In the past few years, there are many studies and researches of the underwater vehicles which are carried out its mission using sonar sensors. MSCL(Marine System Control Lab.) at Inha University developed test-bed small ROV, ISRO. ISRO is an open-frame type and has 4 thrusters. ISRO can control 4 motions i.e surge, sway, yaw and heave with sonar sensors. ISRO is developed for inspection of ship hull, marine structure, plant of lake or river and so on. When ROV ISRO inspects something, it is necessary to control the position of ROV ISRO's for the movement and anti-collision with structures in the underwater. In this paper, we deal with the development of a small ROV and verification of the position control system via simulation and experiment using sonar sensors.
When a car accident happened on a highway, the accident vehicle should broadcast a safe message to its neighbors in order to prevent a chain-reaction collision. Also, there is a problem that the estimation accuracy is low because of the memory limit from increasing the sampling count. In this paper, we proposes a HVC systems using a back-off algorithm applied to a gaussian model. And we proposes a MAC protocol preventing the communication delay by separating the neighbor count collection channel, data channel, and RSU communication channel. As a result, we show the frame reception success rate of our protocol improved about 10% than the previous protocol.

This paper introduces reliable multicast MAC protocol for cooperative unmanned vehicles. cooperative unmanned vehicles communicate with infrastructure and other unmanned vehicles in order to increase driving safety. They exchange information related to driving and thus it requires real-time and reliable multicast. However, the international vehicular communication standard, IEEE 802.11p WAVE, does not provide a reliable multicast scheme on the MAC layer. To address the problems of reliability, we propose a reliable multicast protocol called WiVCL, which avoids contention and collision. Our evaluation shows that the WiVCL achieves a high degree of reliability and real-time features.
When doing maintenance works at the trackside of railway, the method which delivers information on approaching of train to maintenance workers through alarm devices such as the flag or indication light, etc., is being used by locating persons in charge of safety alarm in addition to the maintenance workers at fixed distances in the front and rear of the workplace. Workers maintaining at the trackside may collide with the train since they cannot recognize the approach of train although it approaches to the vicinity of maintenance workplace because of the sensory block phenomenon occurred due to their long hours of continued monotonous maintenance work. The clash or rear-end collision accidents between many maintenance trains called motor-cars can be occurred since there are cases where the signal systems for safe operation of motor-car such as track circuit etc. are blocked or not operated normally. We developed the new safety equipment for protection of trackside maintenance workers using radio frequency signals and bidirectional detection mechanism. The developed safety equipment must analyze the several operational mechanism for each different operation situations. In this paper the analysis results are represented.

Recently Digital-TachoGraph(DTG) was mounted mandatorily in commercial vehicles(Taxi, Bus, etc.). DTG records accurate and detailed information of the running state of vehicles related to traffic accident, such as Time, Distance, Velocity, RPM, Brake ON/OFF, GPS, Azimuth, Acceleration. Thus those standardized data can play an important role in traffic accident investigation and reconstruction. To develope the accurate and objective method using the DTG data for the reconstruction of traffic accident, we had conducted several tests such as driving test, high speed circuit test, braking test, slalom test at Korea Automobile Testing & Research Institute(KATRI), and collision test at Korea Automobile insurance repair Research and Training center(KART) with the vehicle equipped with several DTG. Development of the program which enables the reading and analysis of the DTG data was followed. In the experiments, we have found velocity error, RPM error, brake signal error and azimuth error in several products, and also non-continuous event data. The cause of these errors was deduced to be related to the correction factor, the durability of electronic parts and the algorithm.

Recently, as Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and self-driving system become influential in the ground transportation system, automotive radar systems have been actively studied among the various radar systems to implement the vehicle collision detection system and distance measurement system between vehicles. Most of the automotive radars are Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar type which can calculate distance and velocity of target by estimating the frequency difference between the transmitted signal and received signal. Therefore, accurate frequency estimation is very important in the FMCW radar system. For this reason, to improve the measurement accuracy of the FMCW radar, Reverse Directional FRI (RD-FRI) Super-Resolution technique which has high frequency estimation accuracy is applied to the FMCW radar system. The feasibility of the proposed technique is evaluated with simulation results and compared with FFT and conventional Super-Resolution techniques. The simulation results show that the proposed technique estimates the frequency with high accuracy and the distance with centimeter accuracy.
The reach truck, which is mainly used in warehouses, is required to have high-mast to improve its working efficiency and space utilization. The high-mast takes advantage of more vertical space but severe vibrations are easily generated at the end of the high-mast. These vibrations may cause a collision or misplacement of loading location at work. In this study, the vibration characteristics of a three-stage high-mast of a reach truck are analyzed, and an active vibration controller verified through a similar experiment is designed to reduce this vibration. A similar experiment for reach truck mast verifies the performance of the active vibration controller. By applying an active vibration controller designed for a real reach truck, the operations of the reach truck are made more efficient through the reduction of the vibration amplitude.
In recent times, Natural User Interface/Natural User Experience (NUI/NUX) technology has found widespread application across a diverse range of fields and is also utilized for controlling unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Even if the user controls the UAV by utilizing the NUI/NUX technology, it is difficult for the user to easily control the UAV. The user needs an autopilot to easily control the UAV. The user needs a flight path to use the autopilot. The user sets the flight path based on the waypoints. UAVs normally fly straight from one waypoint to another. However, if flight between two waypoints is in a straight line, UAVs may collide with obstacles. In order to solve collision problems, flight records can be utilized to adjust the generated path taking the locations of the obstacles into consideration. This paper proposes a natural path generation method between waypoints based on flight records collected through UAVs flown by users. Bayesian probability is utilized to select paths most similar to the flight records to connect two waypoints. These paths are generated by selection of the center path corresponding to the highest Bayesian probability. While the K-means algorithm-based straight-line method generated paths that led to UAV collisions, the proposed method generates paths that allow UAVs to avoid obstacles.
In recent years, with the development of automobile technology, smart system technology that assists safe driving has been developed. A camera is installed on the front and rear of the vehicle as well as on the left and right sides to detect and warn of collision risks and hazards. Beyond the technology of simple black-box recording via cameras, we are developing intelligent systems that combine various computer vision technologies. However, most related studies have been developed to optimize performance in laboratory-like environments that do not take environmental factors such as weather into account. In this paper, we propose a method to detect object by restoring visibility in image with degraded image due to weather factors such as fog. First, the image quality degradation such as fog is detected in a single image, and the image quality is improved by restoring using an intermediate value filter. Then, we used an adaptive feature extraction method that removes unnecessary elements such as noise from the improved image and uses it to recognize objects with only the necessary features. In the proposed method, it is shown that more feature points are extracted than the feature points of the region of interest in the improved image.
