  • The purpose of this study is to explore the narrative of VR disaster and safety Education introduced by disaster film narrative. VR(Virtual Reality) is be suitable technology for disaster and safety Education due to media characteristics as 'immersion', 'presence', 'interactivity', 'pleasure'. Disaster film narrative is able to be worth VR disaster and safety education as a variety of stories and educational effect. For this study, examine a theoretical study and a visiting research of 'Busan 119 Safety & Experience Center'. This study concludes that Firstly need to introduce catharsis effect, Secondly, build 'interactive narratives' that ensure active participation of users, Thirdly, introduce an 'adventure game' narrative element, Fourthly, introduce a hero-shaped narrative in which the user becomes a one-man hero, And lastly, need education as use user's multiple access and group experience learning. • VR movies form a relationship with the audience in completely different ways from general movies with their screen. In VR movies, the audience becomes the camera and also the subject of the camera viewpoint, which raises a need for a frame theory unique to VR movies to examine the first person viewpoint and replace the edition of frames to deliver a narrative. In VR movies, the frames delivering a narrative are not revealed and perform the symbolic narrative function, thus being called "implicit frames." The study discussed their related theoretical backgrounds including Russian Ark made in the one shot, one cut method by Alexander Sokurov, off-screen elements, and the Fourth Wall. In VR movies, the audience gets immersed in the narrative based on their paradoxical dilemma, which means that they exist in reality but are absent on screen at the same time, and experiences hyper-reality. In VR movies, space has a couple of attributes including the blocking of eyeline to move it and telepresence to tie up presence between reality and virtuality.

  • Special theaters were created to provide a sense of immersion and spectacles due to differentiated screens, sound, seating facilities, and advanced services, and also expanded screens. The purpose of this study is to perform comparative analysis of the technical characteristics formats shown in special theaters(3D film, 4DX, IMAX, ScreenX, and VR) in order to identify and find ways to overcome the technological limitations in production. The various formats show differences in field of view depending on the exhibition technology and these differences affect the mise-en-scene, narrative, and editing of the film and consequently result in changes in the production environment and process. Therefore, directors and creators must understand the technological features and limitations of the new formats before making their approach. However, a new format encounters limitations on production sets due to the decline of technical education and succession. In situations where shooting with a special camera is essential, the particular characteristics of each format should be carefully considered from the planning stage but financial problems arise due to increase in production period and cost. To overcome these various obstacles, it is essential to first identify problems and present alternatives through in-depth research on the production set of each format. Finally, this research aims to explore the prototype of each format and analyze the current state of production technology with formats that have not been adapted to the market trends by combining with the other formats and showing that they can survive in new ways.
