Global Value Chain Formation and Human Capital: Case of Korea and ASEAN

  • Purpose - This study discusses the effects of human capital in the formation of GVC linkages. We also investigate GVC intensity between Korea and ASEAN. Design/methodology - To solve the doubling-counting problem in evaluating comparative advantage, RCA has been re-computed using domestic value-added (henceforth RCA_VA) at the country-sector level instead of value of trade. The impact of human capital on GVC intensity was empirically analyzed by establishing a panel data set with four industries (ISIC Rev. 4) in eight ASEAN countries from 2005 to 2015 from OECD-TiVA and WDI. Findings - The empirical results show that human capital has a negative effect on GVC intensity in the agriculture and manufacture industries, while it has a positive effect in the service and information industries. The results do not mean that low human capital is a barrier and inefficient to GVC linkages. Low Value-added activities may be more profitable to some emerging countries. These findings suggest that it is important to accurately identify the competitive elements to increase gains from trade under the GVC. Also, it shows that comparative advantages can be misled by an RCA index evaluated in trade volume under the GVC. Originality/value - This study highlights the importance of human capital as a factor for the efficient formation of Global Value Chain (GVC). This study has different from the literature in analyzing the role of human capital in formation of linkage of the GVC. And we clarify the changing patterns of trade by removing the double-counting problem under the GVC.

Reestablishment of new human sense of value is considered by tradition and custom, and now then today's social standard due to focus. Productive human sense of value do to recreate for all round human relations and fertility human life demand it. Korea National Statistical Office(http://www.nso.go.kr-Dec 20. 2005) was officially announced it. that Korean Life Table(2003) presented the reminder of human life and roughly equation model of 'the reminder of human life' is 'Korean average longevity of human life-Present Korean age=About the reminder of human life' on the basic 2003 year. 가격, 인적서비스, 분위기, 메뉴품질이 고객의 재방문의도에 미치는 메뉴가치연구 (The Effects of Menu Price, Human Service, Amenity, Menu Quality on Menu Value and Revisit Intention)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate how comparative menu price, human service, amenity, and menu quality affected menu value, and how menu value influenced revisit intention. The model was tested in a family restaurant setting using a sample of customers visiting and enjoying menu in Daegu metropolitan city. Empirical results confirmed that not only do human service, amenity and menu quality increase menu value but that comparative menu price reduces menu value. Menu value was also found to be a significant antecedent of revisit intention. The results obtained have major implications for family restaurant marketers as well as for future research. First, family restaurant marketers should pay attention to menu pricing, as menu price decreased menu value. Second, family restaurant marketers should try to increase menu value through training of human service. Third, family restaurant marketers should try to add menu value by way of recruiting high-skilled cook. Fourth, family restaurant marketers should make efforts to attract customers through interior design.

환경교육에서 과학적 지식과 윤리적 가치의 관계 (Thre Relationaship of Scientific Knowledge and Ethical Value in Environmental Education)

  • The objective of this study was to review the meaning and problems of Scientific Knowledge and Ethical Value in Environmental Education. The ultimate goal of environmental education is shaping proenvironmental human behavior. The factors of human behavioral decision making are ideology, value, attitude and behavioral intentions. Ideology is a kind of belief system used by social groups to interpret their social world. The main elements of belief system are knowledge and value. The traditional thinking in education has been that we can change behavior by making human beings more knowledgeable and more valuable. In environmental education, the aim of scientific inquiry is to analysis cause-effect relation of human beings behavior and environmental phenomenon, and ethical education is to change the mind of human beings from zero-sum to positive-sum about the relations between human beings and natural environments. But, there are many problems of knowledge education and value education in environmental education. For example scientific knowledge without ethical value is dangerous to environment protection, and ethical value without scientific knowledge is vague. Therefore, we must recognize that the relationship of ethical value and scientific knowledge is not substitutional but complementary. The teaching-learning methods which can integrate knowledge and value in environmental education are rational decision making model. For this model, we can construct teaching contents with inquiry materials. To earn the benefits of specialization among several subjects in environmental education, social studies can focus on social science knowledge and decision making, science education can focus on pure natural science knowledge and scientific investigation, moral education can focus on problems of ethical value system, home economics can focus on practical action and environmental education(Environments in middle school, Ecology and Environments in high school) can integrate social-national science knowledge and ethical value in broad perspective about human beings and ecosystem. That is the method to protect from law of diminishing marginal utility of learning in environmental education.

의료기관의 인건비투자효율과 의료이익률 간의 관계 (The Relationship of Value Added to Personnel Expenses and Operating Margin in Hospitals)

  • The study intends to conduct an analysis of relations between efficiency of investment to human resources and the operating margin in hospitals. The analyzed results are as follows: First, it is found out that an index related to labor productivity(the monthly value added per bed, the value added ratio to gross revenue), and an index for efficiency of human resources(value added to personnel expenses), do not have a significant difference by years. Second, labor productivity, indicating the efficiency of human resources, does not have a significant difference between regions and between hospital types. But there is a significant difference according to types of establishment: private hospitals have higher labor productivity(efficiency of human resources) than corporate hospitals. The hospital size is small have significantly higher labor productivity. As a result of a follow-up check, it is found out that there is separation between a group with more than 200 beds and a group with less than 200 beds. Third, at the relations between the indices related to value-added productivity and the operating margin that the higher the value added ratio to gross revenue and the higher labor productivity, the higher the operating margin. Especially, labor productivity(value added to personnel expenses), an index for the efficiency of human resources, out of all the indices related value added productivity, has the most significant influence on the operating margin.

경험디자인의 개념과 특성에 관한 연구 - 인간의 공간 인지 과정을 중심으로 - (A Study on Definition and Characteristic of Experience Design - Focused on Human's Cognition Process in Space -)

  • Main elements in definition of space value were physical, formal, and reasonable characteristics in the past. Howener recently, definition of space value is changing by being advanced about study concerned with human's cognition and thinking way in definition and analysis of space. As you see, cognitive psychologists have emphasized the importance of human's cognitive structure and process and studied diverse aspects of human's thinking ; consciousness, perception, memory, image, language, decision-making, inference, and so on. Therefore main elements in definition of space value are five-dimensional, psychological, symbolic, mental, emotional characteristics above physical, formal, and reasonable characteristics. As mentioned above, the conversion of thinking focused on reason to thinking focused on human's spirit and emotion is achieved in contemporary architecture and 'human's experience' in space becomes a very important factor. For that reason, the purpose of this study is consideration of human's cognitive process in space by conversion of thinking and gives a definition about experience. And, I would like to define 'experience design' whose main attribute is experience in space and establish theoretical basis of experience design through theoretical researches about experience. This study on experience design that induces users to participate in space and stimulate human's spirit is a important point in definition of space value not only contemporary interior architecture but also prospective generation.

다시마 분말을 첨가하여 제조한 쿠키의 품질특성과 항산화효과 (Antioxidative Effect and Quality Characteristics of Cookies Made with Sea tangle powder)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the antioxidative effect and quality characteristics of cookies made with Sea tangle powder(STP). The cookies were at $30^{\circ}C$ for 45 days. The 3% STP had higher pH value compared to the other groups and control. As more STP was added, the L-value and b-value decreased, and the a-value increased for the color values. The results of sensory evaluation and acceptance test showed that the cookies with 3% STP was significantly more preferable in overall acceptability than the others. The acid value, peroxide value, and thiobarbituric acid value were lower in cookies with 3% and 6% STP than in those cookies made 9% STP and the control cookies.

  • So many patterns of the clothing give the specific indication for one's clothing behavior and present the common style for the society. Human being gives the one's free expression and attempts to change the existing cultural environment by the clothing even though human being would be restricted in choosing the clothing within the category of the society & the culture. The value of human being which attempts to escape the restriction through the behavior theory of T. Parsons is analysed and studied. The role of the modern society is being transformed and human being attempts to express one's self through the clothing very strongly. The clothing behavior means the expression of oneself for others. This phenomenon comes from the changing of human being's view of value through the social & cultural environment which give human being the freedom of the individual to choose the various clothing.

도교의 생명주체환경윤리 (Bioautonomous environmental ethics of Taoism)

  • 이 글은 도가·도교의 생명주체주의를 기초로 도교의 환경윤리를 고찰한다. 동아시아 전통사상 가운데 생명 개념을 가장 포괄적이고 심도 있게 발전시킨 것은 도교이다. 도교에서 모든 개체생명은 도성을 갖기 때문에 인간의 가치평가와 무관하게 내재적 가치를 갖는다. 그런데 도교에서 인간은 다른 개체생명과 달리 생명주체성을 갖는다. 도교에서 인간은 자신의 생명을 타율적 자연의 흐름에 맡기는 것이 아니라, 자기의식 아래 자율적으로 조정할 수 있는 주체적 능동적 존재이다. 자신의 요절과 장수는 하늘에 의해 결정되는 것이 아니라 개체자아의 의지에 따라 결정된다. 그런데 인간의 생명주체성은 두 가지 상이한 의미를 내포한다. 하나는 인간이 다른 개체생명을 자신의 불로장생의 도구로 이용할 수 있다는 것이고, 다른 하나는 인간이 우주생명의 내재적 가치 즉 각 개체생명간의 조화로움을 실현하는 주체라는 것이다. 그런데 도교는 우주생명의 조화로움을 상위가치로 본다. 따라서 개체생명으로서 인간의 가치 실현은 우주생명의 조화로운 질서 유지와 다른 개체생명의 가치 실현이 전제되어야 한다. 도교의 환경윤리는 생명중심주의가 아니다. 생명중심주의는 존재의 선과 생명의 목적론적 중심이라는 측면에서 인간과 다른 생명체를 동등하게 취급함으로써 인간이 해야 할 역할과 책임을 축소시킨다. 그러나 도교는 우주생명의 조화 실현에 대한 인간의 역할과 책임을 강조한다. 그러므로 도교의 환경윤리는 생명중심주의가 아니라 생명주체주의이다. 도교의 생명주체환경윤리는 인간이 다른 개체생명과의 관계에서 책임적 존재가 되어야할 것을 강조한다는 점에서 생태환경회복의 하나의 대안이 될 수 있다.

Life Insurance Ownership of Households: Term and Cash-value Life Insurance

  • This study attempted to identify the factors related to life insurance focusing on two different types of life insurance: term life insurance and cash-value life insurance. Based on the human capital, bequest motives theories, and decision under risk, a conceptual framework was developed. The results showed a support for the conceptual framework indicating that human capital, bequest motives as well as attitude toward risk were important factors in predicting each of life insurance ownership. In addition, the factors related to each type of life insurance were different. For term life insurance, the variables representing households' bequest motives were found to play an important role while the variables reflecting human capital theory had significant impact on cash-value life insurance holding.
