In the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Line-Of-Sight datalink system, there is a possibility that the communication line is disconnected because line of sight can not be secured by one antenna due to changes in position and posture of the air vehicle. In order to prevent this, both top and bottom of air vehicle are equipped with antennas. At this time, if the signal can be transmitted and received by switching to an antenna advantageous for securing the line of sight, communication disconnection can be minimized. The legacy antenna switching method has disadvantages such that diffraction, fading due to the surface or obstacles, interference and reflection of the air vehicle are not considered, or antenna switching standard is not clear. In this paper, we propose an airborne antenna switching method for improving the performance of UAV LOS datalink system. In the antenna switching method, the performance of each of the upper and lower parts of the mounted antenna according to the position and attitude of the air vehicle is predicted by using the deep learning in an UAV LOS datalink system in which only the antenna except the receiver is duplicated. Simulation using flying test dataset shows that it is possible to switch antennas considering the position and attitude of unmanned aerial vehicle in the datalink system.

In order to use a GPS antenna for launch vehicles, it should be installed on the skin of the vehicle and be able to normally receive the live GPS signals during the vehicle's full flight mission. The GPS antenna on the surface of the launch vehicle is, however, exposed to higher temperature than inner equipments of the vehicle due to aerodynamic heating generated during the flight. Test specification of the GPS antenna for qualification of hot-temperature is determined to $+95^{\circ}C$ that is higher than inner components by $25^{\circ}C$. Test results in this paper show that the GPS antenna normally operates under the above environment.

In this study, an OTM(on-the-move) antenna which is mounted on ground vehicles and is used for mobile communication between vehicle and satellite while moving was addressed. Since LOS(line-of-sight) of antenna should direct satellite consistently while vehicle moving to guarantee high satellite communication quality, active antenna LOS stabilization is a core technology for OTM antenna. Stabilization of a satellite tracking antenna which consists of 2-DOF gimbals, an elevation gimbal over an azimuth gimbal, was considered in this study. In consideration of driving mechanism which consists of gear train and flexible driving shafts, a two-mass-system dynamic model coupled with vehicle motion was presented. An internal PI-control loop + outer PI-control loop structure has been suggested in order to damp the torsional vibration and stabilize control system. The classical pole-placement method was applied to design control gains. In addition, a vehicle motion compensation control beside of the feedback control loop has been suggested to improve LOS stabilization performances. The feasibility of the proposed control design was verified along with some experimental results.

The tracking antenna must always point to track moving vehicle for data link. In this paper, we determine pointing angle from the geometric relationship of antenna and UAV(Unmaned Aerial Vehicle) to let an antenna be toward a moving vehicle. The pointing angle of antenna is set through GPS measurement data installed in antenna and UAV. We verify the performance of this system from the fixing a camcoder on the antenna.

In this paper, the antenna radiation pattern inside the vehicle is presented for observing the change occurring in non-anechoic environment using monopole antenna. The environment for radio communication can be affected by antenna characteristic variation inside the small space existing multi reflection waves. To perform simulation and measurement about antenna radiation pattern, the radio frequency bands for GPS and Wibro services expected to use inside the vehicle is selected. The simulation is based on the ray-tracing method and the radiation pattern is measured inside the vehicle and in free space using monopole antenna having those frequency bands. In accordance with the measurement and simulation results, when two antennas are put inside the vehicle, the omni-directional characteristic of the antenna is maintained but the received power is increased than free space case and the difference between the each case of measurements is increased as the operating frequency is increased.
In this paper, test-bed for the evaluation of wireless communication system on a small launch vehicle is proposed. The proposed test-bed consists of antenna test-coupler, RF attenuators, and RF switch modules. The antenna test-coupler isolates antennas for each band and transmits / receives wireless signals. The RF attenuator and switch are used for path selection of testing signal path. In design and measurement result of the antenna test-coupler, the antenna test-coupler has shielding effect higher than 39.3, 47.1, 56.1 dB at UHF-, S-, X-band. Through testing on small launch vehicle wireless communication system, we were able to successfully transmit and receive data between each test system and launch vehicle with antenna path switching.

The existing antenna that equipped with Micro Aerial Vehicle, microstrip antenna only can send and receive image signal because of limited bandwidth. But, proposed antenna that equipped with Micro Aerial Vehicle flight introduces tapered type patch antenna, also improves bandwidth then can transfer present location, altitude, movement speed. Furthermore, as a result of introduce stacked type, it transfers more quality of image signal, and represents most suitable performance in Korean peninsula that has many mountain peaks. In this paper, to transmit and receive the wideband signals with a antenna system, the wideband microstrip antenna is proposed and designed. This antenna operates at 2.4GHz. In this thesis, the resonance frequency of 2.4GHz and the reflective loss of the antenna of -22dB were calculated by measuring the fabricated Tapered Microstrip Patch Antenna which was designed with the resonance of 2.4GHz. The calculated gain and efficiency of antenna were 6.7dB and $60\%$ respectively. The characteristic of the bandwidth shows with $50\~60MHz$ which is $6.02\%$ at the basis of -l5dB reflective loss. The experimental results can be used in the characteristic of the resonators and this antenna produces a greatly enhanced bandwidth.
An L-band omnidirectional circular polarized wave antenna is designed and evaluated for transmitting/receiving of vehicle data. Conventional linear polarized wave antenna can not reveive clearly all of the vehicle data which come from the wide driving test range on account of distortion. To overcome this problem, an omnidirectional circular polarized wave antenna is required for the design, first of all, the characteristics, design principle and theoretical background of circular polarized wave with a little signal loss have been reviewed. The designed antenna characteristics an analysed and compared to the desired ones. Our results demonstrate that the strength of vehicle data is flat enough over the full test range using this new antenna.

In this paper, the spiral antenna with the center frequencies of 315MHz, 433MHz, and 447MHz for RKE system of a vehicle is designed on PCB. The antenna is microstrip line-fed, and applied PIFA concept near the feeding part to easily tune center frequency and input impedance. The PIFA-type spiral antenna with the size of $30mm{\times}20mm$ is designed on printed PCB by considering the effect of circuits and components on PCB, ECU case and vehicle body. Also chip inductor inserted dual-band spiral antenna of 315MHz and 447MHz is designed. We found that the antenna designed on PCB satisfied the antenna specifications through measurement and field test.
The tracking antenna system must be always pointed to target moving vehicle. Especially, for an antenna mounted on a movable vehicle, it needs the stabilized antenna system. In this paper, two types of fuzzy controller were derived and applied to a data link antenna system and the altitude control of unmanned helicopter, respectively. A simplified Fuzzy-PID controller was designed for 2-axes antenna stabilization and tracking system and the performance was verified by simulations and experiments. Computer simulations were performed by Matlab and SIMULINK. A 2-Axes antenna (SeaTel 1898 model) was selected as test platform of this research. The antenna was modified by using two Blushless Direct Current motors and an embedded DSP controller. To verify the performance of designed antenna servo control system, the performance of the conventional PID controller and that of the Fuzzy-PID controller, designed by the same PID control gains, were compared.
