A Study on the Wideband Microstrip Disk Antenna (X대역 마이크로스트립 디스크 안테나에 관한 연구)

  • This paper proved experimentally that the disc array microstrip antenna designed and manufactured at X-band is capable to use for wide band antenna. This antenna arrayed the discs to have different resonant frequencies log-periodically on printed circuit board. The experimental result of this antenna showed the flat gain and good impedence matching characteristics. The VSWR of this antenna is 2.2 below through the system band.

  • 본 논문에서는 IMT-2000 단말기용 광대역 특성을 갖는 PIFA를 설계하였다. 일반적인 PIFA 구조는 협대역과 저이득의 특성을 갖는데, 대역폭과 이득을 동시에 확보하기 위해 이중 L 안테나 구조를 이용하였다. 설계 제작된 안테나는 1920MHz∼2170MHz에서 VSWR<2를 만족하였고, 복사패턴과 이득도 성능규격을 만족하였다. 안테나는 상용툴인 IE3D를 이용하여 설계되었다. 성능은 FDTD 해석결과와 측정결과와의 비교를 통해 검증하였다.

The Characteristics of Microwaves in the Plasma Medium (프라스마내의 마이크로파 특성)

  • This paper shows the characteristics of microwaves in a plasma medium bounded by a waveguide. A standing wave detector which has VSWR less than 1.05 is designed and constructed. The electromagnetic waves which propagate through the plasma is reflected partly by the interaction between the external magnetic fields and plasma. The plasma is consisted of the electrons and positive ions ionized by high temperature of tungsten filament inserted in the waveguide. The transmitted power through the plasma was reduced by the amount of 1.5db from the reference.

  • In this paper, we designed and fabricated a broadband antenna for EMI site validation above 1 GHz. To develop the antenna which is satisfied omni-directional radiation pattern and broadband characteristics required by CISPR, we designed biconical type with cylindrical load. The developed antenna has good characteristics of the radiation patterns and VSWR<2 the frequency range from 1 GHz to 18 GHz.

  • A miniaturized planar digital video broadcasting terrestrial (DVB-T) antenna, which is composed of a patterned helical line, an open stub, and an impedance matching circuit on an FR4 (${\varepsilon}_r$=4.4) substrate for portable media player applications, is presented in this letter. The antenna has monopole-like, omni-directional radiation characteristics and a wide impedance bandwidth (VSWR<3) in the DVB-T band from 174 MHz to 230 MHz at the VHF band.

  • Transmission characteristics of a linear double rectangular taper is analysed by the trans-mission matrix of the taper. The total transmission matrix of the taper is obtained by multiplication of transmission matrices of smrjll taper sections which is decided into uniform length along the taper axis. The VSWR calculated from the transmission matrix is compared with those of Johnson and Matsumaru.

  • This paper presents a design of a multi-band infernal antenna for mobile handsets which can cover the major mobile services such as WiBro/WiMAX mobile internet services and Media-FLO/S-DMB services. Using wideband monopole antenna structure, the proposed antenna obtains the wide bandwidth characteristic at high Sequency band to be applicable for new mobile services. Stacking meandered radiator on the wideband monopole radiator and obtaining the different current path and lenga on these stacked radiators, overall antenna volume is effectively reduced. The measured bandwidths (VSWR<3) of the proposed antenna is 270 MHz and 2032 MHz at low and high band, respectively. This antenna can effectively covers major wireless communication bands including Media-FLO, CDMA, GSM, GPS, DCS, PCS, UMTS, WiBro, WiMAX, and S-DMB.

  • In this paper, a folded helical monopole antenna for TDMB receiving and a trapezoidal fractal microstrip patch antenna for GPS were designed and fabricated for the vehicle shark antenna. To minimize null which is generating toward antenna axis direction and to receive both vertical polarization and horizontal polarization for TDMB antenna, we fold 90 degree helical monopole element. GPS antenna to get wide bandwidth and gain improvement was designed an air substrate trapezoidal microstrip patch antenna. Fabricated TDMB and GPS antenna were measured for S11 and radiation pattern, and compared with a commercialized antenna. TDMB antenna shows 3 dB higher antenna gain and receiving signal strength than the commercial one. GPS antenna shows the gain of 4.31 dBi at the resonant frequency, which is $3{\sim}5\;dB$ higher gain over whole operating band and 135MHz wide bandwidth at 2:1 VSWR than the conventional ceramic antenna.

  • In this paper, WCDMA indoor repeater antenna using an absorber based on metamaterial structure for high isolation is proposed. The proposed antenna consist of the main patch with the absorber based on metamaterial structure and parasitic patch. The WCDMA bandwidth is obtained by utilizing the coupling between the main and parasitic patches. The size of the absorber based on metamaterial structure is $13mm{\times}13mm$, the absorption is about 94 % at 2.18 GHz. The isolation characteristic of proposed WCDMA indoor repeater antenna between the service and donor antennas is improved by using a absorber based on metamaterial. The proposed WCDMA indoor repeater antenna has a gain higher than 6 dBi with a VSWR less than 2, and an isolation between the service and donor antennas greater than 85 dB over the WCDMA band from 1.92 GHz to 2.17 GHz. And size of the proposed antenna is $75mm{\times}75mm$.

Study of Improved Efficiency Circuit for Envelope Tracking Amplifier in Cellular Radio Handset (샐룰러용 단말기의 포락선 추적 증폭기의 효율 개선회로에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, a envelope tracking(ET) amplifier that improves efficiency by changing of the bias according to the RF input level is presented to use for a high power amplifier of cellular radio handset using CDMA. The input and the output impedances of the ET amplifier may be varied by changing of the bias of the amplifier, and it makes the amplifier having low gain, low efficiency, and high input and output VSWR. In order to improve the input and the output mismatch of the amplifier, in this paper, two types of ET amplifier are suggested. In case of an ET amplifier using varactor diode, in experimentation, gain is improved about 7dB and the power consumption of the amplifier is better about 60% than that of the conventional amplifier. In case of a base voltage controlled ET amplifier, the gain and power consumption of the amplifier is improved about 9dB and 40% than those of the conventional amplifier, respectively.
