Purpose: The purpose of this study was to validate Quality of Life Index-Cancer (Q.L.I.-C) developed by Ferrans (1990) among Korean cancer patients. Method: This study design was exploratory factor analysis methodology. Q.L.I.-C was translated into Korean and reverse-translated into English. The subjects were 357 Korean patients with various cancers. Data were collected by questionnaires from May to August, 2000 and was analyzed by descriptive statistics, Principal Component Analysis for construct validity and Cronbach's alpha coefficient for reliability. Result: The range of factor loadings was .446~.841. The explained variance from the 5 extracted factors was 63.7% of the total variance. The first factor 'family' was 35.5%, and 'health & physical functioning', 'psychological', 'spiritual', and 'economic' factors were 11.5%, 6.9%, 5.6%, and 4.2% respectively. Because of cultural difference between Americans and Koreans, certain items such as sexuality, job status, and education were deleted from the extraction of factors in this study. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient was .9253 among the 28 items. Conclusion: Q.L.I.-C could be applied in measuring quality of life of Korean cancer patients. It also recommend to do further studiesfor validation of Q.L.I.-C American and Korean versions relating to cultural differences.
This study identifies the foot shapes of elderly men by classifying foot types according to the shapes of sole of foot and analyzing individual characteristics. The subjects were 269 elderly men over 60 years of age. Their right feet were measured indirectly with a 2D scanner. The anthropometric measuring items consisted of 38 items that were estimated on the right foot of each subject. The 2D scan data were analyzed by various statistical methods such as factor analysis, ANOVA and cluster analysis using the statistical program SPSS 19.0. A total of 8 factors were extracted through a factor analysis and these factors represent 77.83% of total variance. The 8 factors were: ball and lateral foot protrusion, ball gradient, medial foot protrusion, anterior and posterior foot length ratio, lateral ball length, heel size, toes breadth, and foot length, that explained 77.83% of the total variance. A total of 4 clusters (as their sole type) were categorized using 8 factor scores by cluster analysis. Type 1 was classified as H-type(toes width, foot width, heel width uniform and medial malleolus and lateral malleolus almost no protrusion). Type 2 was classified as V-type(foot width and toes width, wide and heel width narrow). Type 3 was classified as A-type(foot width and heel width, wide but toes width narrow, protruded inside). Type 4 was classified as D-type(protruded outside).
Mobile easy payment is a term for using mobile devices to facilitate financial transactions. Mobile easy payment is a quickly emerging practice, supported by the dramatic increase of mobile phone or device users around the world. The purpose of this study is to classify user's group of the mobile easy payment service by their lifestyle based on I-VALS type and to investigate differences in usage behavior among the user groups. For empirical study, a questionnaire survey was carried out with users of mobile easy payment services using the Internet from June 7 to 10 in 2016. We conducted factor analysis for I-VALS, usage factors, satisfaction factors. We also performed cluster analysis for group classification, and analysis of variance, cross analysis to compare the different usage behavior among the user groups. In analysis results, first three cluster appeared including "ICT task-oriented group", ICT positive and socialities oriented group", "ICT leader-oriented group". Second, it was found significant differences among the clusters about factor of "easy of use", "securities", "universality", "satisfaction". Third, we showed that there were significant differences in time first used the service. Based on these findings, we provide practical implications. Results of our study can be expected to provide the basis of differentiated marketing strategy of mobile easy payment services.

In many cases, the measurement error variances may be functions of the unknown true values or related covariates. This paper considers design-based estimators of the parameters of these variance functions based on the within-unit sample variances. This paper devotes to: (1) define an error scale factor $\delta$; (2) develop estimators of the parameters of the linear measurement error variance function of the true values under large-sample and small-error conditions; (3) use propensity methods to adjust survey weights to account for possible selection effects at the replicate level. The proposed methods are applied to medical examination data from the U.S. Third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES III).
In this paper, we compare the classification performance of both data fusion and clustering algorithms (Data Bagging, Variable Selection Bagging, Parameter Combining, Clustering) to logistic regression in consideration of various characteristics of input data. Four factors used to simulate the logistic model are (1) correlation among input variables (2) variance of observation (3) training data size and (4) input-output function. Since the relationship between input & output is not typically known, we use Taguchi design to improve the practicality of our study results by letting it as a noise factor. Experimental study results indicate the following: Clustering based logistic regression turns out to provide the highest classification accuracy when input variables are weakly correlated and the variance of data is high. When there is high correlation among input variables, variable bagging performs better than logistic regression. When there is strong correlation among input variables and high variance between observations, bagging appears to be marginally better than logistic regression but was not significant.
The purpose of this study was to examine affecting the addictive buying behavior toward fashion luxury products. 227 female college students were who purchased fashion luxury products surveyed for this study. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and multiple regression were used. As the results, addictive buying toward luxury products was classified into three factors: impulse addictive, money addictive, and psychological addictive. Also, consumers' individuality pursuit was classified into four factors: unique choice, non-similarity choice, individual choice and non-social interest. Multiple regression results revealed that impulse buying, stress, and unique choice accounted for 38% of the explained variance in addictive buying toward luxury products. Also, regression results indicated that impulse buying, stress, unique choice and reference group accounted for 38% of the explained variance in impulse addictive buying. Finally, regression results pointed out that unique choice and impulse accounted 24% of the explained variance in psychological addictive buying. Based on these results, fashion social responsibility marketing strategies would be suggested.
It is important to select an accurate set of ground motions when conducting linear and nonlinear response history analyses of structures. This study proposes a method for selecting ground motions from a ground motion library with response spectra that match the target response spectrum mean, variance and correlation structures. This study also has addressed the determination of an appropriate value for the weight factor of a correlation structure. The proposed method is conceptually simple and straightforward, and does not involve a simulation algorithm. In this method, a desired number of ground motions are sequentially selected from first to last. The proposed method can be also used for selecting ground motions with response spectra that match the conditional spectrum. The accuracy and efficiency of the proposed procedure are verified with numerical examples.
Instead of using signal-to-noise ratio, we attempt to optimize both the mean and variance responses using dual response optimization technique. The alternative experimental strategy analyzes a robust parameter design problem to obtain the best settings that give a target condition on the mean while minimizing its variance. The mean and variance are treated as the two responses of interest to be optimized. Unlike to the crossed array and combined array approaches, our experimental setup requires replicated runs for each control factor's treatment under noise sampling. When the postulated response models are true, they enable the coefficients to be estimated and the desired performance measure to be analyzed more efficiently. The procedure and illustrative example are given for the dual response optimization techniques of nonlinear goal programming.
