It has been reported that the dynamic stress intensity factor for a propagating crack is increasing or decreasing according to the increasement of the crack propagating velocity. It is confirmed in this study that the increasement or decreasement of stress intensity factor with crack growing velocity is accused by loading condition. When the crack propagates under a constant displacement along upper and lower boundary in finite plate, the dynamic stress intensity factor decreases according to the increasement of the propagating crack velocity. When the crack propagates under a constant stress along upper and lower boundary in finite plate, the dynamic stress intensity factor increases according to the increasement of the propagating crack velocity. The increasement or decreasement of stress intensity factor with crack growing velocity is greater in a fast crack propagation velocity than in a slow one.
We computed parameters that affect velocity distribution by applying Chiu's two-dimensional velocity distribution equation based on the theory of entropy probability and acoustic doppler current profiler (ADCP) of Jungmun-stream, Akgeun-stream, and Yeonoe-stream among the nine streams in Jeju Province between July 2011 and June 2015. In addition, velocity and flow were calculated using a surface image velocimeter to evaluate the parameters estimated in the velocity observation section of the streams. The mean error rate of flow based on ADCP velocity data was 16.01% with flow calculated using the conventional depth-averaged velocity conversion factor (0.85), 6.02% with flow calculated using the surface velocity and mean velocity regression factor, and 4.58% with flow calculated using Chiu's two-dimensional velocity distribution equation. If surface velocity by a non-contact velocimeter is calculated as mean velocity, the error rate increases for large streams in the inland areas of Korea. Therefore, flow can be calculated precisely by utilizing the velocity distribution equation that accounts for stream flow characteristics and velocity distribution, instead of the conventional depth-averaged conversion factor (0.85).
In this study, the Chiu-2D velocity-flow rate distribution based on theoretical background of the entropy probability method was applied to actual ADCP measurement data of Gangjung Stream in Jeju from July 2011 to June 2015 to predict the parameter that take part in velocity distribution of the stream. In addition, surface velocity measured by SIV (Surface Image Velocimeter) was applied to the predicted parameter to calculate discharge. Calculated discharge was compared with observed discharge of ADCP observed during the same time to analyze propriety and applicability of depth of water velocity average conversion factor. To check applicability of the predicted stream parameter, surface velocity and discharge were calculated using SIV and compared with velocity and flow based on ADCP. Discharge calculated by applying velocity factor of SIV to the Chiu-2D velocity-flow rate distribution and discharge based on depth of water velocity average conversion factor of 0.85 were $0.7171m^3/sec$ and $0.5758m^3/sec$, respectively. Their error rates compared to average ADCP discharge of $0.6664m^3/sec$ were respectively 7.63% and 13.64%. Discharge based on the Chiu-2D velocity-flow distribution showed lower error rate compared to discharge based on depth of water velocity average conversion factor of 0.85.

Dynamic stress intensity factors are derives when the crack is propagating with constant velocity under longitudinal shear stress in orthotropic disk plate. General stress fields of crack tip propagating with constant velocity and least square method are used to obtain the dynamic stress intensity factor. The dynamic stress intensity factors of GLV/GTV=1(=isotropic material or transversely isotropic material) which is obtained in out study nearly coincides with Chiang's results when mode Ⅲ stress is applied to boundary of isotropic disk. The D.S.I.F. of mode Ⅲ stress is greater when α(=angle of crack propagation direction with fiber direction) is 90° than that when α is 0°. In case of a/D(a:crack length, D:disk diameter)<0. 58, the faster crack propagation velocity, the less D.S.I.F. but when crack propagation velocity arrive on ghear stress wave velocity, the D.S.I.F. but when crack propagation velocity arrive on shear stress wave velocity, the D.S.I.F. unexpectedly increases and decreases to zero.
Flow rate measurement uncertainties of the ultrasonic flow meter are generally influenced by many different factors, such as Reynolds number, flow distortion, turbulence intensity, wall surface roughness, velocity integration method along the acoustic paths, and transducer installation method, etc. Of these influencing factors, one of the most important uncertainties comes from the velocity integration method. In the present study, a optimization weighting factor method for 5-chord, which is given by a function of the chord locations of acoustic paths, is employed to obtain the mean velocity in the flow through a pipe. The power law profile is assumed to model the axi-symmetric pipe flow and its results are compared with the present weighting factor concept. For an asymmetric pipe flow, the Salami flow model is applied to obtain the velocity profiles. These theoretical methods are also compared with the previous Gaussian, Chebyshev, and Tailor methods. The results obtained show that for the fully developed turbulent pipe flows with surface roughness effects, the present weighting factor method is much less sensitive than Chebyshev and Tailor methods, leading to a better reliability in flow rate measurement using the ultrasonic flow meters.
In this paper, a unified time-dependent constitutive model of Darcy flow and non-Darcy flow is proposed. The influencing factors of flow velocity are discussed, which demonstrates that permeability coefficient is the most significant factor. Based on this, the dynamic evolution characteristics of water inrush during tunneling through fault fracture zone is analyzed under the constant permeability coefficient condition (CPCC). It indicates that the curves of flow velocity and hydrostatic pressure can be divided into typical three stages: approximate high-velocity zone inside the fault fracture zone, velocity-rising zone near the tunnel excavation face and attenuation-low velocity zone in the tunnel. Furthermore, given the variation of permeability coefficient of the fault fracture zone with depth and time, the dynamic evolution of water flow in the fault fracture zone under the variable permeability coefficient condition (VPCC) is also studied. The results show that the time-related factor (α) affects the dynamic evolution distribution of flow velocity with time, the depth-related factor (A) is the key factor to the dynamic evolution of hydrostatic pressure.

Grid(pipe network) design is an important element of Smart Water Grid, which essential to estimate hydraulic parameters such as the pressure, friction factor, friction velocity, head loss and energy slope. Especially, friction velocity in a grid is an important factor in conjunction with energy gradient, friction coefficient, pressure and head loss. However, accurate estimation friction head loss, friction velocity and friction factor are very difficult. The empirical friction factor is still estimated by using theory and equation which were developed one hundred years ago. Therefore, in this paper, new equation from maximum velocity and friction velocity is developed by using integration relationship between Darcy-Weisbach's friction head loss equation and Schlichting equation and regression analysis. To prove the developed equation, smooth pipe data areis used. Proposed equation shows high accuracy compared to observed data. Study results are expected to be used in stability improvements and design in a grid.
Objective : We present reference values of flow velocities of intracranial and extracranial cerebral arteries and relation with change factor. Method : We checked transcranial Doppler ultrasonography on mean velocity, systolic velocity, pulsatility index, and resistance index of 252 patients. We also compared differences of change factor. Result : The result showed a difference by sex and age and relevance between vessels besides mean velocity of vessels related with past history and social history. Conclusion : According to the above results, females showed higher velocity of all vessels. With advancing age, subjects showed reduction in velocity and increase in pulsatility index and resistance index. Anterior cerebral, middle cerebral, and posterior cerebral artery increased in proportion to velocity of internal carotid artery and basilar artery. Vessel velocity correlated with diabetes mellitus, hypertension and hyperlipidemia.
This study proposed a wind power generation system utilizing outdoor air on the rooftop and indoor ventilation, which would increase according to the building height, as a way to help to save energy consumption in a building by using wind power energy of the new renewable energy sources. The study measured the distribution of air currents and power generation according to the usage factor of exhaust pipes in the kitchen and bathroom and identified the elements to consider when applying a wind power generation system to buildings in order to use outdoor air on the rooftop increasing according to the height and the indoor ventilation produced in the facility vertical shafts inside the buildings by installing a wind power generation system on the rooftop. (1) The study measured the ventilation velocity of the kitchen hood and bathroom ventilation fan by changing the zone areas by the households according to the usage factor of [${\alpha}$]=33~100%. As a result, the kitchen ventilation pipe generated the ventilation wind of 3.0m/s or more at the usage factor of [${\alpha}$] 66% or higher, and the bathroom ventilation pipe generated ventilation velocity lower than 3.0m/s, the blade velocity of the wind power generator, even after the usage factor rose to [${\alpha}$]=100%. (2) As the old bathroom ventilation pipe generated the ventilation velocity of 3.0m/s, the blade velocity of the wind power generator, even with the rising usage factor [${\alpha}$], the application of an outdoor air induction module increased the ventilation velocity by 2.9m/s at the usage factor of [${\alpha}$]=33%, 3.8m/s at the usage factor of [${\alpha}$]=66%, and 3.6m/s at the usage factor of [${\alpha}$]=100%. Thus the ventilation velocity of 3.0m/s, the blade velocity of the wind power generator, or higher was secured. (3) The findings prove that the applicability of a wind power generation system using outdoor air on the rooftop and indoor ventilation is excellent, which raises a need for various efforts to increase the possibility of its commercialization such as securing its structural stability according to momentary gusts on the rooftop and typhoons in summer and making the structure light to react to the wind directions of outdoor air on the rooftop according to the seasons.
Among several non-destructive testing methods, ultrasonic pulse velocity method and rebound index method have been widely used for the evaluation of concrete strength. However, such methods might not provide accurate estimated results since factors influencing the relationship between strength and either ultrasonic pulse velocity or rebound index are not considered. In this paper, the evaluation method of concrete strength using rod-wave velocity measured by impact-resonance method is proposed. A basic equation is obtained by the linear regression of velocity vs, strength data at specific age and then, aging factor is employed in the equation to consider the difference of the increasing rate between wave velocity and strength. Strengths predicted by the proposed equation agree well with test results. Furthermore, the combined method of rod-wave velocity and rebound index is proposed.
