  • In this paper, a VR-based cyber hiking system was designed to provide virtual reality for famous mountains that can offer the real senses and feelings of hiking in supporting environmental factors of actual mountains such as the temperature, air, sound, echoes, etc., of the mountain the user wants to climb. The VR-based cyber hiking system that reflects real-time site conditions is largely consisted of the data collection module that collects data from the live site, multiple drive modules that enables the user to feel real senses using data from the sites, and sensor module to detect the stimuli provided by the drive modules and the user's physical body transition. Unlike existing VR-based hiking systems, the proposed cyber hiking system not only provides simple virtual reality for the wanted mountain, but can also provide the natural conditions of real mountains and implement the uphill and downhill of hiking routes. In particular, it has the effect of providing fun and game elements to users by excluding unnecessary conditions and risks that may arise in actual hiking and instead supporting augmented realities such as squirrels on actual hiking paths. In addition, in providing users with the changes in their body before and after hiking, it is expected to be effective in providing diverse feedback such as the height, gradient, and speed of mountain hiking.

  • The purpose of this paper is to explain the recipient's psychology, which results from the operation of media, from the perspective of the fluctuation between immersion and contemplation. Media allow to perceive and speculate about specific objects or meanings. In addition, the media perform the function of expanding or changing the objects of perception and thought. McLuhan or Luhmann's media theory emphasized this function of changing the state of perception by inducing a contemplative attitude. This notion is exemplified by interpretation of the visual media history. In this paper, the cases of film and computer game are discussed. In particular, it is considered that VR media causing strong immersion have also developed in a way that allows recipients to contemplate an virtually constructed reality. The commercialization of Tilt Brush and the experimentation of VR painting artwork are the examples for this dual development.

  • In this paper, we propose a new paradigm of augmented reality board game environment and a portable game assistant(PGA) which can help gamers with strategy information. Previous AR board games consist of a private and public space. The public space provides rules of the game and shows the scene of game. And the gamers control game pieces in the public space. The previous games use the RFIDs for recognizing positions of the pieces, and the VR/AR environment for providing the scene of the game. However the RFIDs are expansive, and the VR/AR environment is inconvenient because it uses additional devices: the DataGlove, the digital pen, and the HMD. The proposed system recognizes positions of real pieces using the computer vision technique, and uses a monitor to provide dynamic effects. In the private space, previous systems provide entire screen of game and position of specific pieces, but cannot be controled the pieces by gamers. Therefore, in this system, we provide PGA that helps the user to plan of the strategy individually using universally mobile. The PGA helps to plan the strategy in the individual area, and to play easily in the side of the user's convenience.

  • Entering the digital cinema era, movies and games are remediating each other. The shots of digital movies are being transformed into realistic content through digital Moving long-take shots that transcend time and space and move smoothly. At this time, the digital Moving long take shot that continuously captures the space in all directions without an external screen induces a game experience. In addition, the camera that constantly accompanies the person enhances the sense of immersion in the game in a way similar to the point of view of the game. While various immersive device contents represented by VR, AR and XR are emerging, the advent of <1917> suggests significant implications for post-cinema in that it creates a game experience while maintaining the traditional screen environment and cinematic paradigm.

  • Breaking the fourth wall is a very popular concept right now, and depictions of breaking the barrier between virtuality and reality are often used in game advertising. In VR games, game manufacturers describe the experience after breaking the fourth wall as an experiencer who will be completely immersed in the virtual world, as if they are actually living in the virtual world. At the same time, research in the field of traditional drama also shows that breaking the fourth wall can also bring a sense of alienation to the player, allowing the experiencer to clearly realize that he and the character are in a completely different world, and to conduct aesthetic criticism of related works of art.So why there are two completely different feelings after breaking the fourth wall will be the content of this article. This article will focus on the theoretical analysis of the relationship between two different cognitions and two completely different cognitions after breaking the fourth wall. Finally, it will be analyzed from three directions: game perspective, game art style, and different world views of the game. Finally, it was concluded that when players break the fourth wall in the game, these three factors will cause the experiencer to have two completely different cognitions.
