Development of Road Profile Realization Software (로드 프로파일 재현 소프트웨어 개발)

  • In the recent day, fatigue life prediction techniques play a major role in the design of components in the ground vehicle industry. Full scale durability testing in the laboratory is an essential of any fatigue life evaluation of components or structures of the automotwe vehicle. Component testing is part~cularly important in today's highly competitive industries where the design to reduce weight and production costs must be balanced with the necessity to avoid expensive service failure. Generally, multi-axial road simulator is used to carry out the fatigue test and the vibration test. In this paper, the algorithm and software to realize the real road profile are developed. The validity of the software are verified by applying the belgian road, the city road, the highway, and the gravel road. The results of the above experiment show that the real road profiles are realized well after loth iteration.

  • The KSR-III developed by KARI is the first rocket vehicle which is adopting the liquid propellant rocket engine system in Korea and its flight test was successfully done last year. KSR-III is a sounding rocket class launch vehicle, but there is a sense to accomplish design, manufacture, performance test and finally its flight test by domestic technology. In this paper, the authors are intended to introduce the multi-purpose test facility(PTA-II Test Facility) which is constructed for the variety of tests on KSR-III feeding system(single component tests, verification tests, cold flow tests and combustion tests) and its test results.

  • Magnetic Sensors can be employed to localize the unmanned vehicle which is running a predefined path where magnets are embedded for certain spaces. Among various sensor types, sensor arrays of 1-dimensional magnetic sensor have the merit of easy elimination of external magnetic component such as terrestrial magnetism. However, interpolation should be considered in the array sensors in order to increase the precision level because there is a limit in arranging sensors in close interval. We propose the novel interpolation method which can be performed with simple computation and represents the improved accuracy by increasing the linearity of the interaction formula. Demonstration of the linearity and simulation results show the proposed method exhibits the improved accuracy compared to the conventional method.

Component testing is particulary important in today's highly competitive industries where the design to reduce weight and production costs must be balanced with the necessity to avoid expensive service failure. Generally, 3-axis durability testing device is used to carry out the fatigue test. In this paper, The operation software for simultaneously driving 3-axis vibration testing device is developed and the displacement of the 3-axis actuator is separately calibrated by LDT Moreover, the input and output data are displayed in windows of PC controller with real time.

  • There is a trend with driveline lubricants toward improved thermal stability, vehicle component durability and fuel efficiency. These improvements can significantly reduce vehicle operating costs and improve customer satisfaction. Of these improvements, the fuel efficiency is getting a substantial attention due to recent focus on $CO_2$ emission control in Europe, Japan and $CAF{\'{E}}$ requirement in U.S.A. Lower viscosity axle oils and transmission fluids are currently being evaluated as potential solutions since these lubricants tend to reduce the churning losses and can improve the fuel efficiency. However, these lubricants should provide adequate gear and bearing protection, while increasing the overall efficiency of the driveline components. In this paper, the development of new fuel efficient axle was discussed with the focus on the effect of base oils, additives, and viscosity modifiers on the fuel efficiency of driveline components.

  • Recently industry of motor vehicle is making a gradual progress of automotive electric components. According to this step, wire harness equipped at motor vehicle is also increased. The most important component at the wire harness is electric connector. At the manufacturing process of electric connector, exactly at the crimping process, design variables, such as clamping-height, clamping-width and clamping die shape are critical parameters to assure satisfactory harness shape in clamping process of electric connector. In this study we have performed FEM simulation for clamping process and clarified the effect of design variables on compression rate of wire.

  • The interior vehicle noise due to the exterior aerodynamic field is an important topic in the acoustic design of a car. The air flow detached from the A-pillar and impacting the side windows are of particular interest as they are located close to the driver / passenger and provides a lower insulation index than the trimmed car body parts. This paper presents a numerical analysis method for a simplified vehicle model. The internal air cavity including trim component are included in the simulation. The car body includes the windshield and two side windows. The body is made of aluminum and trimmed with porous layers. The methodology proposed in this paper relies on two steps: the first step involves the computation of the exterior flow and turbulence induced non-linear acoustic field using CFD Code. The second step consists in the computation of the vibro-acoustic transmission through the window using the finite element vibro-acoustic solver Actran.

  • In this study we conduct the optimal spot-weld layout design of vehicle body structure considering dynamic stiffness and side impact. We conduct both linear static analysis and nonlinear analysis with a baseline model to verify the process. 13 design variables will be selected for the effect analysis. Then, topology optimization is conducted to each selected design variable. The design constraints are formulated to improve the dynamic stiffness and side impact performance. Objective function is to set the density of weld component. Optimal spot-weld layout design are compared with the baseline model to show the improvement.
