  • This paper presents a new Kurtosis driven Variable Step-Size Normalized Least Mean Square (KVSSN-LMS) algorithm to prevent repeater from oscillation due to feedback signal of radio frequency (RF) repeater. To get better Mean Square Error (MSE) performance, step-size is adjusted using the kurtosis. The proposed algorithm shows the better performance of steady state MSE. The proposed algorithm shows a better ERLE performance than that of KVSS-LMS, VSS-NLMS, NLMS algorithms.

  • Among the adaptive noise cancellers (ANC), the least mean square (LMS) algorithm has probably become the most popular algorithm because of its robustness, good tracking properties, and simplicity of implementation. However, it has non-uniform convergence and a trade-off between the rate of convergence and excess mean square error (EMSE). To overcome these shortcomings, a number of variable step size least mean square (VSSLMS) algorithms have been researched for years. These LMS algorithms use a complex variable step method approach for rapid convergence but need high computational complexity. A variable step approach can impair the simplicity and robustness of the LMS algorithm. The proposed instantaneous gain control (IGC) algorithm uses the instantaneous gain value of the original signal and the noise signal. As a result, the IGC algorithm can reduce computational complexity and maintain better performance.

  • This paper presents an adaptive equalizer using finite impulse response (FIR) filter and least-mean square (LMS) algorithm. Herein, the variable step-size technique (VSLMS) for compensating the amplitude of chrominance signal is utilized. The proposed equalizer can be enhanced and compressed the chrominance signal at color subcarrier. The LMS algorithm employed in simplicity structure but gives slow convergence speed. Thus, the variable step-size is very attractive algorithm due to its computational efficiencies and the speed of convergence is improved. In addition, experimental results are carried out by using the modulated 20T sine squared test signal. It is shown here that the adaptive equalizer can be equalized the amplitude chrominance distortion in color television transmission without relative delay distortion.

  • This paper investigates noise reduction performance and performs convergence analysis of a Variable Error Data Normalized Step-Size Least Mean Square(VEDNSS LMS) algorithm. Adopting VEDNSS LMS results in higher system complexity, but noise is reduced providing fast convergence speed Mathematical analysis demonstrates that tap coefficient misadjustment converges. This is confirmed by computer simulation with the proposed algorithm.

  • LMS(Least Mean Square) algorithm requires simple equation and is used widely because of the low complexity. If the convergence speed increase, LMS algorithm has a divergence in case of sharp environment changes. And if a stability increase, the convergence speed becomes slow. This algorithm based on a trade off between fast convergence and system stability. To improve this problem, VSSLMS (Variable Step Size LMS) algorithm was developed. The VSSLMS algorithm improved the convergence speed and performance as adjusting step size using error signal. In this paper, I-VSSLMS algorithm is proposed tor improve the performance of adaptive noise canceller in real-time environments. The proposed algorithm is applied to adaptive noise canceller using TMS320C6713 DSP board and we did simulation by real time. Then we compared performance of each algorithm and demonstrated that proposed algorithm has superior performance.

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive beamforming algorithm for array antenna. The proposed beamforming algorithm, based on Block LMS (Block - Least Mean Squares) algorithm, has a variable step size from coefficient update. This method shows some advantages that the convergence speed is fast and the calculation time can reduced using a block LMS algorithm from frequency domain. As the adaptive parameter approaches a stationary state, it could reduce the number of filter coefficient update with the help of various step size. In this paper we compared the efficiency of the proposed algorithm with a standard LMS algorithm which is a representative method of adaptive beamforming.

  • In this paper, we proposed a new hybrid interference canceller using the adaptive filter with Grouped CMA(Constant Modulus Algorithm)-LMS(Least Mean Square) algorithm in the RF(Radio Frequency) repeater. The feedback signal generated from transmitter antenna to receiver antenna reduces the performance of the receiver system. The proposed interference canceller has better channel adaptive performance and a lower MSE(Mean Square Error) than conventional structure because it uses the cancellation method of Grouped CMA algorithm. This structure reduces the number of iterations fur the same MSE performance and hardware complexity compared to conventional nonlinear interference canceller. Namely, MSE values of the proposed algorithm were lower than those of LMS algorithm by 2.5 dB and 4 dB according to step sizes. And the proposed algorithm showed fast speed of convergence and similar MSE performance compared to VSS(Variable Step Size)-LMS algorithm.

  • A numerically efficient modification of a variable step size LMS (Least Mean Squares) algorithm is proposed. This proposed algorithm is very simple in calculation and has a variable step size adjusted by the filter output error. Its additional computational burden with respect to the conventional LMS algorithm is only two multiplications, two substraction, an addition and some bit operations. In a simulation example, it is shown that the proposed algorithm has not only the faster convergence rate but also less misadjustments in the environment of highly nonstationary and correlated data.

  • Least mean square(LMS) algorithm is one of the most popular algorithm in adaptive signal processing because of the simplicity and the small computation. But the convergence speed of time domain adaptive algorithm is slow when the spread width of eigen values is wide. Moreover we have to choose the step size well for convergency in this paper, we use adaptive algorithm of wavelet transform. And we propose a new wavelet based adaptive algorithm of wavelet transform. And we propose a new wavelet based adaptive algorithm with variable step size, which Is linear to absolute value of error signal. We applied this algorithm to adaptive noise canceler. Simulation results are presented to compare the performance of the proposed algorithm with the usual algorithms.
