Two-Phase flow pattern and pressure drop data were obtained for pure refrigerants R134a and R123 and their mixtures as test fluids in a horizontal tube. The flow pattern is observed through tubular sight glasses located at inlet and outlet of the test section. The flow map of Baker developed for air-water two-phase flow at atmospheric pressure failed to predict the observed flow patterns at the higher value of the mass velocity used in the present study. The map of Kattan et al. predicted the data well over the entire region of mass velocity selected in the present study. The measured pressure drop increased with an increase in vapor quality and mass velocity. A new two-phase multiplier was developed from a dimensional analysis of the frictional pressure drop data measured in the present experiment. This new multiplier was found successfully to correlate the frictional pressure drop.
The vortex-drift pattern over a girder surface, actually demonstrating the complex fluid-structure interactions between the structure and surrounding flow, is strongly correlated with the VIVs but has still not been elucidated and may be useful for modeling VIVs. The complex fluid-structure interactions between the structure and surrounding flow are considerably simplified in constructing a vortex model to describe the vortex-drift pattern characterized by the ratio of the vortex-drift velocity to the oncoming flow velocity, considering the aerodynamic work. A spring-suspended sectional model (SSSM) is used to measure the pressure in wind tunnel tests, and the aerodynamic parameters for a typical streamlined closed-box girder are obtained from the spatial distribution of the phase lags between the distributed aerodynamic forces at each pressure point and the vortex-excited forces (VEFs). The results show that the ratio of the vortex-drift velocity to the oncoming flow velocity is inversely proportional to the vibration amplitude in the lock-in region and therefore attributed to the "lock-in" phenomena of the VIVs. Installing spoilers on handrails can destroy the regular vortex-drift pattern along the girder surface and thus suppress vertical VIVs.
The transient nature and complex flow geometries of two-phase gas-liquid flows cause fundamental difficulties when measuring flow velocity using an electromagnetic flowmeter. Recently, a current-sensing flowmeter was introduced to obtain measurements with high temporal resolution (Ahn et $al.^{(1)}$). In this study, current-sensing flowmeter theory was applied to measure the fast velocity transients in slug flows. To do this, the velocity fields of axisymmetric gas-liquid slug flow in a vertical pipe were obtained using Volume-of-Fluid (VOF) method and the virtual potential distributions for the electrodes of finite size were also computed using the finite volume method for the simulated slug flow. The output signal prediction for slug flow was carried out from the velocity and virtual potential (or weight function) fields. The flowmeter was numerically calibrated to obtain the cross-sectional liquid mean velocity at an electrode plane from the predicted output signal. Two calibration parameters are required for this procedure: a flow pattern coefficient and a localization parameter. The flow pattern coefficient was defined by the ratio of the liquid resistance between the electrodes for two-phase flow with respect to that for single-phase flow, and the localization parameter was introduced to avoid errors in the flowmeter readings caused by liquid acceleration or deceleration around the electrodes. These parameters were also calculated from the computed velocity and virtual potential fields. The results can be used to obtain the liquid mean velocity from the slug flow signal measured by a current-sensing flowmeter.
Objective: To compare head and hand movement patterns during squash forehand motions between experts and less-skilled squash players. Method: Four experts and four less-skilled squash players participated in this study. They performed squash forehand swings and a VICON motion analysis system was used to obtain displacement and velocity data of the head and right hand during the movement. Mann-Whitney U-tests were performed to compare head and hand range of motion and peak velocity, and cross-correlation was performed to analyze the head-hand coordination pattern between groups in three movement directions. Results: In terms of head and hand kinematic data, experts had greater head range of motion during down swings than less-skilled squash players. Experts seemed to reach peak hand velocity at impact by reaching peak head velocity followed by hand peak velocity within a given temporal sequence. In terms of head-hand coordination patterns, both groups revealed high positive correlations in the medial-lateral direction, indicating a dominant allocentric coordination pattern. However, experts had uncoupled coordination patterns in the vertical direction and less-skilled squash players had high positive correlations. These results indicate that the head-hand movement pattern likely an important factor squash forehand movement. Conclusion: Analysis of head and hand movement patterns could be a key variable in squash training to reach expert-level performance.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the result of hardship performance of the propulsion speed on the flying carmel spins during a Figure Skating. The subjects were five the korea national representative players. Kinematic variables were analyzed 5frame of the excursion phase by the three-dimensional motion analysis system(60Hz). The obtained conclusion were as follows: In this study, during the propulsion classify two groups as "type I" the acceleration patterns S3, S4 and "type II" the uniform velocity group S1, S2, S5. The results of percentage comparative analysis between type I and type II can be summarized as below: the height of jump(24%), the height of COM(25%), the maximum speed of Roundhouse Kick(21%), the judging technical score(18%), the flight time(13%), the velocity of spins(4%), the distance of flight(-6%) Analysis of the results on performance variables, the velocity pattern of the type I showed comparatively excellence than that of type II.

In the crane control system, it is reguired that the travelling time of the crane must be reduced as much as possible and the swing must be stoped at the end point. In paper, we present a hybrid control method which include the optimal regulator and velocity pattern controller in order to make high performance of the anti-sway. To implement the control algorithm, the dynamic equation is linearlized at an equilibrium point, so that the liner time invariant state equation can be obtained. In order to experiment the crane control, we consider 1 over 10 of the gantry crane which is used in a port. As a result, the hybrid control method improve efficient anti-sway control more than conventional velocity pattern control. It is expected that the proposed system will make an important contribution to the industrial fields.
An experimental investigation on the flow pattern and pressure drop was carried out for both an adiabatic and a diabatic two-phase flow in a horizontal tube with pure refrigerants R134a and R123 and their mixtures as test fluids. The observed flow patterns were compared to the flow pattern map of Kattan et al., which predicted well the present data over the entire regions of mass velocity in this study. The measured frictional pressure drop in the adiabatic experiments increased with an increase in vapor quality and mass velocity These data were compared to various correlations proposed in the past for the frictional pressure drop. The Chisholm correlation underpredicted the present data both for pure fluids and their mixtures in the entire mass velocity range of 150 to 600 kg/m$^2$s covered in the measurements, white the Friedel correlation was found to overpredict the present data in the stratified and stratified-wavy flow region, and to underpredict in the annular flow region.
The purpose of this study is to understand the dissipation pattern of excess pore pressure after liquefaction which governs the post-liquefaction behavior of liquefied sand deposits. 1-g shaking table tests were carried out on 5 different kinds of sands, all of which had high liquefaction potentials. During the tests excess pore pressure at various depths, and surface settlements were measured. The measured curve of the excess pore pressure dissipation was simulated using the solidification theory, and from the analysis of the velocity of dissipation, the dissipation pattern of excess pore pressure after liquefaction was examined. The dissipation velocity of excess pore pressure after liquefaction had a linear correlation with the effective grain size ( $D_{10}$) divided by the coefficient of uniformity ( $C_{u}$), and the increase in the initial relative density of the ground played a role in shifting this correlation curve toward an increased dissipation velocity. From the correlation, an approximate method was recommended for prediction of the dissipation curve of excess pore pressure after liquefaction in saturated sand deposits.s.s.
This study uses two numerical approaches to analyze the filling behavior of micro patterns on micro-injection molding for V-grooves pattern which cannot be simulated with conventional CAE packages. The parametric studies have been performed to examine the fidelity of micro patterns with respect to temperature, pressure, inlet velocity and pattern location on the mold according to the boundary condition from the macro pressure and velocity data which can be obtained by conventional CAE packages. Through these numerical approaches, the filling behavior of polymer melt in micro patterns can be understood, the quality of replication can be predicted, and the V-groove pattern can be shaped uniformly during the process of injection molding.
