  • This paper is proposed an efficiency optimization control algorithm for a synchronous reluctance motor(SynRM) which minimizes the copper and iron losses. Also, this paper presents a speed estimated control scheme of SynRM using artificial neural network(ANN). There exists a variety of combinations of d and q-axis current which provide a specific motor torque. The objective of the efficiency optimization controller is to seek a combination of d and q-axis current components, which provides minimum losses at a certain operating point in steady state. It is shown that the current components which directly govern the torque production have been very well regulated by the efficiency optimization control scheme. The proposed algorithm allows the electromagnetic losses in variable speed and torque drives to be reduced while keeping good torque control dynamics. The control performance of ANN is evaluated by analysis for various operating conditions. Analysis results are presented to show the validity of the proposed algorithm.

  • This paper presents a design method of the continuous inertial binary observer which includes the rotor flux and speed estimations. The sliding observer based on the variable structure theory ensures the robustness of disturbance and is applied for the method to keep an insensitivity for the variations of parameter. Sliding observer, however, has a high-frequency chattering deteriorating the state estimation performance. To reduce the chattering on the sliding surface in sliding observer and improve the estimation performance, binary observer scheme which has main advantages such as the absence of high-frequency chattering and the finite gains is applied in this paper. Computer simulation results show the effectiveness of binary observer proposed here for the induction motor drives.

  • In this paper, the current waveform and dynamic characteristics of the proposed system which is composed of a full bridge inverter and low pass LC filter is investigated through the results of computer simulation and experiment to find out the good performance of variable speed AC motor. By the experiment results, it is confirmed that the load current of pseudo sine waves is to be got by the proposed low pass LC filter and the speed of single phase AC motor driven by a full bridge inverter can be smoothly controlled by use of digital PID controller.

  • The model reference adaptive control(MRAC) algorithm is applied to the speed control of an inverter driven permanent magnet brushless do motor MRAC is compared to a standard PI controller. Applying this algorithm has also been proved by simulations that quick speed response without over-shoot could be obtained for the motor system with variable parameters. Simulation results show that the adaptive controller is superior to the PI controller.

  • 3-Phase BLDC Motor, which is generally used, has limited usage in high speed, due to pulsation torque occurring commutation and variable speed. To solve this problem, it is necessary to increase invariable, pole number, or the number of slots. Currently, due to rapid growth of semiconductor technology and trend toward smaller and cheaper production of switching device, multi-phase BLDC Motor for high speed, high output power is being actively pursued to produce. In this paper 7-Phase BLDC Motor drive system is designed and Vector modulator is studied.

  • This paper presents a methodology of the technique for controlling DC motor drive by implementation of 2-quadrant operating mode which can ensure the torque controlling and speed with response time less than 2 seconds at all loading conditions. By implementation of BRM technique, energy is fed with definite values of BRM 256 bits, with different patterns of high accuracy, and fixing scan time at 0.667 ms, the ripple is less than 1%, thus high efficiency can be achieved, from the consequence of the accuracy of energy feeding at low current. The stability of the whole system can be determined from circle criterion by root locus method . The instant reverse direction of rotation can be done by decreasing the energy to the lowest level while motor is running with no load and variable load at the speed about 100-120 rpm and 50-60 rpm.

  • This paper presents speed control of an electric motorcycle using a fuzzy controller. The electric motorcycle required to meet not only fast throttle response but also stability, when it is on a cruise. However, a 1.5KW (50cc) electric motorcycles selling in the current market are difficult to cruise under the following conditions which are occupant's weight, load weight, wind resistance and road conditions (dirt roads, asphalt road). Because of these reasons, the rapid speed changing occurs in uphill and downhill road. To solve these problems, The input value for Improved fuzzy controller use the speed error and error variance. The output value for improved fuzzy controller uses Q-axis of the motor controlled variable. The D-axis of the motor output for improved fuzzy control uses D-axis controlled variable in proportional to Q-axis controlled variable. Improved fuzzy controller drives the electric motorcycle equipped with IPMSM. The control subject used in this paper is a 1.5KW electric motorcycle equipped with improved fuzzy controller that was used to control the motor speed. To control IPMSM Type of motor torque, D, Q-axis current controller was used. The Fuzzy controller using the proposed algorithm is demonstrated by experimental hardware simulator.

  • In this paper, we implemented the variable fuzzy speed controller of an IM(induction motor) using the fuzzy control algorithms. Specially, we proposed a self-tuning technique of scale factors which could make easily the fuzzy speed controller optimize. Comparing with the conventional PI speed controller, the dynamic performances of a proposed fuzzy controller such as the reaching time, the maximum overshoot and the robustness against load disturbance were substantially improved.

  • This paper presents an improved direct torque control based on artificial neural networks technique. The major problem that is usually associated with DTC drive is the high torque(speed) ripple. To overcome this problem a torque hysteresis band with variable amplitude is proposed based on artificial neural networks. The artificial neural networks proposed controller is shown to be able to reducing the torque(speed) ripple and dependency on motor parameter and to improve performance DTC especially at high speed and reversal running.
