Analysis of Church based parish nursing activities in Teagu city (목회간호사의 업무활동분석)

  • The concept of parish nursing began in the late 1960s in the United States when increasing numbers of churches employed registered nurses (RNs) to provide holistic, preventive health care to the members of their congregations. Parish nursing role was developed in 1983 by Lutheran chaplain Granger Westberg, and provides care to a variety of church congregation of various denominations. The parish nurse functions as health educator, counselor, group facilitator, client advocate, and liaison to community resources. Since these activities are complementary to the population-focused practice of community health' CNSs, parish nurses either have a strong public health background or work directly with both baccalaureate-prepared public health nurses and CNSs. In a Midwest community in U.S.A., the Healthy People 2000(1991) objectives are being addressed in health ministries through a coalition between public health nurses and parish nurses. Parish nursing is in the beginning state in Korea and up untill now, there has been no research was conducted on concrete role of korean parish nurses. The main purpose of this study was to identify, classify and analyze activities of parish nurses. The other important objective of this study was to establish an effective approach and direction for parish nursing and provide a database for korean parish nursing model through analysis and' classification of the content of the nursing record which included nursing activities. This study was a descriptive survey research. The parish nurses were working in churches where the demonstration project developed on parish nursing. The study was done on all nursing records which were working in churches where the demonstration project developed on parish nursing. The study was done on all nursing records which were documented by parish nurses in three churches from March, 1995 to February, 1996. Namsan, Taegu Jeei and Nedang presbyterian churches in Taegu and Keimyung nursing college incooperated together for the parish nursing demonstration project. The data analysis procedure was as follows: First, a record analysis tool was developed and second, the data was collected, coded and analyzed, the classification for nursing activities was developed through a literature review, from which the basic analysis tool was produced and cotent validity review was also done. The classification of the activities of parish nurses showed 7 activitity categories. 7 activity categories consisted of visitation nursing, health check-ups, health education, referring, attending staff meetings, attending inservices and seminar, volunteers coordinating. The percentage of activities were as follows: Visitation nursing(A: 51.6%, B: 55%, C: 42.6%) Health check-ups(A: 13.5%, B: 12.1%, C: 22.3%) Health education(A: 13.5%, B: 13.2%, C: 18.2%) Referring(A: 1.4%, B: 4.2%, C: 2.4%) Attending staff meeting(A: 18.8%, B: 13.0%, C: 12.2%) Attending inservices and seminar(A: 1.5%, B: 2.2%, C: 2.1%) Volunteers coordinating(A: 0.3%, B: 0.4%, C: 0.0%) To establish and develope parish nursing delivery network in Korea, parish nurses role, activities and boundaries of practice should be continuously monitored and refined every 2 years. Also, It is needed to develope effective nursing recording system based on the need assessment research data of various congregation members. role, activities and boundaries of practice and arrangement of the working structure, continuing education, cooperation with community resources and structuring and organizing parish nursing delivery network.   • SOO-BAL(Hair Style) is a method Which match hair style to face and clothes with using hair covering and protecting the head. Also SOO-BAL includes personal ornaments using to avoid one's hair be disheveled. In a standpoint of beauty and spirit, etiquette SOO-BAL is a very important thing as one being dressed up. Until now, since just a form of hair style have been studied, hair styling process is nothing to be known and studied. Time after time, our unique traditional SOO-BAL is forgotten with clothes and then this th-esis will be classified hair styling form follow-ing a form of hair style in royal palace of the C-hosun dynasty. According to the record of HAE DONG HISTORY, it shows the same of attire between Ko-rean and chinese style in ae of the chosun. The reason in that there were no any certain boundary border and the interaction of culture between two countries was happened spontaneously at ancient time like the GOCHO-SUN age. Until the period of the three states, the korean attire be changed had gone with chinese one s-imilarly. The chinese form gave to influence on the EONJIN MEURI·POON-GI-MYEONG MEURI·JJO-CJIN MEURI·MOOK-EUN GOONG-BAL MEURI·OL-LIN MEURI·SSANGSANG-TU ME-URI be drawn wall painting in the KOKUR-YU. And a gold chignon accesso-ry unearthed in a MOO-RYOUNG royal mausoleum is proof of the korean attrire be changed with chinese. In the shilla dynasty at three years after Cjin-Deuk(A.D. 649) reign. It was recorded that the dynasty let women wear the form of chinese attire. Also in the koryo dyn-asty, a rod-like hairpin (BIN-YEU) and DANG-GI employing EON-JIN MEURI was used. The SOO-BAL based on the Confucianism had lots of regulations which limited to use ornaments with classes of society in the CHOSUN dynasty. Until YOUNG CHO and CHUNG CHO period. EONJIN MEURI be decorated GACHAE was announced by dynasty as ind-ulging in luxury. Women of yangban used a rod-like hairpin and a chignon accessory made by jewerly. And 1-owly women weared a rod-like hairpin made of born and wood to perfom EONJIN MEURI with PUNCHAE. Most unmarried women decorated with DDA-AH-NEULIN MEURI, GUI-MIT MEURI, specially in palace with SAE-ANG MEURI. At palace, one put on a full dress with KEUN MEURI, and a simple dress with ER-YEO MEURI be decorated DDERL-JAM The CHOP-JI MEURI manifested social rank, class. Kids at CHO-SUN age had BA-DUK-PANMEURI and JONG-JONG MEURI. The ornament things are GACHE, DDERL JAM with EON-JIN M-EURI, and all kinds of rod-like hairpin and chignon accessory used in JJOK MEURI. IN DANGGE, JE-BI-BURI DANGGI used by ummarried women. DO-TOO-RAK DANGGI and AP DANGGI on a dress suit, and BE-SSI DANGGI used by 3∼4 years ungrown kids etc. were used. And at palace, kinds of CHUPJI used with JJOK MEURI showed social rank. In CHOSUN age, women want to keep shiny hair washed at TA-NO festival day, a treatment of bald hair used a forked remedy. In CHOSUN age, woman Soo-Bal hair style has DAE-SOO·DDEU-KOO-JI MEURI·CHO-P-GI MEURI·EON-JIN MEURI·SAE-ANG MEURI· and so on. We could find out Soo-Bal was developed very well by these variety hair styles. I attatched all of the hair style pictures step by step, and also explained detail my research foll owing these pictures.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to assess supplementary motor area (SMA) activation during motor, sensory, word generation, listening comprehension, and working memory tasks using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Materials and Methods : Sixteen healthy right-handed subjects (9M, 7F) were imaged on a Siemens 1.5T scanner. Whole brain functional maps were acquired using BOLD EPI sequences in the axial plane. Each paradigm consisted of five epochs of activation vs. the control condition. The activation tasks consisted of left finger complex movement, hot sensory stimulation of the left hand, word generation, listening comprehension, and working memory. The reference function was a boxcar waveform. Activation maps were thresholded at an uncorrected p=0.0001. The thresholded activation maps were placed into MNI space and the anatomic localization of activation within the SMA was compared across tasks. Results : SMA activation was observed in 16 volunteers for the motor task, 11 for the sensory task, 15 for the word generation task, 5 for the listening comprehension task, and 15 for the working memory task. The rostral aspects of the SMA showed activity during the word generation and working memory tasks, and the caudal aspects of the SMA showed activity during the motor and sensory tasks. Right (contralateral) SMA activation was observed during the motor and sensory tasks, and left SMA activation during the word generation and memory tasks. Conclusion : Our results suggest that SMA is involved in a variety of functional tasks including motor, sensory, word generation, and working memory. The results obtained also support the notion that functionally specific subregions exist within the region classically defined as the SMA.

  • Manures contain a variety of pathogenic microorganisms that pose a risk to human or animal. On-farm contaminations through contaminated manure were considered likely sources of the pathogen for several outbreak. Pathogenic microorganisms may survive in low numbers during the composting process and subsequently regrow to high levels under favorable conditions. The objective of this study was to investigate effect of temperature on survival of Salmonella enterica and Staphylococcus aureus in livestock manure compost. Commercial livestock manure compost (manure 60%, sawdust 40%) was inoculated with S. enterica and S. aureus. Compost was incubated at four different temperatures (10, 25, 35, and $55^{\circ}C$) for 20 weeks. Samples were taken every week during incubation depending on the given conditions. S. enterica persisted for up to 1 day in livestock manure compost at $55^{\circ}C$, over 140 days at $10^{\circ}C$, 140 days at $25^{\circ}C$, and 70 days at $35^{\circ}C$, respectively. S. aureus persisted for up to 1 day in livestock manure compost at $55^{\circ}C$ and 90 days at $10^{\circ}C$, 70 days at $25^{\circ}C$, and 40 days at $35^{\circ}C$, respectively. The results indicate that S. enterica and S. aureus persisted longer under low temperature condition. S. enterica survived longer than S. aureus at three different temperatures (10, 25, and $35^{\circ}C$). This study will provide useful and practical guidelines to applicators of soil in deciding appropriate handling and time frames for land application of livestock manure compost for sustainable agriculture. Results from these studies provide useful information in identifying manure handling practices to reduce the risk of S. enterica and S. aureus transmission to fresh produce.

  • This study analyzed the curriculum and clinical practicum of the department of clinical laboratory science in Korea. The 2017 educational curricula of all 3-year and 4-year universities were analyzed. Clinical practice was conducted by a questionnaire. As a result of curriculum analysis, the 3-year curriculum was able to grasp the curriculum that focused on the national examinations of medical technologists, and the 4-year curriculum was open to a variety of subjects reflecting the changes in the future, but only at a few universities. In addition, the autonomous enrollment application made it possible to take a national examination without enrolling in courses that students find difficult in major courses. In the case of clinical practice, it was difficult to standardize in various practical institutes, practice periods, and practice credits. Therefore, it will be necessary to standardize the composition of the credits according to the duration of clinical practice and the duration of education. Moreover, is necessary to revise the curriculum in consideration of medical technologist job analysis and clinical field, and it will be necessary to standardize the curriculum and clinical practice model through the Medical Technologist Evaluation Center.

Growth Characteristics and Productivities of Alfalfa (Medicago sativa) Varieties at the Alpine Areas (고랭지에서 알팔파의 품종별 수량성과 생육특성)

  • This study was conducted to select the promising varieties of alfalfa (va.) Venal, Ancho., P5444, DK120, DK125, Horizon, DK135, Luna and Kitawacaba at Daekwanryong branch(altitude 800m a.s.l.) and Namwon branch(altitude 450m a.5.1.) of National Livestock Research Institute Leaf width of alfalfa was broad in all varieties except fer Vernal, and DK125 was flowered the earliest of all varieties. Plant height of Luna was the longest, and winter hardness of P5444 was the greatest with 80.2% of all varieties. In Daekwanryong, dry matter(DM) yield of Luna was the highest and DM yield of vernal was the lowest among the varieties in Namwon. In both areas, dry matter yield ef P5444 was the highest of alfalfa varieties. In Daekwanryong, ADF and NDF concentrations of DK 120 were the lowest of all alfalfa varieties. In Namwon, ADF concentrations of Horizon was the lowest with 26%, and NDF concentrations of DK 125 and Horizon was the lowest with 40.8%. Crude protein concentrations of P5444, Luna and DK 120 were higher than that of different varieties in Daekwanryong and crude protein content of Horizon was the highest with 28.1% in Namwon. Average crude protein yield of both areas was the highest of P5444. The results of this study indicated that Luna, Horizon and P5444 would be the promising alfalfa varieties in Daekwanryong, Namwon and both areas, respectively.

Oceanic Environments and Primary Production in the Coastal Waters of Seogwipo (서귀포 연안해역의 기초생산에 영향을 미치는 해양환경)

  • A survey was carried out from July to December in 1979 and 1982 for the investigation of oceanographic conditions and phytoplankton in Seogwipo coastal area. Although a peculiar coastal sea water is formed by in flowing of fresh water, this is developed mainly in summer and disappeared or weakened in its strength after November. However, this coastal sea water covers only the surface while in mid and bottom layer open sea water is approached to the coast. Therefore, coastal and open sea water appears simultaneously in narrow sea area. Mean values of nutrient concentrates on surface layer during investigating period were $3.72{\sim}16.34{\mu}g-at/l$ in silicate, $1.98{\sim}5.53{\mu}g-at/l$ in nitrate and $0.34{\sim}0.90{\mu}g-at/l$ in phosphate. These showed slight differences among places but in general coastal side were lower than open sea side. Phosphates which is the lowest in concentrates among nutrients in Seogwipo coastal area shows almost similar value with Jinhae Bay but higher than open sea water around 10 mile south of Seogwipo. In general, seasonal changes of nutrients in investigating period shows a tendency of the lowest in October, increasing in November, and again slight decrease in December. As a phytoplankton fauna, 48 species, 1 variety and 2 breeds of Diatoms, 29 species, 3 varieties and 1 breed fo Dinoflagellates, and 1 species each of Chroococcus and Trichoceratium were found. Monthly predominant species are all neritic: Rhizosolenia sp. and Ceratium sp. in August, Chaetoceros sp., Ceratium sp. and Peridinium sp. in September, Astrionella sp. and Peridinium sp. in October, Astrionella sp., Navicula sp. and Chaetoceros sp. in November Among these, Rhizosolenia alata f. gracillima in August and Astrionella gracillima in November are remarkable predominant.

The Effect of Nutrition Education on the Improvement of Psychosocial Factors Related to Vegetable and Fruit Intake of Elementary School Children in Pre-Action Stages (채소와 과일섭취 증진을 위한 영양교육이 행동전단계 초등학생의 사회심리적 요인의 변화에 미치는 효과)

  • This study investigates the change of level of psychosocial factors of decisional balance, processes of change, and self-efficacy after nutrition education on vegetable and fruit intake of children in pre-action stages. Forty-seven 5th grade elementary school children in Yeongi-Gun, Chungnam-Do were categorized into pre-action stages from a total of 71 children by four-stage questions, and then finally into two stages of precontemplation and contemplation & preparation. After 6 weeks nutrition education, recognition of both of pros and cons of vegetable intake were improved in the two groups of precontemplation and contemplation & preparation. In fruits intake, however, recognition of pros was not changed after nutrition education in either stage, but recognition of cons was improved only in the precontemplation stage. However, no difference in any psychosocial variables was found between precontemplation stage and contemplation & preparation stage. After the nutrition education, the score of consciousness raising of vegetable intake belonging to cognitive process of change increased in the subjects of the precontemplation stage, wheres the scores of dramatic relief, self-reevaluation, environment reevaluation and social liberation increased in the group of contemplation & preparation. In fruit intake, however, no change was found except in the environment reevaluation in the precontemplation group. The behavioral process of change of vegetable and fruit intake did not show any change in either group after nutrition education. Self-efficacy scores of vegetable intake of keeping the foods at hand, eating the recommended number of servings and making time to eat increased in the precontemplation group, while in the contemplation & preparation group, self efficacy scores of shopping for a variety of vegetables, instead of keeping the foods at hands, as well as the scores of the rest two items of eating the recommended number of servings and making time to eat increased after nutrition education. However, in case of fruits intake, no difference was shown in the precontemplation stage except an item of keeping the foods at hand. The results indicated that the stage of change was progressed in the pre-action stage after nutrition education and the scores of many psychosocial factors increased in both pre-action stages. It is suggested that the recognition of cons as well as the cognitive process of change and self-efficacy could be best used as indicators of the assessment of nutrition education program for vegetable intake.

Utilization of Polyunsaturated Lipids in Red Muscled Fishes 1. Lipid Composition and Seasonal Variation in Fatty Acid Composition of Body Oil and Lipids from Different Sections of Sardine and Mackerel (적색육어류의 고도불포화지질의 이용에 관한 연구 1. 정어리${\cdot}$고등어의 부위별 지질함량 및 지방산 조성의 계절적 변화)

  • As the first part of the studies on utilization of polyunsaturated lipids in red muscled fishes like sardine (Sardinops melanosticta) and mackerel (Scomber japonicus), lipid distribution in body sections, whole body, meat, viscera, skin, and head, lipids, polar and nonpolar, and fatty acid composition of the oils obtained from these body sections, and seasonal variations in fatty acid composition, particularly in the content of polyenoic acids, EPA and DHA, were determined, The content of total lipids was ranged $22.2\%\;to\;27.2\%$ in case of sardine without broad difference between body sections, while in case of mackerel $36.7\%\;to\;38.8\%$ unevenly in skin and head. The lipids of both fish were composed of more than $80\%$ of non-polar lipid and there was not much differences in the fatty acid composition between the lipids, polar and non-polar. The major fatty acids of the lipids were $C_{14:0},\;C_{16:0},\;C_{18:0},\;C_{16:1},\;C_{18:1},\;C_{20:1},\;C_{20:4},\;C_{20:5},\;and\;C_{22:6}$, and these acids, $C_{18:1},\;C_{16:0},\;C_{22:6},\;C_{18:0},\;C_{20:5},\;C_{14:0},\;C_{16:1}$, were in high quantity in order. Seasonal variation in fatty acid composition of sardine oil did not show any great variety between sections. There was a tendency in general that saturated and monoenoic acids began to decrease in winter and showed the minimum in April; hereafter get to increase again, while polyenoic acids showed the maximum in April. Both $C_{20:5}\;and\;C_{22:6}$ acids were high in the season of April to July. Variation in fatty acid content was in a width of $8\%$ for saturated, $5\%$ for monoenoic, and $12\%$ for polyenoic acid. $C_{20:5}\;and\;C_{22:6}$ acid were varied in $9.4\%\;and\;9.8\%$, respectively. In case of mackerel oil, seasonal variation tended same as in sardine oil except the fact that the saturated and monoenoic acid decreased to the minimum in the term of April to July in which the polyenoic acid content was also higher marking $27.3\%\;to\;36.1\%$ in average. Fatty acid variation was in a range of $6.3\%$ for saturated, $8.3\%$ for monoenoic, and $13.8\%$ for polyenoic acid but variation of $C_{20:5}\;and\;C_{22:6}$ acid was 4, $3\%$ and 3, $4\%$ respectively. When fresh sardine was stored for 10 days at $5^{\circ}C$, oxidation was rapidly initialed and consequently resulted in fast loss of $C_{20:5}\;and\;C_{22:6}$ acids. It is concluded from the results that the catch of sardine and mackerel in the season of April to June would be adequate for the preparation of polyunsaturated lipid condenced oil in regard to sectional lipid distribution and its variation in seasons.

Changes in the Physiological Activities of Four Sweet Potato Varieties by Cooking Condition (고구마 네 가지 품종의 조리방법에 따른 생리활성 변화)

  • The present study was performed to investigate antioxidant, anticancer, and antimicrobial activities of four Korean sweet potato variaties and to identify the changes in these biological activities under different cooking conditions. Total polyphenol content was 3.8-73.6 mg/g in 80% ethanol extracts of sweet potatoes. The polyphenol content was highest Sinjami variety (p < 0.05). Radical scavenging activity against DPPH and $ABTS^{{\cdot}+}$ was high in Sinjami (p < 0.05) and the ethanol extract from Sinjami also showed effective superoxide dismutase (SOD)-like activity, which decreased significantly by steaming and roasting (p < 0.05). Ethanol extracts from the four sweet potato variaties did not inhibit cancer cell growth in MCF-7 or HepG2 cells at concentrations of 1, 10, and $100\;{\mu}g$/mL. Of the investigated sweet potato variaties, only Sinjami exhibited strong antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Salmonella typhimurium. The antimicrobial activity of Sinjami against E. coli, St. aureus, and S. typhimurium decreased following steaming and roasting (p < 0.05). These results indicate that the Sinjami Korean sweet potato had higher polyphenol content, radical scavenging activity, SOD-like activity, and antimicrobial activity than those of the other variaties and consuming raw Sinjami might be beneficial for maintenance of biological activities.
