The source/channel/drain regions are formed by ion implantation with different dopant types of $n^+/p^{(+)}/n^+$ in the fabrication of the conventional n-type metal-oxide-semiconductor field effect transistor(NMOSFET). In implementing the ultra-small devices with channel length of sub-30 nm, in order to achieve the designed effective channel length accurately, low thermal budget should be considered in the fabrication processes for minimizing the lateral diffusion of dopants although the implanted ions should be activated as completely as possible for higher on-current level. Junctionless (JL) MOSFETs fully capable of the the conventional NMOSFET operations without p-type channel for enlarging the process margin are under researches. In this paper, the optimum design of the JL MOSFET based on silicon nanowire (SNW) structure is carried out by 3-D device simulation and the basic radio frequency (RF) characteristics such as conductance, maximum oscillation frequency($f_{max}$), current gain cut-off frequency($f_T$) for the optimized device. The channel length was 30 run and the design variables were the channel doping concentration and SNW radius. For the optimally designed JL SNW NMOSFET, $f_T$ and $f_{max}$ high as 367.5 GHz and 602.5 GHz could be obtained, respectively, at the operating bias condition $V_{GS}$ = $V_{DS}$ = 1.0 V).

Lightning impulse $(1.2/44[\mus])$ and damped oscillating impulse $(Osc./44[\mus])$ : 0.83[MHz]) breakdown characteristics in sulphur-hexafluoride/nitrogen (SF6-N2) mixtures were investigated. The predischarge currents were observed to clarify the breakdown mechanism. th experiments were carried out under nonuniform electric fields disturbed by a needle-shaped protrusion whose length and diameter are 10[mm] and 1[mm] at total gas pressure up to 0.5[MPa] with nitrogen concentrations varying from 5 to 20[%] in the mixture. The electrical breakdowns of SF6-N2 mixtures for both the positive and negative polarities develop with steplike pulses in leader mechanism and the breakdown voltage -time (V-t) characteristics were affected by the space charge. The voltage-time curves for the negative oscillating impulse voltage were extended over the longer time range. The minimum breakdown voltages for the negative lightning and oscillating impulse voltage were higher than those for the positive ones. in particular the positive breakdown voltages were independent of the gas pressure.

For practical electrical insulation design of high temperature superconducting (HTS) power apparatuses, knowledge of the dielectric behavior of insulators in cryogenic liquid such as liquid nitrogen ($LN_2$) is essential. So in this paper, we discussed experimental investigations of breakdown and V-t characteristics of several insulators such as Kapton and glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) that are candidates of insulator for HTS apparatus in cryogenic liquid. And we investigated the degradation of these insulation samples after breakdown with the microscope and SEM photograph. Moreover, survival and hazard analysis were performed.
The influence of quenching temperature and annealing time on superconducting characteristics has been investigated for a $(Pb_{0.6}V_{0.4})Sr_2(Ca_{0.65}Er_{0.35})Cu_2O_z$ compound. From the resistivity measurements for samples annealed at $400^{\circ}C$ to $860^{\circ}C$ in oxygen and subsequently quenched, it is observed that $T_c$(zero) of the sample decreases with the increase of annealing temperature up to $600^{\circ}C$ and increases again beyond $700^{\circ}C$. Annealings of the sample at $860^{\circ}C$ show that $T_c$(zero) goes through a maximum of 62K with the increase of the annealing time. It is also found that $T_c$(zero) of the sample quenched from high temperature decreases when the sample is subjected to low temperature annealing below. $600^{\circ}C$ in oxygen. The experimental results indicate that the as-prepared samples contain excessive oxygen and removal of this excessive oxygen in as-prepared samples is a key factor in controlling the superconducting properties of the samples and are discussed in connection with thermal gravimetric measurements.
In this paper, we propose a new PNP bipolar insertion type ESD protection circuit with improved electrical characteristics than the existing ESD protection circuits SCR and LVTSCR. The proposed circuit has 8.59V trigger voltage which is about 9V lower than that of the conventional SCR, and the parasitic PNP has one more operation and high robustness characteristics. For the practical design of the proposed ESD protection circuit, the holding voltage was increased by increasing the base length of the parasitic PNP while increasing the variable L. To verify the electrical characteristics of the proposed device, Synopsys T-CAD simulator was used.
Differently from BSCCO tapes which are fabricated by powder-in-tube method, the coated conductors are made by the evaporation of YBCO on metal substrate. Due to this structural merit, although the coated conductors are generally used for large current transportation, they are expected to be favorable to the purpose of the fault current limitation as well. In this study, using YBCO coated conductor having copper stabilizer formed by plating technique(produced by Superpower Co.), we investigated the over-current characteristics of the coated conductor. The coated conductors had 85 A $I_c$ and 90 K $T_c$. The resistance of the conductor was 0.93 $m{\Omega}/cm$ at 300 K and 0.17 $m{\Omega}/cm$ at the temperature right above $T_c$. To the coated conductors, we applied the voltages of the range from 150 $V_{rms}$ to 230 $V_{rms}$ and measured the V-I curves using four probe method. From the results, we could analyze the electric behavior of the coated conductor in flux flow state. As the current exceed $I_c$, the currents were distributed into the superconductor and metal stabilizer. The amounts of the currents shared through both current paths were calculated under the assumption that the ,Joule heating was perfectly eliminated by $LN_2$ surrounding the conductor. Finally, the condition for the stable current flowing state which does not affect the conductor was established from the analysis on the over-current characteristics.
Performance of an image retrieval system is usually very low because of the semantic gap between the low level feature and the high level concept in a query image. Semantically relevant images may exhibit very different visual characteristics, and may be scattered in several clusters. In this paper, we propose a content based image rertrieval approach which combines region based image retrieval and a new relevance feedback method using adaptive clustering together. Our main goal is finding semantically related clusters to narrow down the semantic gap. Our method consists of region based clustering processes and cluster-merging process. All segmented regions of relevant images are organized into semantically related hierarchical clusters, and clusters are merged by finding the number of the latent clusters. This method, in the cluster-merging process, applies r: using v principal components instead of classical Hotelling's $T_v^2$ [1] to find the unknown number of clusters and resolve the singularity problem in high dimensions and demonstrate that there is little difference between the performance of $T^2$ and that of $T_v^2$. Experiments have demonstrated that the proposed approach is effective in improving the performance of an image retrieval system.

Pt-V catalytic converter was installed on a heavy duty diesel engine and the characteristics of the emission reduction were tested using a engine dynamometer at various operating conditions. The emission reduction performance of Pt-V catalyst was also compared with that of a commercialized Pt catalyst currently being used in some of the heavy duty diesel engines in advanced countries. The effects of Pt-V and Pt catalysts on regulated and unregulated emissions were investigated using a 0.05 weight percent sulfur content fuel with an engine dynamometer Experiments for gaseous emissions (CO, HC and aldehyde) as well as particulate emissions (TPM, SOF and sulfate) have been conducted at several operating conditions such as T-7 mode, D-13 mode and S-13 mode before and after installing the Pt-V and Pt catalysts in the exhaust system. The emission reduction performance of Pt catalyst with respect to CO, HC, SOF, PAHs and aldehyde was found to be a little higher than that of Pt-V catalyst, but the Pt catalyst showed innate disadvantage of causing an increase of PM due to the sulfate formation via high SO2 conversion at high exhaust temperature, especially above 45$0^{\circ}C$.

An experimental investigation of the machining characteristics such as cutt- ing resistance, surface roughness and tool wear in turning the test pieces of SM45C steel with both coated and uncoated carbide tool tips under various cutting conditions was conducted. Also a specially designed simple vibration damping device was experimentally evaluated for its effectiveness on machined surface roughness and a vibration test was conducted to confirm its ability to reduce the amplitude. Based on these tests finding, the following conclusions are made; 1. The cutting resistance($\textrm{p}_{1}$) increases as the depth of cut(d) increases at fixed feed rate(f) over the cutting speed(v) range of 43-226 m/min and p decreses about 18% average when V is increased for fixed d and f. At V= 226m/min, $\textrm{p}_{1}$/for A, C tips are about the same level but $\textrm{p}_{1}$ for B tip is 15% less than A, C tips. 2. The specific cutting resistance(Ks) at V=226 m/min was derived for A, B, C tips respectively and the value of Ks for B rip is about 20% less than A, C tips. 3. The surface roughness(Ra) improves significantly as the cutting speed(V) is increased and this effect was greater when V>100 m/min. On the other hand, Ra deteriorates as the feed rate(f) is increased and this trend was accelerated when f>0.3 mm/rev. With regard to the difference of Ra values among A, B, C tips, at V=226m/min, d=0.4mm, and f=0.31-0.61mm/rev, Ra values for B.C tips are about 17% less than tip A. 4. The experimental tool wear equations were derived for A, B, C tips and from these equations, the tool life($\textrm{T}_{\textrm{L}}$) baced on the I.S.O. criteria was calculated to be $\textrm{T}_{\textrm{L}}$<$\textrm{T}_{\textrm{LB}}$<$\textrm{T}_{\textrm{LC}}$ for both flank wear($\textrm{V}_{\textrm{B}}$) and boundary wear($\textrm{V}_{\textrm{N}}$). Hence, the coated tips are superior to the uncoated tip and tip C is considered to be the best. 5. The cutting resistance may be slightly reduced and the surface rounghness improved when the damper is used especially when V>100 m/min. Therefore this damping device is considered to be effective and practical. The experimental surface roughness equations were also derived. Based on the vibration test, it is established that the surface roughness improvement was the result of amplitude reduction made possible by the damper.
A portable HTS RF SQUID-based system, weighing less than 20 kg has been built for susceptometry applications in weak magnetic fields, It includes a YBCO sensor for measuring the axial magnetic field component with a resolution of about $7{\times}10^{-13} T/Hz^{1/2}.$ This is determined by the intrinsic magnetic noise in the quasi-white noise region. There is a relaxation for a sudden increase in field due to magnetic flux creep in HTS. In this instance the time did not exceed 3~5 minutes.
