  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the daily living area of the elderly using the vast amount of travel route data collected through smart phones. In order to analyze the utilization status of the elderly into the visiting area and the living area, the subway station influence area was typed based on the number and ratio of the elderly visiting and the elderly living there. The characteristics of the elderly visiting area and the living area of the subway station area were derived by analyzing the walking route data for the three types of subway station influence areas where the elderly visit and live. First, we derive the range of visiting area and living area of the elderly near the subway station. Second, we derive the characteristic of moving distance which causes the linked walking of the elderly. Third, destination distribution and facility utilization are influenced by the subject of use, movement pattern, and facility awareness.

  • Background: Currently, the number of patients visiting pain clinics is increasing with the augmented concerns of the patients about management of pain. We conducted this study in order to comprehend the characteristics of the patients visiting pain clinics and to find a method to further raises the public's awareness about pain treatment. Methods: We surveyed 497 new patients who had visited pain clinic of Kyungpook national university hospital from August 1998 to July 1999. We analysed these patients about their age, sex, chief complaint, duration of pain complaints, resident district, educational level and route of visiting pain clinic by use of questionnaire. Results: In age distribution, the largest proportion (29.8%) were in their 60's. Low back pain was the most common chief complaint (33.0%), the highest (43.7%) percentage of patients had complained of pain for over 6 months. Two thirds of the patients lived in urban area. Patients who were educated to only elementary school level made up the largest group with 35.3%. Referrals from former patients who had visited our pain clinic and had received treatment. Conclusions: As increasing patients who have pain complaints are related to social advanced age, it is prudent to consider the characteristics of age related pain complaints. And we have to guide the pain patients to have more earlier treatments using mass media because there is still insufficient general information about pain clinic and pain managements.

  • Shipyards are potential environments for using IoT services, sensor networks, and delay tolerant networks. Simulations of those services and networks strongly rely on human mobility models. Results obtained with an unrealistic model may not reflect the true performance of applications, protocols, and algorithms in a shipyard. A lot of synthetic models for human movements have been studied but most of them are generic and focus on the daily movements of humans on city scales. Nevertheless, workers in shipyards have unique movement characteristics such as movement speed, pause time, and attractions places. For instance, workers usually move to some places, where they work, and rarely move to other places in the factory. Movement characteristics of workers not only depend on workers but also on tasks, which they do. For instance, workers, who paint ships, have similar movement speed and pause time. Hence, in this paper, human movements in shipyards are studied. We propose a new human mobility model called the human mobility mode in shipyards (MIS). In MIS, workers are classified into multiple types. Movement characteristics of a worker are similar to other workers in the same type. Based on the visiting probability, workers have some places, where they frequently visits, and some places, where they rarely visit. We analyze real mobility traces and studie to achieve human movement characteristics from real traces. The results show that MIS provides a well-match to the movement characteristic from real traces.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between characteristics of social media sites (SNS) and the intention of Pakistani tourists to visit South Korea while determining the role of usefulness, interestingness, and involvement of tourists. Research design, data and methodology: A research model was developed through the previous research, and the questioner-based survey was conducted on Pakistani tourists visiting Korea. The survey data was collected by following multiple hypotheses: the relationship between SNS tourism information and perception of SNS, the relationship between SNS perception and intention to visit, and adjustment of involvement in the relation between tourism information characteristics, and SNS perception. We used SPSS and AMOS24.0 statistical tools to analyze the hypothesis testing data. Results: Based on the data analysis, the study found that the characteristics of SNS have a positive effect on intention to visit via users' perception like usefulness and interestingness. The involvement has a moderating effect between SNS characteristics and users' perception. In the group with high involvement, the degree of influence of the quality factor of SNS on user perception was greater than in the group with low involvement. Conclusions: This study demonstrated that traveler's involvement has a moderating effect on the relationship between SNS characteristics and visit intention for Pakistani travelers visiting Korea. It shows that practitioners or researchers should establish and operate SNS strategies in consideration of user involvement.

  • Purpose: Abdominal pain is the most common symptom of patients visiting the emergency department (ED). Abdominal pain is caused by a variety of causes, so it is difficult for a triage nurse to determine the urgency of a patient, but it is still a must. The purpose of this study was to identify the related factors to the urgent diseases of patients with abdominal pain visiting ED. Methods: This study was a retrospective descriptive study. The study setting was an ED in a tertiary hospital in Korea. Data were collected from September 1, 2017 to October 15, 2017. During the study period, of a total of 6,181 patients visiting the ED, 731 complained of abdominal pain. Patients with obvious cause of pain and patients who could not express detailed symptoms were excluded. The 573 patients were included in the final analysis. We collected demographics, clinical characteristics, and final diagnosis. We divided final diagnoses into urgent diseases which were more likely to be life-threatening without treatment and non-urgent diseases. We identified the related factors to the urgent diseases of patients with abdominal pain using the logistic regression. Results: 173 (30.2%) patients had urgent diseases. Age (OR=1.02, 95% CI=1.00~1.03), referral from other clinics (OR=2.92, 95% CI=1.86~4.60), ambulance utilization (OR=2.00, 95% CI=1.27~3.15), diarrhea (OR=0.44, 95% CI=0.25~0.76), and tachycardia (OR=2.27, 95% CI=1.44~3.58) were related to urgent diseases. Conclusion: Triage nurse should take into account the patient's age, mode of visiting, and route of visiting ED; and check the symptom of tachycardia or diarrhea.
