  • In this paper, we apply the system in VMEbus to increase the stability and viability to implement a redundant network protocol. Typically, methods for increasing the viability of the system applied by the redundancy scheme between the two processes by configuring the network in between the two is to implement redundancy. However, the physical network in the process of the failure or when the loss function may not perform properly. These issues are complementary processes as a way to ensure stability between the VMEbus communication protocol is presented through a redundant network. In this paper, a direct implementation of the protocol and experimental results confirm the validity of these measures is to.

  • This paper describes a new 14-CPU real-time distributed automatic gauge control (AGC) system for POSCO's No. 2 Hot Strip Mill at Pohang Works. The new AGC system has adopted gaugemeter AGC, Monitor AGC, and roll gap disturbance compensators. The computer system for the new AGC system has been developed based on VMEbus computer systems and a commercial real-time operating system. A VMEbus computer system is also used for the position servo control of hydraulic cylinders. All the application programs and input/output signals have been reasonably distributed over the control computer systems for the maximum reliability and effectiveness of the system. The new AGC system has been successfully used for the No. 2 Hot Strip Mill.

  • According to the needs for equipment performance, reliability, and performance for impending time to guarantee its viability, various redundancy techniques have been used in many military systems. Typically, one of redundancy schemes to increase the viability of the system is to configure a network between two processes. However, when some failure or loss in a physical network occur, redundancy schemes may not operate well. In this paper, we present a protocol scheme of VMEbus master and slave of a shared memory region, interrupts, and a dedicated task communication. Specifically, we confirm the validity of the presented scheme through the direct implementation of the protocol and some experimental results.

  • This paper describes of VME-BSA which is a tool for the development, mainternance and repair. In micro/mini computer system using VMEbus as a backplane bus, VME-BSA has some good facilities such as acquiring, storing and analyzering the information (address, data, etc.) on VMEbus according to the various condition which is set by users, and therefore it is easy to isolate and find many complete errors on bus.

  • This paper deals with an I/O simulator design for performance evaluation of reactor protection systems in nuclear power plants. The I/O simulator provides input signals for the reactor protection system, and acquires output signals from the initiation circuits. The simulator is based on VMEbus system, and all VMEbus boards are developed within the country.

  • In this paper, we implement the system for speech processing to provide the subscribers who are using the telephone network with better speech services. We develop the specified board which is processing speech signal and devise the system which carries out storing and replaying the speech signal under the condition that one master board controls multiple DSP(Digital Signal Processing) boards using VME bus. We use CPU30 board as a maste board and develop SPM(Signal Processing Module) board as a DSP board and then evaluate performance of the system.

  • We propose a real time kernel chimera implemented under AT&T UNIX motorola versoin, Carnegie Mellon Univ. in U.S first developed chimera using SUN Worstation with Berkley UNIX based on VMEbus. The major differences between Canegie Mellon's and ours are downloading program and communication method between host and target. Original chimera used device driver but we used UNIX system call corresponding to shared memory when user downloads program and communicates. We modified kernel itself because the two different UNIX have different link editor.

  • In this paper, a realization of a real-time train information system(TIS) is discussed. The requirements of TIS which satisfy real-time constraints are analyzed in view of data transfer. For efficient data communication in TIS, a new network system is suggested and its real-time characteristics are analyzed and compared with the standard network system. A local unit is designed based on VMEbus system.

  • The application of VXIbus system, an Industry standard, is rapidly spreading with its ability to offer the easiness of integration from GPIB and the fast data transmission from VMEbus system. Compared with VXIbus Register Based Device, VXIbus Message Based Device has a drawback In the aspect of speed. But it is possible to utilize high level ASCII commands to control a Message Based Device, therefore system integration is much easier with Message Based Device than with Register Based Device. And, the FFT analyzer is an instrument for signal analysis which can be inexpensively implemented to be fast and have high resolution. Its wide ability of analysis presents numerous application. So, it is necessary to apply VXIbus system to FFT analyzer. In this paper, the implementation of FFT analyzer is performed using a DSP module and by implementing all A/D conversion circuit and a control module which performs VXIbus interface. The device can be controlled by Slot0 Commender which supports VXIbus Shared Memory Protocol through VXIbus.

  • For FA (factory automation) and ATE (automatic test equipment) in the industrial area, the standard bus needs to increase the system performance of multiprocessor environment. VME(versa module european package format) bus is appropriated to the standard bus but has features of small package and low board density. Beside, the density of board and semiconductor have grown to become significant issues that affect development time, project cost and field diagnostics. To fit this trend, in this paper, we composed Revision C.1 (IEEE std. P1014-1987) of the integrated environment for the main function such as arbitration, interrupt and interface between, VMEbus and several control modules Also the designed, VME system controller is implemented on FPGA that can be located even into slot 1. The control and function modules are coded with VHDL mid-fixed description method and then those operations are verified by simulation. As a result of experiment, we confirmed the most important that is the operation of Bus timer about Bus error signal should occur within $56{\mu}m$, and both control and function modules have the reciprocal operation correctly. Thus, the constructed VHDL library will be able to apply the system based VMEbus and ASIC design.
