are not good at utilizing the small space and react effectively. Therefore, the interior space of public transportation needs to be relatively developed to highly reasonable level in Korea. The purpose of this paper is to propose the concept of Korean tradition in urban transit interior layout, which means vernacular design. The interior layout should be made in terms of the emotional aspect not functional one. In order to study the notion of national character, this study refers the concept of interior layout of the public transportation to the layout of traditional architecture and modern office. The research of vernacular design can provide national character and traditional design and can make a success in a practical use and a visual effect. This study based on the national differences of space will be proposed the outline of interior layout and the shape of interior trims in the public transportation in Korea.

타이포그래피는 기록과 보관 그리고 언어 상의 표현들을 구현하는 그 이상이다. 그것은 다양한 사회 현상이 발효된 문화적 입증이다. 무질서하고 소란스러운 현대 타이포그래피의 경향은 모더니즘을 특징지었던 차가운 합리주의에 대한 거부에서 비롯된다. 모든 학문과 마찬가지로, 디지털 환경을 맞이한 전통적 타이포그래피는 새로운 패러다임을 정립하고 있으며, 이러한 맥락에서 다양한 양상의 풍토적 경향들이 앞다투어 부상하고 있다. 도전과 혁신에 의해 새로운 전환기를 맞고 있는 현대 타이포그래피는 더욱 국지화되고, 세대화되고, 절충화되고, 빈부화되고, 방언화되고, 다문화화되고, 반유미화되는 가운데 부동적 존재였던 기존 위상이 변모되지 않으면 안되게 되었다. 부침을 거듭하는 타이포그래피의 풍토적 경향들은 성공적일 수도 있지만, 실패로 끝날 수도 있다. 그러나 이들의 다양한 실험들은 최소한 현대 타이포그래피의 표현 영역을 확장할 뿐 아니라, 궁극적으로 타이포그래피의 잠재적 데이터를 비축하는 것이다.

Malaysian traditional houses are basically post-and-beam structures raised on pillars, with gabled roofs. They were designed and built by the people themselves to meet specific needs, accommodating the values, economies and ways of life of cultures that produce them. The main purpose of this study is to understand the form and culture of Traditional houses in Malaysia through two parts. The first part is to summarize the general characteristic of traditional houses of Malaysia in the aspect of two different perspectives. One is the climate perspective, for which the analysis was made on the primary characteristics such as the climate, material, structure of the vernacular houses. The other one is the social-cultural perspective which try to find the religion, belief, life style and social and family relationship which controlled the forms of the housing under the surface. As a result, this study summarise and find the outstanding and unique meaning and definition of the traditional houses in Malaysia. The second part is to survey the specific case of the traditional house. Rumah Penghulu which were located in Kuala Lumpur were analyzed. As a result, this study summarise and find the formal and symbolic features of the traditional Malay houses. We hope that this study addresses the blank area in Korean housing studies about Southeast Asia countries which have not been clearly introduced yet.

This study is on investigation of sizes, functions and positions of storage space in the house, which is basically necessary for effective using of limit house space. The Storage spaces in Korean vernacular housings are intensively investigated to evaluate their usage and to ex-tend their utility for modern life. Data and materials on the storage spaces in typical houses were taken from the "NamSa Village" and Urban Single-Detached House provided by K.N.H.C. In order to get the fundamental materials, related references are widely investigated and interview and direct visiting have also been made. The results are obtained as follows. 1. There are many kinds of storage space in the rural detached house, however this space could approximately classified as five kinds. 2. The number of "BYUKJANG" and "BANCHIM" are more equipped in apartment houses rader than rural detached houses. 3. There are more kinds of storage space in the public detached houses rather than the public apartment houses. 4. In the apartment houses constructed by private companies, more storage space are generally equipped rather than public apartment houses. than public apartment houses.

This study aims to analyse the method and strategy of spatial composition in the selective works of Italian architect Carlo Mollino. With the continuos renovation of the interpretative frames and method on modernity and in particular on the spatial phenomenon, works of Mollino, once disregarded by the historiography and evaluated for its peculiarity. emerge as important architectural phenomenons. The intrinsic value in his works also enable to comprehend the complexity and multiplicity of modernity in contemporary architecture. In order to achieve this preposition, six important works were analyzed with three key words, to understand comprehensively the process and the significance of each work and Mollino's contribution in the spatial composition of domestic and public spaces. Evaluation of the spatial strategies in conceptual investigations of Mollino had been underestimated to the relative poor conservation or incomprehension of various work, excluded from the categories of architectural elaborations. This study also aims to contribute, in the broad sense, the dialectical significance of modernity by emphasizing the aspects of his work related with Surrealism and vernacular tradition, as well as with its relationship with the various spatial dispositives.
