With rapid growth of the wireless mobile computing network technologies, various mobile ad hoc network applications converged with other related technologies are rapidly disseminated nowadays. Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks are self-organizing mobile ad hoc networks that typically have moving vehicle nodes with high speeds and maintaining its topology very short with unstable communication links. Therefore, VANETs are very vulnerable for the malicious noise of sensors and anomalies of the nodes in the network system. In this paper, we propose an anomaly detection method by using big data techniques that efficiently identify malicious behaviors or noises of sensors and anomalies of vehicle node activities in these VANETs, and the performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated by a simulation study in terms of anomaly detection rate and false alarm rate for the threshold ${\epsilon}$.
In an Intelligent Transport System(ITS), data dissemination based on inter-vehicle communication is effective for acquiring real-time traffic-jam information. In this paper, we propose a novel method for traffic jam information dissemination in vehicular ad-hoc networks. In our proposed method, vehicles already trapped in a Traffic-Jam elect leaders according to their locations from upstream and downstream respectively. Then each leader generates traffic data which contains their position, velocity and leader counter respectively, and disseminate the information. {{br}}The implementation of our proposed method is evaluated by means of simulation, and we also present simulation result
Greedy protocols show good performance in Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) environment in general. But they make longer routes causing by surroundings or turn out routing failures in some cases when there are many traffic signals which generate empty streets temporary, or there is no merge roads after a road divide into two roads. When a node selects the next node simply using the distance to the destination node, the longer route is made by traditional greedy protocols in some cases and sometimes the route ends up routing failure. Most of traditional greedy protocols just take into account the distance to the destination to select a next node. Each node needs to consider not only the distance to the destination node but also the direction to the destination while routing a packet because of geographical environment. The proposed routing scheme considers both of the distance and the direction for forwarding packets to make a stable route. And the protocol can configure as the surrounding environment. We evaluate the performance of the protocol using two mobility models and network simulations. Most of network performances are improved rather than in compared with traditional greedy protocols.

Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET) is a special form of Mobile Ad-hoc Network designed to provide communications among nearby vehicles without communications infrastructure. Some characteristics in VANET environment such as high mobility, dynamic topology and selfishness of nodes can cause degradation of network quality. In this paper, we propose an adaptive incentive/topology control scheme to improve network quality in VANET by stimulating real time data forwarding and reporting changes of network topology. In the proposed scheme, an incentive suggested by the source node is updated in real time simultaneously with data transmission to stimulate real time data forwarding. In addition, when the order of the nodes in the path is changed, nodes which report the changes of network topology will get an additional incentive. By computer simulation, it is shown that the proposed incentive/topology control scheme outperforms the conventional schemes with respect to data delivery time and data delivery ratio.

Vehicular-to-anything (V2X) technology is attractive for wireless vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) because it allows for opportunistic choice of a vehicular protocol between vehicular-to-vehicular (V2V) and vehicular-to-infrastructure (V2I) communications. In particular, achieving seamless connectivity in a VANET with nearby network infrastructure is challenging. In this paper, we propose a density-based opportunistic broadcasting (DOB) protocol, in which opportunistic connectivity is carried out by using the nearby infrastructure and opposite vehicles for solving the problems of disconnection and long end-to-end delay times. The performance evaluation results indicate that the proposed DOB protocol outperforms the considered comparative conventional schemes, i.e., the shortest path protocol and standard mobile WiMAX, in terms of the average end-to-end delay, packet delivery ratio, handover latency, and number of lost packets.

Device-to-device (D2D) communications, a subset of Proximity-based Services that enables direct communication between LTE network subscribers, is gaining popularity. It is well underway to be adopted in cellular communication systems for pedestrian and connected-vehicles alike. In this paper, we briefly present our model of an Evolved Packet Core Network-assisted device discovery simulator and show the applicability of Proximity-based Services for Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks. Through the performance evaluation based on the developed simulation environment, it is shown that in case when users gather in the same vicinity, as in public transportation, LTE network data can be efficiently offloaded and multicasted through Wi-Fi for e.g. delivering traffic-related information and for the benefit of infotainment service consumers.

In the Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET), the data transmission of time-sensitive applications requires low latency, such as accident warnings, driving guidance, etc. However, frequent changes of topology in VANET will result in data transmission failures. In order to improve the efficiency of VANETs data transmission and increase the timeliness of data, this paper proposes a relay scheme based on Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) trajectory prediction, which can be used to select the optimal relay vehicle to transmit data. The proposed scheme learns vehicle trajectory in a distributed manner and calculates the predicted trajectory, and then the optimal vehicle can be selected to complete the data transmission, which ensures the timeliness of the data. Finally, we carry out a set of simulations to demonstrate the performance of the algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme enhances the timeliness of the data and the accuracy of the predicted driving trajectory.

Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET) is considered to be a subclass of Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANET). It has some challenges and issues of privacy which require to be solved before practical implementation of the system i.e., location preservation privacy. Many schemes have been proposed. The most prominent is pseudonym change based location preservation scheme. Safety message can be compromised when it sends via a wireless medium, consequently, an adversary can eavesdrop the communication to analyze and track targeted vehicle. The issue can be counter by use of pseudo identity instead of real and their change while communication proves to be a sufficient solution for such problems. In this context, a large amount of literature on pseudonym change strategies has been proposed to solve such problems in VANET. In this paper, we have given details on strategies proposed last two decades on pseudonym change based location preservation along with issues that they focus to resolve and try to give full understanding to readers.

The expansion of new applications and business models is being significantly fueled by the development of Fifth Generation (5G) networks, which are becoming more widely accessible. The creation of the newest intelligent vehicular networks and applications is made possible by the use of Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) and Software Defined Networking (SDN). Researchers have been concentrating on the integration of SDN and VANET in recent years, and they have examined a variety of issues connected to the architecture, the advantages of software-defined VANET services, and the new features that can be added to them. However, the overall architecture's security and robustness are still in doubt and have received little attention. Furthermore, new security threats and vulnerabilities are brought about by the deployment and integration of novel entities and a number of architectural components. In this study, we comprehensively examine the good and negative effects of the most recent SDN-enabled vehicular network topologies, focusing on security and privacy. We examine various security flaws and attacks based on the existing SDVN architecture. Finally, a thorough discussion of the unresolved concerns and potential future study directions is provided.
