The development of railway vehicles such as new mechanism of railway vehicle or design parameters of suspension have been used the application of scaled roller rig to the study of railway vehicle dynamics. In this paper, the critical speed was compared between full scale and 1:5 scale of numerical model. And to verify the simulation results, the critical speed was confirmed using the 1:5 scaled roller rig. According to the results, we expect that the developed roller rig will be used in the study for the dynamic characteristics of railway vehicle.
This study presents full vehicle dynamics model for the dynamic characteristic analysis of chassis parts which are suspension and brake system. This vehicle dynamics model is appled to kinematics and quasi-static analysis for each chassis part. In order to develop the vehicle dynamics model, the parameters of each chassis element part which are bush, spring and damper are measured by experiment. Also the wheel forces and moments of 6 DOF are measured at each wheel center. These data are applied to input parameter for vehicle dynamics model. And the verification of the developed model is achieved to comparison with the experimental force data of spring, trailing arm and assist arm by using the load response by strain gauge. These experimental force data are acquired by road test at event surfaces of P/G which are belgian and chuck holes roads.
Since the dynamics of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) are highly nonlinear and their hydrodynamic coefficients vary with different vehicle's operating conditions, high performance control systems of AUVs are needed to have the capacities of teaming and adapting to the variations of the vehicle's dynamics. In this paper, a linearly parameterized neural network (LPNN) is used to approximate the uncertainties of the vehicle dynamics, where the basis function vector of the network is constructed according to the vehicle's physical properties. The network's reconstruction errors and the disturbances in the vehicle dynamics are assumed be bounded although the bound may be unknown. To attenuate this unknown bounded uncertainty, a certain estimation scheme for this unknown bound is introduced combined with a sliding mode scheme. The proposed controller is proven to guarantee that all signals in the closed-loop system are uniformly ultimately bounded (UUB). Numerical simulation studies are performed to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.
This article deals with the transient analysis using multi-flexible body dynamics of a trailer vehicle, which is passing a bump on the flat road. In order to investigate the transient dynamic behavior of the trailer, we developed an equivalent finite element model for the trailer and a vehicle dynamic model for the truck using multi-body dynamics. The driving condition considered here is set as the trailer vehicle passes a bump on the flat road in 7km/h. And we investigate the time histories of vertical load and deflections on connecting points between the trailer and truck during the vehicle passes a bump. Due to the dynamic load resulted from the driving condition, additional stress concentrations are found in the trailer and the suspension connecting points between the trailer and rear axles along with kingpin.
Safety systems for road vehicles have been rapidly developed in recent years. Especially, the VDC(Vehicle dynamics Control) system is a new active safety system for road vehicles which controls its dynamic vehicle motion in emergency situations . In the case of configuring the VDC system by utilizing the ABS(Anti-lock Brake System), the role of a control logic which directly influences the vehicle motion is very important. In this study the performance of the VDC vehicle was compared to the performances of the CBS (Conventional Brake system )and ABS vehicle. For various driving conditions , the simulation of vehicle dynamics with known VDC control logics was performed. Analysis results showed the VDC vehicle could stably perform even on the road of low coefficient of friction. In addition it was shown that the basic control logic for the VDC system could outstandingly improve driving stability in the case of braking as well as constant speed cruising.
A graphic vehicle modeling pre-processing program and a visualization post-processing program have been developed for AutoDyn7, which is a special program for vehicle dynamics. The Rapid-App for GUI(Graphic User Interface) builder and the Open Inventor for 3D graphic library have been employed to develop these programs in Silicon Graphics workstation. A Graphic User Interface program integrates vehicle modeling pre-processor, AutoDyn7 analysis processor, and visualization post-processor. In vehicle modeling pre-processor, vehicle hard point data for a suspension model are automatically converted into multibody vehicle system data. An interactive graphics capabilities provides suspension modeling aides to verify user input data interactively. In visualization post-processor, vehicle virtual test simulation results are animated with virtual testing environments.
As intelligent autonomous driving vehicle development has become a big topic around the world, accurate reference dynamics estimation has been more important than before. Current systems generally use speed and heading information sensed from a distant point as a vehicle reference dynamic, however, the dynamics between different points are not same especially during rotating motions. In order to estimate properly estimate the reference dynamics from the information such as velocity and heading sensed at a point distant from the reference point such as center of gravity, this study proposes estimating reference dynamics from any location in the vehicle by combining the Bicycle and Ackermann models. A test system was constructed by implementing multiple GNSS/INS equipment on an Robot Operating System (ROS) and an actual car. Angle and speed errors of 10° and 0.2 m/s have been reduced to 0.2° and 0.06 m/s after applying the suggested method.
A real time multibody vehicle dynamics model has been developed and implemented using a subsystem synthesis method based on recursive formulation. To verify real time simulation capability the developed model has been applied to HMMWV(High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle) with steering system. For the kinematically driven steering system, the coupled front suspension-steering subsystem can be decoupled into two SLA suspension subsystems, which improves the efficiency of simulation. To investigate theoretical efficiency, operational counting method has been also employed to compare the proposed model with the conventional recursive dynamics model. Various simulations such as unsymmetric bump run, step steering(J-turn) and sine steering input test have been carried out to verify the real time feasibility of the proposed model.
A functional suspension model is proposed as a kinematic describing function of the suspension that represents the relative wheel displacement in polynomial form in terms of the vertical displacement of the wheel center and steering rack displacement. The relative velocity and acceleration of the wheel is represented in terms of first and second derivatives of the kinematic describing function. The system equations of motion for the full vehicle dynamic model are systematically derived by using velocity transformation method of multi-body dynamics. The comparison of field test results and simulation results of the ADAMS/Car demonstrates the validity of the proposed functional suspension modeling method. This model is suitable for real-time vehicle dynamics analysis.
Real-time multibody vehicle dynamics software has been developed for virtual handling tests. The software can be utilized for HILS(Hardware In the Loop Simulations) and consists of three modules such as a graphical vehicle modeling preprocessor, a real time dynamics solver, and a virtual reality graphic postprocessor for virtual handling tests. In the graphical vehicle modeling preprocessor, vehicle hard point data for a suspension model are automatically converted into multibody vehicle model. In the real time dynamics solver, the efficient subsystem synthesis method is used to create multibody equations of motion for a subsystem by a subsystem. In the virtual reality graphic postprocessor, an animator has been also developed by using Matlab Virtual Reality Toolbox for virtual handling tests.
