  • Pratical dispersion-correction scheme is applicated to simulate the distant propagation of tsunami. This scheme is based on the leap-frog finite difference scheme for the linear shallow-water equations. The new scheme has the advantage of using the constant spatial grid size and time step size even in area of variable depths. And this new model constructed by using the 2nd upwind scheme, dynamic linking method, and staggered grid system. This model is simulated to near Sokcho harbor about The Central East Sea Tsunami in 1983. And this result is compared to tide gage and result of former model.

  • H.264/AVC is the newest video coding standard of ITU-T VCEG and the ISO/IEC MPEG, offering a significant performance improvement over previous video coding standards. However, the computational complexity of H.264/AVC is drastically increased because of new technologies such as intra prediction, variable block size, quarter-pels motion estimation/compensation, etc. In this paper, we propose a fast intra prediction scheme which has two step processing. The first step is a fast block size decision which can be calculated only in one block without considering all cases of $4{\times}4$ block and $16{\times}16$ block. The complexity of the intra prediction can be reduced by using boundary difference values of macroblock. After selecting the block size, we can make mode decision using the neighbouring reference pixels and representative pixels of the block in the second step. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm saved on the average 41.5% encoding time without any significant PSNR losses.

  • Cryptanalysis is very important step for auditing and checking strength of any cryptosystem. Some of these cryptosystem ensures confidentiality and security of large information exchange from source to destination using symmetric key cryptography. The cryptanalyst investigates the strengths and identifies weakness key as well as enciphering algorithm. With increase in key size the time and effort required to guess the correct key increases so trend is increase key size from 8, 16, 24, 32, 56, 64, 128 and 256 bits to strengthen the cryptosystem and thus algorithm continues without compromise on the cost of time and computation. Automatic Variable Key (AVK) approach is an alternative to the approach of fixing up key size and adding security level with key variability adds new dimension in the development of secure cryptosystem. Likewise, whenever any new cryptographic method is invented to replace per-existing vulnerable cryptographic method, its deep analysis from all perspectives (Hacker / Cryptanalyst as well as User) is desirable and proper study and evaluation of its performance is must. This work investigates AVK based cryptic techniques, in future to exploit benefits of advances in computational methods like ANN, GA, SI etc. These techniques for cryptanalysis are changing drastically to reduce cryptographic complexity. In this paper a detailed survey and direction of development work has been conducted. The work compares these new methods with state of art approaches and presents future scope and direction from the cryptic mining perspectives.

  • Electromagnetic forming (EMF) simulations consider 3-dimensionally coupled electromagnetic-mechanical phenomenon using LS-DYNA, therefore the calculation cost is normally expensive. In this study, a sensitivity analysis in regard to the simulation variables affecting the calculation time was carried out. The EMF experiments were conducted to form an elliptically protruding shape on a high-strength steel sheet, and it was predicted using LS-DYNA simulation. In this particular EMF simulation case, the effect of several simulation variables, viz., element size, contact condition, EM-time step interval, and re-calculation number of the EM matrices, on the shape of elliptical protrusion and the total calculation time was analyzed. As a result, reasonable values of the simulation variables between the simulation precision and calculation time were proposed, and the EMF experiments with respect to the charging voltages were successfully predicted.

  • In this paper, channel equalization techniques for full-digital HDTV systems are investigated Conventional equalization methods are surveyed and several channel are modeled for computer simulation. A VS-LMS (Variable Step size Least Mean Square) algorithm using the time constant concept is proposed and its performance is compared. Several equalization techniques for HDTV systems are simulated based on various channel models, and their characteristics are analyzed. Also the equalizer using fixed-point operations is simulated and its filter structure suitable for high bit rate transmission is also studied.

  • In this paper accelerated life testing is incorporated in quality control technique of acceptance sampling plan to induce early failures in high reliability products.Stress under accelerated condition can be applied in constant-stress, step-stress and progressive-stress or combination of such loadings. A ramp-stress results when stress is increased linearly (from zero) with time. In this paper optimum failure-censored ramp-stress accelerated life test sampling plan for log-logistic distribution has been formulated with cost considerations. The log-logistic distribution has been found appropriate for insulating materials. The optimal plans consist in finding optimum sample size, sample proportion allocated to each stress, and stress rate factor such that producer's and consumer's interests are safeguarded. Variance optimality criterion is used when expected cost per lot is not taken into consideration, and bilevel programming approach is used in cost optimization problems. The methods developed have been illustrated using some numerical examples, and sensitivity analyses carried out in the context of ramp-stress ALTSP based on variable SSP for proportion nonconforming.

  • Present study examines the numerical issues of cell structure simulation for various regimes of detonation phenomena ranging from weakly unstable to highly unstable detonations. Inviscid fluid dynamics equations with $variable-{\gamma}$ formulation and one-step Arrhenius reaction model are solved by a MUSCL-type TVD scheme and 4th order accurate Runge-Kutta time integration scheme. A series of numerical studies are carried out for the different regimes of the detonation phenomena to investigate the computational requirements for the simulation of the detonation wave cell structure by varying the reaction constants and grid resolutions. The computational results are investigated by comparing the solution of steady ZND structure to draw out the minimum grid resolutions and the size of the computational domain for the capturing cell structures of the different regimes of the detonation phenomena.

  • As the mobile communication service is widely used, the demand for wireless repeaters is rapidly increasing because of the easiness of extending service areas. But wireless repeaters has a problem that the output of the transmit antenna is partially fed back to the receive antenna, which results in feedback interference. In this paper, we investigate the performance of adaptive variable step-size NLMS-based algorithms for cancelling the interference signals in the W-CDMA system under time-varying multipath channels. The criteria for comparison are tracking capability, convergence speed, and complexity.

  • The LMS(Least Mean Square) algorithm is generally used because of tenacity, high mating spots and simplicity of realization. But the LMS algorithm has trade-off between nonuniform collect and EMSE(Excess Mean Square Error). To overcome this weakness, variable step size is used widely but it needs a lot of calculation load. In this paper we consider new algorithm, which can reduce calculations and adapt in case of environment changes, uses original signal and noise signal of IGC(Instantaneous Gain Control). For the real time processing of IGC algorithm, we remove the logarithmic function. The performance of proposed algorithm is tested to adaptive noise canceller in automobile. We show implemented LabVIEW FPGA system of IGC algorithm is more efficient than others.

  • This paper compare the VSCA (Variable stepsize Square Contour Algorithm) and VSDA (Variable stepsize Square contour Decision directed Algorithm) adaptive equalization algorithm that is used for the minimization of the intersymbol interference which occurs in the time dispersive channel for the transmission of 16-QAM signal.. In the SCA, it is possible to compensates the amplitude and phase in the received signal that are mixed with the intersymbol interference by the constellatin dependent constant by using the 2nd order statistics of the transmitted signal. But in the VSCA and VSDA, it is possible to the improving the equalization performance by varing the stepsize using the concept of distance adjusted approach for constellation matching. We compare the performance of the VSCA and VSDA algorithm by the computer simulation. For this, the equalizer output signal constellation, residual isi, maximum distortion and MSE were used in the performace index. As a result of computer simulation, the VSCA algorithm has better than the VSDA in every performance index.
