  • This study investigates the Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) Method for the railroad vehicle. Recently, RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety) is one of the most important issues in the railroad industry. FMECA is prerequisite for the RAMS Analysis, and it is a procedure to identify the potential failure modes and their effects and to reduce or mitigate the critical effects on the system. FMECA is used in various industries and it is specialized in each industry. For instance, MIL-1629a and SAE-J1739 are specialized FMECA method for Military industry and Automotive industry, respectively. Although the railroad industry requires the high reliability system, it does not have a specialized FMECA yet. Thus, in this paper, an FMECA method specialized to the railroad vehicle was proposed through analyses and comparison of the MIL-1629a, SAE-J1739 and IEC-60812 standards.

  • In the 1990s, South Korea recently launched Space Development and is pushing for a step toward Space. In the Space Launch Vehicle field, the development of Practical satellite type Launch Vehicle (Korea Space Launch Vehicle II) has progressed to the stage of proprietary development, and in the field of Satellite development, they also have a great deal of competitiveness. This study will be a shortcut to rediscovering our potential and looking for breakthroughs by reviewing and re-examining the effects of past Space development.

  • Purpose: This study examined a comprehensive model for assessing the success probability of electric vehicle (EV) commercialization in the Korean market. The study identified three risks associated with successful commercialization which were technology, social, policy, environmental, and consumer risk. Research design, methodology: The assessment of the riskiness was represented by a Bayes belief network, where the probability of success at each stage is conditioned on the outcome of the preceding stage. Probability of success in each stage is either dependent on input (i.e., investment) or external factors (i.e., air quality). Initial input stages were defined as the levels of investment in product R&D, battery technology, production facilities and battery charging facilities. Results: Reasonable levels of investment were obtained by expert opinion from industry experts. Also, a survey was carried out with 78 experts consisting of automaker engineers, managers working at EV parts manufacturers, and automobile industry researchers in government think tanks to obtain the conditional probability distributions. Conclusion: The output of the model was the likelihood of success - expressed as the probability of market acceptance - that depended on the various input values. A model is a useful tool for understanding the EV industry as a whole and explaining the likely ramifications of different investment levels.

  • There are many type vehicles in army. They are jeep and truck by basic type. Recently many countries are developing new conceptual military vehicles. And they try for export of those military vehicles to another countries. Also Korea Army is developing military tactical and combat vehicles, and considering various necessary factors for export. But as easing the cold war system tension and reducing of defense budget, decrease in quantity of military vehicles. We think this trend is accelerative. Therefore Government(Military) and defense industry make every effort to increasing sales and productions. In this study, I'll inquire '2013~2017 basic plan for defense industry promotion' for strengthen the power of international competitiveness, and then suggest the increasing method for productions of military vehicles.

  • In this paper, we analyze the research / technology trends of electric vehicles from 2001 to 2014, through keyword analysis using paper data published in SCIE or SSCI Journal on electric vehicles, time series analysis using patent data by IPC, and network analysis using nodeXL. also we predicted promising technologies of electric vehicles using one of the prediction methods, weighted moving average method. As a result of this study, battery technology among the electric vehicle component technologies appeared as a promising technology.

  • The structures for road safety are guard rails that protect the cars and passengers. If an accident occurs on the roads after a long period of installation, it may escalate into a major disaster. In order to repair many guard rails, the existing repair method of replacing them with new ones requires enormous financial resources. To solve this problem, the G-SAVE method was developed to repair the guard rail without replacing them. This method removes the rust on the surface of the guard rail and then performs ambient-dip galvanizing coating on it without replacing the new ones. No studies or reports have yet been made on the risk assessment of harmful substances, vehicles for these entire processes. Therefore, this paper focuses on risk assessment using the PHA (Preliminary Hazard Analysis) technique and conducts risk assessment for concept design stage of the coating vehicles.

  • This paper presents an investigation of a vehicle-to-vehicle distance control using a Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulation(HiLS) system. Since vehicle tests are costly and time consuming, how to establish a efficient and low cost development tool is an important issue. The HiLS system consists of a stepper motor, an electronic vacuum booster, a controller unit and two computers which are used to form real time simulation and to save vehicle parameters and signals of actuator through a CAN(Controller Area Network). Adoption of a CAN for communication is a trend in the automotive industry. Since this environment is the same as that of a real vehicle, a distance control logic verified in laboratory can be easily transfered to a test vehicle.

  • A recent trend of 'Smart Technology' has changed the simple and normal car into smart vehicle. Smart vehicle has a complex aspects of technologies and Wireless Access in Vehicular Environment (WAVE) is the technology that is mentioned for the communication infrastructure of Smart Vehicle. The current status about WAVE in Korea, however, is not good to be used in smart vehicular communication. The reason for that is that the frequency band for WAVE is not assigned or allocated in Korea. In this paper, we will explore the current status of technology standard for WAVE and investigate the way of frequency allocation for WAVE with the survey analysis from the smart vehicle industry.

  • By mobile technique and vehicle industry development, vehicle service industry based on Intelligent network as telematics service will be more raised. Most of countries expect its industrial market so that many researches and standardization are being advanced. For the telematics service, the vehicle safety technique will be very important so that its research should be expected. Hence, in this paper, we propose a design mechanism for the alerting car accident to identify or avoid dangerous accident by the network of cars.

  • A few clues about correlation between endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and mulberry (Morus alba) leaves were investigated in only the experimental autoimmune myocarditis and streptozotocin-induced diabetes. To investigate whether a novel extract of mulberry leaves fermented with Cordyceps militaris (EMfC) could suppress ER in fatty liver, alterations in the key parameters for ER stress response were measured in high fat diet (HFD)-induced obese C57L/6 mice treated with EMfC for 12 weeks. The area of adipocytes in the liver section were significantly decreased in the HFD+EMfC treated group as compared to the HFD+Vehicle treated group, while their level was higher in HFD+Vehicle treated group than No treated group. The level of the eukaryotic initiation factor 2 alpha ($eIF2{\alpha}$) and inositol-requiring enzyme 1 beta ($IRE1{\alpha}$) phosphorylation and CCAAT-enhancer-binding protein homologous protein (CHOP) expression were remarkably enhanced in the HFD+Vehicle treated group. However, their levels were restored in the HFD+EMfC treated group, although some differences were detected in the decrease rate. Similar recovery was observed on the ER stress-induced apoptosis. The level of Caspase-3, Bcl-2 and Bax were decreased in the HFD+EMfC and HFD+orlistat (OT) treated group compared to the HFD+Vehicle treated group. The results of the present study therefore provide first evidence that EMfC with the anti-obesity effects can be suppressed ER stress and ER stress-induced apoptosis in the hepatic steatosis of HFD-induced obesity model.
