Inhibition of Listeria monocytogenes in Vacuum or Modified Atmosphere-Packed Ground Beef by Lactococcal Bacteriocins

  • We investigated the antagonistic effects of two lactococcal bacteriocins, nisin or lacticin NK24, on the growth and the survival of Listeria monocytogenes in vacuum or modified atmosphere-packaged ground beef, Ground beef was inoculated with approximately 3 log colony-forming units (CFU) of L. monocytogenes ATCC 15313 culture per gram of ground beef. Inoculated samples were blended with/without 100 AU/g nisin or lacticin NK24, and subsequently vacuum or modified atmosphere packed at 4$^{\circ}C$. Listeria in the bacteriocin-treated and control samples was subsequently isolated from both vacuum and modified atmosphere packs and enumerated as CFU on Listeria Isolation Agar medium. Microbial counts in ground beef treated with bacteriocin declined steadily, while those of non-treated beef samples increased steadily. The results obtained demonstrate that nisin inhibits the growth of L. monocytogenes more effectively than lacticin NK24 at 100 AU/g. The use of lactococcal bacteriocins, such as nisin or lacticin NK24, in vacuum or modified atmosphere packaging offers a promising approach for eliminating or reducing the risk of L monocytogenes contamination in ground beef.

  • We have investigated the effect of plasma nitridation of atomic layer deposited-Al2O3 films of monocrystalline Si wafers and the thermal properties of nitridated Al2O3 films. Nitridation was performed on Al2O3 to form aluminum oxynitride (AlON) using NH3 plasma treatment in a plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition and it was conducted at temperature of $400^{\circ}C$ with various plasma power condition. After nitridation, we performed firing and forming gas annealing (FGA). For each step, we have observed the minority carrier lifetime and the implied Voc by using quasi-Steady-State photoconductance (QSSPC). We confirmed a tendency to increase the minority carrier lifetime and the implied Voc after the nitridation. On the other hand, the minority carrier lifetime and the implied Voc was decreased after Firing and forming gas annealing (FGA). To get more information, we studied properties of the plasma treated Al2O3 films by using Secondary Ion Mass Spectroscopy (SIMS) and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS).

투명 폴리카보네이트 판재의 고온 인장 거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on Tensile Behavior of Transparent Polycarbonate (PC) Plate in the High Temperature)

  • Recently, several researchers made their endeavor to manufacture the photobioreactor(PBR) with characteristic shapes form vacuum and blow forming process. Hence, behaviors of the transparent polycarbonate(PC) plate in the high temperature region should be examined to obtain the desired PBR case via vacuum and blow forming processes. The aim of this paper is to investigate tensile behavior of PC plate in the high temperature. Various tensile tests were performed using high temperature tensile testing machine. The influence of tensile speed, thickness and ambient temperature on tensile behavior in the high temperature was examined. The flow stress and tensile strength augmented when the tensile speed increased. In order to obtain proper flow curves with strain rate effects for different temperature of specimen, G'sell-Jonas model was adopted. The material constants of the G'sell-Jonas model were estimated. The flow curves of the PC plate considering the tensile speed, specimen thickness and temperature were obtained.

탄소섬유 복합여과재의 제조 및 물성연구 (A Study on the Preparation and Characterization of Carbon Fiber Composite Filter)

  • Rigid porous carbon fiber composites with the uniform pore size distribution were prepared by vacuum forming from water slurries containing carbonized PAN fibers, a phenolic resin and ceramic binders. The composites were designed to use for highly efficient carbon fiber filters for particulate filtration and gas adsorption. As the as-received carbon fibers of 1mm in length were milled to an approximate average length of 300${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, modulus of rupture (MOR) of the composite filter was increased from 1MPa to the value larger than 5 MPa. Modulus of rupture (MOR) for the composite filter fabricated using the milled carbon fiber was increased from 5 MPa to 10 MPa as the carbonization temperature of the PAN fiber was raised from 90$0^{\circ}C$ to 140$0^{\circ}C$. The air permeability and an average pore size of the composite filter were increased from 40 to 270cc/min.$\textrm{cm}^2$ and from 35 to 80${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, respectively, as the apparent porosity increased from 80 to 95%. It was shown that the MOR of the carbon fiber composite filter was dependent primarily on the average length of carbon fiber, carbonization temperature and the type of bonding materials.

  • In this study, we develop the lower pressure die casting with rheo-forming process of A356 aluminum alloy and vacuum system which can control the crystal size and obtain the high strengthened-light material. Using this process, we fabricate the thin plate for bipolar plate through the low pressure die casting with electromagnetic stirring and vacuum-evacuation which can control the crystal grain by electromagnetic stirring. Thin plate ($110mm{\times}130mm{\times}1mm$) is fabricated by this process. The average Vickers hardness of thin plate is about 77 HV.

  • 본 논문은 트리거 시간을 조절하여 펄스 성형이 가능한 150 MW 펄스 파워 시스템의 설계와 동작특성을 알아보았다. 이 시스템은 2개의 커패시터 뱅크 모듈로 구성되어 있고, 각 커패시터 뱅크 모듈은 병렬로 연결되어 있다. 그리고 커패시터 뱅크 모듈은 메인스위치, 커패시터, 에너지 덤프회로, 크로바 회로, 펄스 성형 인덕터로 구성되어 있다. 또한 이 시스템의 모듈 선택과 트리거 시간은 트리거 제어부에서 조정된다. Pspice 시뮬레이션은 실험회로의 결과를 예측하고, 시스템의 구성품의 파라미터를 결정하기 위한 것으로 사용하였다. 실험 결과, 시뮬레이션은 실험결과와 잘 일치하였다. 출력 전류의 펄스폭은 커패시터 뱅크 모듈에서의 순간적 점화 시간 제어로 300~650 us의 펄스폭이 형성되었다. 그리고 최대 전류값은 2개의 커패시터 뱅크 모듈이 동시에 트리거 되었을 때 약 40 kA 정도이다. 이 150 MW 펄스 파워 시스템은 파암 전원, Rail Gun, Coil Gun, 나노분말 제조, HPM 등과 같은 대전류 펄스 파워 시스템에 적용할 수 있다.

  • The main purpose of the present study has been placed on investigating the effects of controlled rolling and cooling on the microstructures and mechanical properties of C-Si-Mn-V steels for cold forming. The steels were manufactured in vacuum induction melting(VIM) furnace and casted to 1.1ton Ingots and the ingots were forged to $\Box150$ billet. The forged billets were reheated in walking beam furnace and rolled to coil, the stocks were rolled by Controlled Rolling and Cooling Technology (CRCT), so rolled at low temperature by water spraying applied in rolling stage and acceleratly cooled before coiling. Rolled coils were cold drawed to the degree of $27\%$ of area reduction without heat treatment. Microstructual observation, tensile test, compression test and charpy impact tests were conducted. The mechanical properties of the steels were changed by area reduction of cold drawing and it is founded that there are optimum level of cold drawing to minimize compression stress for these steels. From the result of this study, it is conformed that mechanical properties and microstructure of C-Si-Mn-V steels for cold forming were enhanced by accelerated cooling and founded optimum level of cold drawing.

동시 경화법으로 제조된 T800/에폭시 복합재료-알루미늄 단면겹치기조인트의 성형압력 및 부가압력에 따른 접착강도에 관한 연구 (A study on the bonding strength of co-cured T800/epoxy composite-aluminum single lap joint according to the forming and additional pressures)

  • 본 논문에서는 필라멘트 와인딩 시 장력에 의해 복합재료에 발생한 압력 정보를 이용하여 동시경화법으로 제조된 T800 탄소섬유/에폭시 복합재료-알루미늄 단면겹치기 접착조인트의 접착강도를 부가압력의 크기에 따라 측정하였다. 실험시편은 오토클레이브 진공백 성형을 통해 성형압력 (절대압력 0.1MPa, 0.3MPa, 0.7MPa)을 조절하여 제작하였다. 접착강도를 측정하기 위하여 인장실험이 실시되었으며, 필라멘트 와인딩 공정에 의해 제조된 Type III 수소저장용가의 복합재료-알루미늄 라이너의 계면 접착강도를 측정하기 위해 단면겹치기 접착조인트의 접착부에 일정한 압력을 가해줄 수 있는 압력부가 장치를 설계하였다. 적층된 복합재료에 가해지는 부가압력이 접착강도에 미치는 영향을 확인하기 위해 서로 다른 세 종류의 부가압력 (절대압력 0.1MPa, 0.3MPa, 0.7MPa)을 시편에 부가하여 접착강도를 측정하고, 그 결과를 비교하였다.

Comparing the Passivation Quality of Ozone and H2O Oxidant of Atomic Layer Deposited Al2O3 by Post-annealing in N2 and Forming Gas Ambients for Passivated Emitter and Rear Cell (PERC)

  • The effect of rear passivation for passivated emitter and rear cell (PERC) using ozone and H2O oxidant of atomic layer deposited (ALD) Al2O3 was studied by post-annealing in N2 and forming gas ambients. Rear surface of PERC solar cell was passivated by Al2O3 grown by ALD with ozone and H2O oxidant. Al2O3 grown by ALD with ozone oxidant has been known to have many advantages, such as lower interface defects, low leakage current density. Its passivation quality is better than Al2O3 with H2O. Al2O3 layer with 10 nm and 20 nm thickness was grown at $150^{\circ}C$ with ozone oxidant and at $250^{\circ}C$ with H2O oxidant. And then each samples were post-annealled at $450^{\circ}C$ in N2 ambients and at $850^{\circ}C$ in forming gas ambients. The passivation quality was investigated by measuring the minority carrier lifetime respectively. We examined atomic layer deposited Al2O3 such as growth rate, film density, thickness, negative fixed charge density at AlOx/Si interface, and reflectance. The influences of process temperature and heat treatment were investigated using Sinton (WCT-120) by Quasi-Steady State Photoconductance (QSSPC) mode. Ozone-based ALD Al2O3 film shows the best carrier lifetime at lower deposition temperature than H2O-based ALD.

NbOx 박막의 결정도에 따른 Threshold Switching 특성 변화 연구

  • 본 연구에서는 Sputter를 이용하여 Room Temp.에서 증착된 NbOx 박막의 열처리에 따른 결정도를 분석하고, 이러한 결정도의 변화가 Metal Insulator Transition특성에 의한 Threshold switching에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 지에 대하여 연구하였다. NbOx 박막의 threshold switching 특성 분석을 위해, 1.4um의 TiN 위에 15nm의 NbOx를 증착하고 Top Electrode로 Pt를 증착하여 측정하였다. 증착된 NbOx는 Nb metal target으로 Reactive Sputter를 이용하여 Room Temp.에서 증착하였으며, 조성은 Partial Oxygen Pressure를 이용하여 조절하였다. 증착된 박막의 결정도는 TEM 및 XRD를 통하여 분석하였고 조성은 XPS를 이용하여 분석하였다. Sputter로 NbOx 증착 시 Partial Oxygen Pressure에 따른 조성을 XPS로 확인한 결과, Partial Oxygen Pressure 2%에서 NbOx의 조성을, 5%이상일 경우, Nb2O5의 조성을 가지는 것으로 확인되었다. Partial Oxygen Pressure 2%에서 증착한 NbOx 박막의 열처리에 따른 결정도를 분석한 결과, As-Dep상태에서는 amorphous상태였다가 600'C이상으로 1분간 열처리를 하였을 때 NbOx의 결정도가 증가함을 확인하였다. I-V 특성 측정 결과, 열처리 온도가 증가함에 따라 initial current가 점진적으로 증가하는 경향을 보이는데, 이는 열처리 시 amorphous상에서 poly-crystalline으로 미세구조의 변화가 일어나면서 grain boundary가 생성되며 생성된 grain boundary를 통해 leakage current가 증가하는 것으로 추측된다. 또한, 결정도가 증가함에 따라 electro-forming voltage가 감소하는 경향을 보이며 안정된 threshold switching 특성을 보이고 있다. 특히, 700'C 1분간 열처리 시에는 electro-forming 과정이 없이 threshold switching이 나타나는 현상이 관찰되었다. 이로 미루어 보아, threshold switching에서 나타나는 forming 현상은 local joule heating에 의해 박막이 결정화 되는 과정으로 추측된다. 결론적으로, 박막의 결정도가 initial current 및 Threshold switching 특성에 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 예상된다.
