  • This paper proposes a method of analyzing the effect of non-ideal VIS (Voltage Inverter Switch) operation on SCF characteristics. In the special case of the VIS realized with only one switch, equivalent circuits of the elements proposed in [1]. [2]. [3] are obtained from the above results. Applying these results, SCF's operating at higher frequency than the conventional ones can be implemented and the equivalent circuits of most SC circuits can be obtained. Expermental results of a low-pass filter and a band-stop filter show good agreements with the theoretical characteristics.

  • As the fundamental study of designing x-ray dosimeter , we measured the voltage variation of CdS, II-VI group semiconductor compound, by mAs variation. We obtained data in the condition of 50, 70 kVp, by increasing the tube current as 1, 2, 2.5, 3.2, 4, 5, 10, 20, 32, 50 and 80 mAs. The output time of CdS was increased as mAs increased. We figured the slope value of 50kVp as 0.0088 and 0.0081 of 70 kVp. And by regression method, we obtained the standard deviation of time, Y axis, at 50 and 70kVp as 0.00268 and 0.00333. The result of this ssudy is so important to design x-ray dosimeter.

  • PURPOSES : Traffic congestions which occur in the intersections of arterials lead to mobility and environment problem, and then traffic agencies and engineers have been struggling for mitigating congestions with greenhouse gas emissions. As an alternative of solving theses problems, this study is to introduce a low-cost and high-effectiveness countermeasure as unconventional intersections which are successfully in operation in U.S.. The main feature of unconventional intersections is to reroute turning movement on an approach to other approach, which consequently more green time is available for the progression of through traffic. Due to improved progression, this unique geometric design contributes to reduce delays with greenhouse gas emission and provides a viable alternative to interchanges. This study is to evaluate the potential operation and environment benefits of unconventional intersections. METHODS : This study used the VISSIM model with Synchro and EnViVer. Synchro is to optimize signal phases and EnViVer model to estimate the amount of greenhouse gas emissions by each condition. RESULTS : The result shows that unconventional intersections lead to increase the capacity and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, compared to existing intersections. CONCLUSIONS : Unconventional intersections have the ability to positively impact operations and environments as a low-cost and high-effectiveness countermeasure.

  • In this paper, we present a primitive system design of a super multi-view(SMV) 3-D display system based on a focused light array(FLA) concept using reflective vibrating scanner array(ViSA). The parallel beam scanning using a vibrating scanner array is performed by moving left and right an array of curvature-compensated mirrors or diamond-ruled reflective grating attached to a vibrating membrane. The parallel laser beam scanner array can replace the polygon mirror scanner which has been used in the SMV 3-D display system based on the focused light array(FLA) concept proposed by Kajiki at TAO(Telecommunications) Advancement Organization). The proposed system has great advantages in the sense that it requires neither huge imaging optics nor mechanical scanning pals. Some mathematical analyses and fundamental limitations of the proposed system are presented. The proposed vibrating scanner array, after some modifications and refinements, may replace polygon mirror-based scanners in the near future.

  • During the last decade, several Electronic Orientation Aids devices have been proposed to solve the autonomy problems of visually impaired people. When hearing is considered the primary sense for Visually Impaired people (VI) and it is generally loaded with the environment, the use of tactile sense can be considered a solution to transmit directional information. This paper presents a new wearable haptic system based on four motors implemented in shoes, while six directions can be played. This study aims to introduce an interface design and investigate an appropriate means of spatial information delivery through haptic sense. The first experiment of the proposed system was performed with 15 users in an indoor environment. The results showed that the users were able to recognize, with high accuracy, the directions displayed on their feet. The second experiment was conducted in an outdoor environment with five blindfolded users who were guided along 120 meters. The users, guided only by the haptic system, successfully reached their destinations. The potential of tactile-foot stimulation to help VI understand Electronic Orientation Aids (EOA) instructions was discussed, and future challenges were defined.

  • Aim of the paper is the definition of optimal design parameters characterizing the isolation system of a bridge, both in the case of elastomeric (VI) and sliding bearings (SI), having viscoelastic or rigid-plastic behavior, respectively, installed between the piers and the deck. The problem is treated by means of an analytical approach. Using the frequency response analysis, a simple procedure is proposed to determine the optimal value of the viscous coefficient or the yield displacement of the isolators. The adequacy of the proposed procedure is finally verified through time-history analyses performed on a practical case under natural earthquakes.

The key components of V2X technology include V2V (vehicle to vehicle), V2N(vehicle to network) and V2I (vehicle to infrastructure). This study is to design and implementation of VI type E-PTO which is interfaced with external equipments, the work designs the components of E-PTO such as DC/DC converter, DC/AC converter, battery bidirectional charging system etc. Also, it implements the devices and control systems for driving. The test results of VI type E-PTO components showed allowable 10% requirements of transient voltage variation rate and recovery time within 100ms for start/stop and normal operation.

  • The design of a telecentric f-${\theta}$ lens with a field of view (FOV) $30^{\circ}$ and an effective focal length of 1000mm is presented. The optical stop is placed at the front plane and the design is based on a geometric ray tracing technique, and the designed system consists of a series of convex and concave lenses. The designed f-${\theta}$ lens showed a considerable reduction in weight with a simplified structure and resulted in a good performance in the designated FOV. Detail analysis of rays is also presented. 653nm (red laser), 586nm (green laser), and 468nm (blue laser) were simulated as a light source and image illuminating source. The developed optical design requires 7 pieces of lenses made of SF1, N-FK56, N-LAK33, and BK7 glass materials. With optimal parametric design, the effective focal length was calculated to be 974.839mm which is very close to the initial design target. For the manufacturing purpose, the dimensions of lens curvature and thickness were truncated with error ranging 0.1% to 3.2%. As a result, the overall error was calculated to be 3.2% which can be still tolerable for display, laser material, and machining processing.

  • In this paper, we suggest the object-oriented methodology for the design and implementation scheme for the program development in the application of control and instrumentation such as the detection system of RFID defective tags which needs the embedded programming. We apply the design methodology of UML in the system design phase, and suggest the implementation scheme of LabVIEW programs using LVOOP(LabVIEW Object Oriented Programming)in which make it possible to write the object-oriented programming. We design the class diagram and the sequence diagram using UML, and write the classes of LVOOP from the designed class diagram and the main VI from the sequence diagram, respectively. We show that it is possible to develop the embedded programs such as the RFID application through the implementation example of the detection system of RFID defective tags in this paper. And, we obtain the advantages based on the object-oriented design and implementation using the LVOOP approach such as the development of LabVIEW programs by adding the classes and the concept of object of the object-oriented language to LabVIEW.
