The necessity of diagnosis of the rotating machinery which is widely used in the industry is increasing. Many research has been conducted to manipulate field vibration signal data for diagnosing the fault of designated machinery. As the pattern recognition tool of that signal, neural network which use usually back-propagation algorithm was used in the diagnosis of rotating machinery. In this paper, self-organizing feature map(SOFM) which is unsupervised learning algorithm is used in the abnormal vibration diagnosis of rotating machinery and then learning vector quantization(LVQ) which is supervised teaming algorithm is used to improve the quality of the classifier decision regions.
Recently, many WMS(Web Map Services) and POI(Point of Interest) services come to be in service on the Internet using Web GIS(Geographic Information System) as Information Technology and computer H/W are evolved faster in its speed, network bandwidth and features. The Web GIS is, however, limited and constrained on the specification of its system configuration, the service class provided and the presentation methodology of a map. As the mobile Internet becomes popular in mobile service, Web GIS service on mobile environment is strongly required and to be provided by location based WMS(Web Map Service) on a mobile client such as PDA with location information of the user. In this paper, we made an effort to design and implement a GIS computing environment by thin client for mobile web map service. For implementing the thin client GIS computing environment. we were using NGII's(National Geographic Information Institute's) DXF map, representing the map by SVG(Scalable Vector Graphics) recommended by OGC(OpenGis Consortium), and adapting standard XML web service to provide the thin client GIS service on PDA by applying the location information of the user in realtime with GPS on mobile environment.
This paper describes a vector quantization for speech signal coding using neural networks. We processed speech signal using LPC method that extracts speech signal feature, and speech signal feature is quantized using competitive neural network kohonen self-organization feature map.

This paper provides a comparison of global path planning method in single string by using pulled and pushed SOFM (Self-Organizing Feature Map) which is a method among a number of neural network. The self-organizing feature map uses a randomized small valued initial-weight-vectors, selects the neuron whose weight vector best matches input as the winning neuron, and trains the weight vectors such that neurons within the activity bubble are move toward the input vector. On the other hand, the modified SOFM method in this research uses a predetermined initial weight vectors of the one dimensional string, gives the systematic input vector whose position best matches obstacles, and trains the weight vectors such that neurons within the activity bubble are move toward or reverse the input vector, by rising a pulled- or a pushed-SOFM. According to simulation results one can conclude that the modified neural networks in single string are useful tool for the global path planning problem of a mobile robot. In comparison of the number of iteration for converging to the solution the pushed-SOFM is more useful than the pulled-SOFM in global path planning for mobile robot.

Although the reuse of the cached data for scrolling the map reduces the amount of passed data between client and server, it needs the conversions of data coordinates, selertive deletion of objects and cache compaction at client. The conversion is time intensive operation due to limited resources of mobile phones such as low computing power, small memory. Therefore, for the efficient map control in the vector map service based mobile phone, it is necessary to study the method for reducing wireless network bandwidth and for overwhelming the limited resources of mobile phone as well. This paper proposes the methods for racking pre-received spatial objects in client-server systems for mobile CIS. We also analyze the strengths and drawbacks between the reuse of cached data and transmission of raw data respectively.

Vectorizing for input processing of map is the most time and cost consuming task, and the quality of vector data depends on that processing result. Therefore, it is an important task to develop a good vectorizing system in the GIS. Thinning algorithm is the most important technology for deciding the quality of vector data in the vectorizing system. In this paper, as a suitable algorithm for map vectorizing we considered several algorithms that preserve topological and geometric characteristics, and have no distortion of the contour line. As a results, we implemented WPTA4 and well known thinning algorithm, and compared WPTA4 execution results with the others.
Vector field has been commonly used to visualize the data set which is invisible or is hard to explain. For instance, it could be used to visualize scientific data such as the direction and amount of wind and water field, transfer of heat through thermally conductive materials, and electromagnetic field. In this paper, we present a technique to enable intuitive recognition of the data though haptic feedback along with visual feedback. To add tactile information to graphical vector field, we model a haptic vector field and then apply it to the haptic map to guide a user to destination and haptic simulation of water field on 2D images whish can be used ill everyday life. These systems allow one to recognize vector information intuitively through haptic interface. We expect that the haptic rendering technique of vector field can be applied to various applications such as education, training, and entertainment.

With the rapid expansion of application fields of vector data model such as CAD design drawing and GIS digital map, the security technique for vector data model has been issued. This paper presents the vector data hashing for the authentication and copy protection of vector data model. The proposed hashing groups polylines in main layers of a vector data model and generates the group coefficients by the line curve curvatures of the first and second type of all poly lines. Then we calculate the feature coefficients by projecting the group coefficients onto the random pattern and generate finally the binary hash from the binarization of the feature coefficients. From experimental results using a number of CAD drawings and GIS digital maps, we verified that the proposed hashing has the robustness against various attacks and the uniqueness and security by the random key.

For map services in the mobile environment, it should be considered that resource restriction or the mobile device. on, if a map database dedicated to mobile services may not be developed, the spatial data extracted from general map databases should be simplified before transmitting. % is paper suggests the filtering methods to manipulate the spatial data, which are changed to be able to displayed on the mobile devices. The suggested methods are evaluated by experiments. This method is based on the map generalization operator 'selection' and is refined to adapt on mobile phone environments.
Contamination flashover is responsible for insulator electrical failures. Particularly, in Korea, with its perennially dry spring, the first spring rain often cause serious line outages by forming a conductive liquid film on the insulator surface. Rainwater and fog are not normally conductive but unfortunately atmospheric dust deposited on the insulator surface contains soluble salts which may lead to bad condition of insulation by combining watery and salts. Transmission design engineers have used a contamination map drawn on the traditional paper map. But it is not convenient because it does not include the information of Geographic Information accurately. This paper explains the newly developed salt contamination map program using Geographic Information System, which provide accurate geographic information. The program is designed to use four parts of datum, salt contamination levels, 345kV & 154 kV transmission lines, power plants & substations and background map. The digital background map is composed of raster files, the others are done by vector map.
