In this paper, we propose a new opportunistic routing scheme based on timed bargaining game. The proposed algorithm effectively formulates the opportunistic routing mechanism as an repeated bargaining model using timed learning method. Additionally, we formulate a new contention window adjusting scheme for reduce collision rate. Simulation results indicate that the proposed scheme has excellent performance than other existing schemes under widely diverse VANET environments.

Advancements in automobile industries and the communication technologies caused VANET (Vehicular Ad Hoc NETwork) to evolve to VANET-based clouds before its deployment. It is more likely that VANET clouds will replace the traditional VANET in the deployment phase. It is to be noted that an abrupt deployment is out of question because it would require mass of resources and money to do so; instead incremental deployment is more ideal. In this paper, we aim at the incremental deployment phase of VANET clouds and focus on the well-established public transport networks. Data aggregation is one of the essential aspects in traditional VANET and has been researched for quite long time. However the previously proposed schemes are still controversial. Keeping in mind the time and space prediction of public buses, we leverage these buses as potential aggregators and MG (Mobile Gateways) in VANET clouds. Buses gather cooperative whereabouts information from neighbors, aggregate that information, disseminate it to the neighbor MGs and also send it to the cloud for storage and for services exchange. In our proposed scheme, we believe that the dissemination will be effective and cover most of the urban area since at any instant of time; buses cover most part of the urban areas. Besides, the effective transmission range is higher due to tall buses.

A Vehicular Ad-Hoc Network (VANET) is form of the Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) to provide temporary communication among vehicles via wireless links. In VANET, the vehicle is one of the nodes in networks and communicates with each other. However, the wireless links disconnect very frequently, because vehicles have mobility and move freely. The reason why data accessibility degrades is that disconnection occurs frequently. To improve data accessibility, data replica allocation methods that made group to allocate data replica have proposed in MANET. However, those are not suitable because it is difficult to maintain stable links among the nodes moving fast by centralized group. In this paper, we proposed TBG (Tree Based Grouping) to allocate data replica with the distributed grouping method. Each node has own TBG and allocates data replica based on stability of links to improve data accessibility. The experiment demonstrates that the proposed method outperforms traditional methods in term of data accessibility.

With the development of IT Info-Communications technology, the vehicle with a combination of wireless-communication technology has resulted in significant research into the convergence of the component of existing traffic with information, electronics and communication technology. Intelligent Vehicle Communication is a Machine-to-Machine (M2M) concept of the Vehicle-to-Vehicle. The Vehicle-to-Infrastructure communication consists of safety and the ease of transportation. Security technologies must precede the effective Intelligent Vehicle Communication Structure, unlike the existing internet environment, where high-speed vehicle communication is with the security threats of a wireless communication environment and can receive unusual vehicle messages. In this paper, the Vehicle Identification number between the V2I and the secure message communication protocol was proposed using hash functions and a time stamp, and the validity of the vehicle was assessed. The proposed system was the performance evaluation section compared to the conventional technique at a rate VPKI aspect showed an approximate 44% reduction. The safety, including authentication, confidentiality, and privacy threats, were analyzed.
Wi-Fi based vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication is an emerging solution to improve the safety, traffic efficiency, and comfort of passengers. However, due to the high mobility of vehicles and the limited coverage of Wi-Fi APs, the V2I system may suffer from frequent handoffs although roadside APs can support cost effective Internet connectivity. Such problem of V2I systems can be overcome with Mobile AP (MAP) platform. The MAPs yield longer service duration by moving along with vehicles, yet they provide a lower link capacities than the roadside APs. In this paper, we propose a new association control mechanism that effectively determines whether the vehicle will select a fixed roadside-AP or a nearby MAP in mobile vehicular network environments. We consider both the achievable link bandwidth and available connection duration as a selection criterion and provide their run-time estimation method. Extensive simulation using real traces show significant performance improvements.

VANET (Vehicular Ad hoc NETwork) is one of the special cases of the ad hoc networks in which car nodes communicate with each other and/or with RSUs (Road Side Unit) in order for the drivers to receive nearby road traffic information as well as for the passengers to retrieve nearby gas price or hotel information. In case of constructing VANET over CCN, users do not need to specify a destination server address rather to input a key word such as nearby congestion in order to gather surrounding traffic congestion information. Furthermore, each car node caches its retrieved data for forwarding other nodes when requested. In addition, the data transmission is inherently multicast, which implies fast data propagation to the participating car nodes. This paper measures and evaluates the data transmission performance of the VCCN (VANET over CCN) in which nodes are equipped with diverse wireless communication channels. The simulation result indicates that 802.11a shows the best performance of the data transmission against other wireless channels. Moreover, it indicates that VCCN improves overall data transmission and provides benefit to the nodes that request the same traffic information by exploiting inherent multicast communication.

Recently, research on mobile edge services has been conducted to handle computationally intensive and latency-sensitive tasks occurring in wireless networks. However, MEC, which is fixed on the ground, cannot flexibly cope with situations where task processing requests increase sharply, such as commuting time. To solve this problem, a technology that provides edge services using UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) has emerged. Unlike ground MEC servers, UAVs have limited battery capacity, so it is necessary to optimize energy efficiency through load balancing between UAV MEC servers. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a load balancing technique with consideration of the energy state of UAVs and the mobility of vehicles. The proposed technique is composed of task offloading scheme using genetic algorithm and task migration scheme using Q-learning. To evaluate the performance of the proposed technique, experiments were conducted with varying mobility speed and number of vehicles, and performance was analyzed in terms of load variance, energy consumption, communication overhead, and delay constraint satisfaction rate.

VANET technologies provide real-time traffic information for mitigating traffic jam and preventing traffic accidents, as well as in-vehicle infotainment service through Telematics/Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). Due to the rapid increasement of various requirements, the vehicle communication with a limited resource and the fixed frame architecture of the conventional techniques is limited to provide an efficient communication service. Therefore, a new flexible operation depending on the surrounding situation information is required that needs an adaptive design of the network architecture and protocol for efficiently predicting, distributing and sharing the context-aware information. In this paper, Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) based on communication between vehicle and a Road Side Units (RSU) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) based on communication between vehicles are effectively combined in a new MAC architecture and V2I and V2V vehicles collaborate in management. As a result, many vehicles and RSU can use more efficiently the resource and send data rapidly. The simulation results show that the proposed method can achieve high resource utilization in accordance. Also we can find out the optimal transmission relay time and 2nd relay vehicle selection probability value to spread out V2V/V2I collaborative schedule message rapidly.

In vehicle ad-hoc network (VANET) environments, traffic related information such as accident information, emergency information and real time traffic condition have to be delivered to on-board-unit (OBU) or/and road-side-equipment (RSE) for preventing traffic accidents in advance. In this paper, we introduce a Multi-Channel MAC (MCM) since the existing single channel operation may cause packet transmission delay and unexpected communication failure. To offer a seamless safety message transmission during the various services, it is necessary to manage the MAC scheduler in wireless access in vehicular environments (WAVE) systems. The MCM consists of MAC softwares and MAC hardwares where the former and the later ones are implemented with real time operation system based C language and FPGA module with VHDL language, respectively. The performance and QoS are verified by practical measurements and compared with the scheme using single channel operation.

In vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs), vehicles sense information on emergency incidents (e.g., accidents, unexpected road conditions, etc.) and propagate this information to following vehicles and a server to share the information. However, this process of emergency message propagation is based on multiple broadcast messages and can lead to broadcast storms. To address this issue, in this work, we use a novel approach to detect the vehicles that are farthest away but within communication range of the transmitting vehicle. Specifically, we discuss a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR)-based linear back-off (SLB) scheme where vehicles implicitly detect their relative locations to the transmitter with respect to the SNR of the received packets. Once the relative locations are detected, nodes that are farther away will set a relatively shorter back-off to prioritize its forwarding process so that other vehicles can suppress their transmissions based on packet overhearing. We evaluate SLB using a realistic simulation environment which consists of a NS-3 VANET simulation environment, a software-based WiFi-IP gateway, and an ITS server operating on a separate machine. Comparisons with other broadcasting-based schemes indicate that SLB successfully propagates emergency messages with latencies and hop counts that is close to the experimental optimal while reducing the number of transmissions by as much as 1/20.
