ZnO:Al films were prepared by an rf magnetron sputtering and targets for the experiments were fabricated by sintering the mixture of ZnO and Al2O3. The most conductive film was obtained from the target with 2.0∼2.2 wt.% of Al2O3. Optical properties studied with spectroscopic ellipsometry showed band gap widening, i.e., the Burstein-Moss shift, with aluminum doping as well as with the elevation of deposition temperature. And it is found that the optical and electrical properties were related to the density of states as well as the variation of donor level. when hydrogen atoms were introduced into the films, the activation energy for the generation of oxygen vacancy was smaller for the films showing higher conductivity. This indicates that the optimum deposition condition for highly conductive ZnO:Al film has strong relation to the optimum doping condition.

In this paper, based on the need for high-strength connections between all-tungsten-oriented plasma materials and thermal sinking materials of copper and its alloys in nuclear fusion devices, a study on the effect of tungsten surface laser micro structuring on the interfacial bonding properties of W/Cu joints was carried out. In the experiment, the connectors were prepared by vacuum fusion infiltration technology, and the effects of microgroove structure on the mechanical and thermal conductivity of W/Cu connectors were investigated under different parameters (including microgroove pitch, microgroove depth, and microgroove taper). The maximum shear strength is 126.0 MPa when the pitch is 0.15 mm and the depth is 34 ㎛. In addition, the negative taper structure, i.e., the width of the entrance of the microstructure is smaller than the width of the interior of the microstructure, is also investigated. The shear tests show that there is an approximately linear relationship between the shear strength of W/Cu and taper. Compared with the positive taper, the shear strength of the samples with the same morphological density and depth of the tungsten surface is significantly higher.
P-type $\beta$-FeSi$_2$ with a nominal composition of $Fe_{0.92}Mn_{0.08}Si_2$ powders has been produced by mechanical alloying process. As-milled powders were spray dried and consolidated by atmospheric plasma thermal spraying as a rapid sintering process. As-milled powders were of metastable state and fully transformed to $\beta$-$FeSi_2$ phase by subsequent isothermal annealing. However, as-thermal sprayed $Fe_{0.92}Mn_{0.08}Si_2$ consisted of untransformed mixture of $\alpha$-$Fe_2Si_{5}$ and $\varepsilon$-FeSi phases. Isothermal annealing has been carried out to induce transformation to the thermoelectric semiconducting $\beta$-$FeSi_2$ phase. Isothermal annealing at $845^{\circ}C$ in vacuum gradually led to the thermoelectric semiconducting $\beta$-$FeSi_2$ phase transformation, but some residual metallic $\alpha$ and $\varepsilon$ phases were unavoidable even after prolonged annealing. Thermoelectric properties of $\beta$-$FeSi_2$ materials before and after isothermal annealing were evaluated. Seebeck coefficient increased and electric conductivity decreased with increasing annealing time due to the phase transition from metallic phases to semiconducting phases. Thermoelectric properties showed gradual increment, but overall properties appeared to be inferior to those of vacuum hot pressed specimens.

In this study, heavy rare earth garnet $Tb_2Bi_1Ga_1Fe_4O_{12}$ powders were fabricated by a sol-gel and vacuum annealing process. The crystal structure was found to be single-phase garnet with a space group of Ia3d. The lattice constant $a_0$ was determined to be 12.465 ${\AA}$. From the analysis of the vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) hysteresis loop at room temperature, the saturation magnetization and coercivity of the sample are 7.64 emu/g and 229 Oe, respectively. The N$\acute{e}$el temperature($T_N$) was determined to be 525 K. The M$\ddot{o}$ssbauer spectrum of $Tb_2Bi_1Ga_1Fe_4O_{12}$ at room temperature consists of 2 sets of 6 Lorentzians, which is the pattern of single-phase garnet. From the results of the M$\ddot{o}$ssbauer spectrum at room temperature, the absorption area ratios of Fe ions on 24d and 16a sites are 74.7% and 25.3%(approximately 3:1), respectively. These results show that all of the non-magnetic Ga atoms occupy the 16a site by a vacuum annealing process. Absorption area ratios of Fe ions are dependent not only on a sintering condition but also on the temperature of the sample. It can then be interpreted that the Ga ion distribution is dependent on the temperature of the sample. The M$\ddot{o}$ssbauer measurement was carried out in order to investigate the atomic migration in $Tb_2Bi_1Ga_1Fe_4O_{12}$.

This paper is intended as an investigation of study on the thermal and electrical characteristics of the carbon heating element. In this experimentation, the electric material used is the crystalline graphite a kind of natural graphite. The bentonite is used to solidify the heating element and the vacuum furnace is used for sintering it. It is noted that the natural drying time should be at least 58 hours. The plating of the electric pole with the electroless nickel showed the lowest contact resistance among others. The resistance shows linear variation with regard to length. For the insulation and resolution, the glaze coating is best with 80% of water content. The temperature rising characteristic of the heating element is better than sheath heater saving 43% of rising time. The correlation equation for temperature was obtained with the electric power.
The SiC/MoSi2 composite materials were fabricated by infiltrating the mixture of molybdenum disilicide and metal silicon(MoSi2+Si=100) to a porous compact of silicon carbide and graphite under the vacuum atmosphere of 10-1 torr. The specimen were oxidized in dry air under 1 atm at 130$0^{\circ}C$~150$0^{\circ}C$ for 240 hours. The oxidation behavior was evaluated by the weight gain and loss per unit area of the oxidized samples. Also, SEM and XRD analysis of the oxidized surface of the samples were carried out. With increasing the MoSi2 content and oxidation temperature, the passive oxidation was found. The trend of weight gain of all samples was followed the parabolic rate law with the formation of a protective layer of cristobalite on the surface.

In this study 9.5/65/35 PLZT was selected which has the excellent quadratic electro-optic property and slim-loop. It was fabricated by the methods of vacuum hot-pressing and sintering. The electrode of color filter was evaporated using the interdigital type masks. Hysteresis and transmission characteristics were measured. The coercive field and the nontransmited field were correlative. Aging effect was measured according to time at same temperature. Wavelengths of RGB were chosen 700[nm] for red, 545[nm] for green and 435[nm] for blue by the standard of the Commission Internationale del Eclaiage.
With the emergence of the 3D CAD, it is possible to create a physical part directly from a digital model by accumulating layers of a given material. The technology is being widely used for checking designs, to create master models for rapid tooling, and for reverse engineering. However, in general, a model created by rapid prototyping technology is made of soft material that cannot be used as mass prouduction hard tool. Newly developed powder casting is suitable for rapid-manufacturing metallic tools. Powder casting can serve as a promising rapid tooling method because of high density characteristics and low dimensional shrinkage below 0.1% during sintering and infiltration. Through this process, we have realized significant time and cost savings eliminating the expense of conventional prototype tooling process.
In the present work, we use multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) as the starting material for the fabrication of sintered carbon steel. A comparison is made with conventionally sintered carbon steel, where graphite is used as the starting material. Milling is performed using a horizontal mill sintered in a vacuum furnace. We analyze the grain size, number of pores, X-ray diffraction patterns, and microstructure. Changes in the physical properties are determined by using the Archimedes method and Vickers hardness measurements. The result shows that the use of MWCNTs instead of graphite significantly reduces the size and volume of the pores as well as the grain size after sintering. The addition of $Y_2O_3$.to the Fe-MWCNT samples further inhibits the growth of grains.
A complex-shaped part was successfully fabricated by Laminate Object Manufacturing (LOM) technique using silicon nitride tape with aligned silicon nitride whisker seeds. The ceramic tape was cut using a commercial cutting plotter according to the cross section drafts generated by slicing a 3-D model, and then the tapes were stacked sequentially. In order to improve adhesion between the tapes, stacking was performed under vacuum. After binder burnout, the part was encapsulated using latex emulsion and was cold isostaically pressed under 250 ㎫. It was sintered to 98.5% TD at 2148 K for 4 h under 2 ㎫ nitrogen pressure.
