Outage Analysis of OFDM-Based Cognitive AF Relay Network in the Presence of Narrowband Interference

  • Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) is one of the most widely used technologies in current wireless communication systems and standards. Cognitive radio (CR) provides a robust solution to the problem of spectrum congestion as it offers opportunistic usage of frequency bands that are not occupied by primary users. Due to the underlying sensing, spectrum shaping, scaling, and interoperable capabilities of OFDM, it has been adapted as a best transmission technology for CR wireless systems. However, the performance of an OFDM-based CR wireless system is affected by the existence of narrowband interference (NBI) from other users. Further, due to carrier frequency offset in NBI sources, NBI energy may spread over all subcarriers of an OFDM signal. In this paper, a fixed Amplify-and-Forward (AF) relay that operates at a frequency band that is different from that of direct mode is introduced to suppress the effect of NBI. Analytical expressions are derived for outage probability in direct, AF-relay, and incremental relaying modes. The outage performance of the proposed AF relay-based CR network is proven to be better than that of direct mode.

A stress field approach for the shear capacity of RC beams with stirrups

  • This paper presents a stress field approach for the shear capacity of stirrup-reinforced concrete beams that explicitly incorporates the contribution of principal tensile stresses in concrete. This formulation represents an extension of the variable strut inclination method adopted in the Eurocode 2. In this model, the stress fields in web concrete consist of principal compressive stresses inclined at an angle θ combined with principal tensile stresses oriented along a direction orthogonal to the former (the latter being typically neglected in other formulations). Three different failure mechanisms are identified, from which the strut inclination angle and the corresponding shear strength are determined through equilibrium principles and the static theorem of limit analysis, similar to the EC-2 approach. It is demonstrated that incorporating the contribution of principal tensile stresses of concrete slightly increases the ultimate inclination angle of the compression struts as well as the shear capacity of reinforced concrete beams. The proposed stress field approach improves the prediction of the shear strength in comparison with the Eurocode 2 model, in terms of both accuracy (mean) and precision (CoV), as demonstrated by a broad comparison with more than 200 published experimental results from the literature.

  • A numerical technique for fluid-structure interaction, which is based on the finite element method (FEM) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD), was developed for application to an industrial chimney equipped with a pendulum tuned mass damper (TMD). In order to solve the structural problem, a one-dimensional beam model (Navier-Bernoulli) was considered and, for the dynamical problem, the standard second-order Newmark method was used. Navier-Stokes equations for incompressible flow are solved in several horizontal planes to determine the pressure in the boundary of the corresponding cross-section of the chimney. Forces per unit length were obtained by integrating the pressure and are introduced in the structure using standard FEM interpolation techniques. For the fluid problem, a fractional step scheme based on a second order pressure splitting has been used. In each fluid plane, the displacements have been taken into account considering an Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian approach. The stabilization of convection and diffusion terms is achieved by means of quasi-static orthogonal subscales. For each period of time, the fluid problem was solved and the geometry of the mesh of each fluid plane is updated according to the structure displacements. Using this technique, along-wind and across-wind effects have been properly explained. The method was applied to an industrial chimney in three scenarios (with or without TMD and for different damping values) and for two wind speeds, showing different responses.

Taguchi 법에 의한 흑목이버섯의 항산화활성 증진을 위한 열수추출 최적화 (Optimization of Hot Water Extraction for Enhancing Antioxidative Activity from Auricularia auricula Using Taguchi Approach)

  • Optimization study of the hot water extraction for enhancing antioxidative activity from Auricularia auricula was performed by Taguchi approach using orthogonal matrix $L_9(3^4)$ method. The correlation between DPPH radical scavenging activity and the components of samples extracted from different extraction conditions were also analyzed. The correlation coefficient between DPPH radical scavenging activity and melanin content of A. auricula were 0.93, indicating 'good correlation'. The optimum extraction conditions was obtained at the extraction time of 1 hr. temperature of $85^{\circ}C$, solid: water ratio of 1: 40(w/v) and frequency of 2 times. Under these conditions, values of maximum DPPH free radical scavenging activity and melanin contents of A. auricula were $67.21{\pm}2.17$ and $52.94{\pm}2.10 mg/g$, respectively. Melanin content of 1.6 times and DPPH free radical scavenging effect of 130% were enhanced by optimization.

무선 랜 모뎀용 저전력 FFT/IFFT프로세서 설계 (Low-power FFT/IFFT Processor for Wireless LAN Modem)

  • OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) 기반의 무선 랜 모뎀에 사용되는 고속/저전력 64-점 FFT/IFFT 프로세서 코어를 설계하였다. Radix-2/4/8 DIF (Decimation-In-Frequency) FFT 알고리듬을 R2SDF (Radix-2 Single-path Delay Feedback) 구조에 적용하여 설계하였으며, 내부 데이터 흐름 특성에 대한 분석을 토대로 데이터 패스의 불필요한 switching activity를 제거함으로써 전력소모를 최소화하였다. 회로 레벨에서는 내부의 상수 곱셈기와 복소수 곱셈기를 절사형(truncated) 구조로 설계하여 칩 면적과 전력소모가 감소되도록 하였다. Verilog-HDL로 설계된 64점 FFT/IFFT 코어는 0.25-$\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS 셀 라이브러리로 합성한 결과, 약 28,100 게이트로 합성되었으며, 추출된 게이트 레벨 netlist와 SDF를 이용한 타이밍 시뮬레이션 결과, 50-MHz@2.5-V로 안전하게 동작하는 것으로 검증되어 64점 FFT/IFFT 연산에 1.3-${\mu}\textrm{s}$가 소요될 것으로 예상된다. 설계된 코어를 FPGA에 구현하여 다양한 테스트 벡터로 동작시킨 결과 정상 동작함을 확인하였으며, 50-dB 이상의 신호대잡음비(SNR) 성능과 50-MHz@2.5-V 동작조건에서 약 69.3-mW의 평균 전력모소를 나타내었다.

호흡 동조 췌장 암 용적 세기조절 회전 치료 시 Inter-fraction Intra-fraction 분석 (Analysis of inter-fraction and intra-fraction errors during volumetric modulated arc therapy in Pancreas Ca)

  • 목 적 : 췌장 환자 방사선 치료 중 기점(Fiducial) 대상 내부 및 외부 종양 움직임의 오차를 정량화 하고자 한다. 또한 cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) 를 기반으로 호흡 시 췌장의 움직임 분석하고자 한다. 대상 및 방법 : 용적 세기변조 회전조사 (V-MAT)를 적용, 정위적 방사선 치료를 국소 진행성 췌장암 환자 11명을 대상으로 하였다. CBCT 및 직교 투시이미지를 적용하여 기점(Fiducial Marker)의 Inter, intra-fraction 움직임 변화를 치료 전, 치료 진행 시 분석하였다. 결 과 : 치료 후 프로토콜을 오프라인 교정 프로토콜을 사용하여, CBCT 와 직교투시 간의 평균 오차(범위)는 0.0(-1.7~4.0), 0.3(-0.5~3.0) and 0.0(-4.1~6.6)mm 측방 (LR), 세로 (AP) 및 종 방향 (SI) 이였다. 무작위 Inter-fraction Setup 오차 결과는 -0.1, -2.3 and -1.1 mm: 95% Fiducial포함 마진은 각 9.9, 7.8, 12.5mm로 수식되었다. 결 론 : 위 분석으로 뼈 일치 정렬 후 잔류 불확실성이 있으며, SI 방향에 큰 임의의 움직임은 적합한 여백이 필요하다. 주변 내부 장기를 보호, 내부 장기 문제점을 최소화, 호흡편차를 고려, 치료 시 정기적으로 측정하여야 한다.

전립선암의 소분할 방사선치료 시에 위치표지자 삽입의 유용성 (Clinical Usefulness of Implanted Fiducial Markers for Hypofractionated Radiotherapy of Prostate Cancer)

  • 목 적: 전립선암의 소분할 방사선치료에서 골반뼈를 기준으로 한 준비자세(setup)와 전립선에 삽입된 위치표지자(fiducial marker)를 이용한 준자세를 비교하였다. 대상 및 방법: 2009년 9월부터 2010년 8월까지 전립선암으로 근치적 소분할 방사선치료를 받은 4명의 환자를 대상으로 하였다. 방사선치료 1주일 전경에 경직장초음파 검사 하여 3개의 위치표지자를 직장을 통하여 전립선에 삽입하였다. 방사선치료계획용 컴퓨터단층촬영과 매 방사선치료 전에 직장 관장을 하였다. 소분할 방사선치료는 노발리스 장치를 이용하여, 매일 3.5 Gy씩 총 59.5 Gy를 계획하였다. 분할조사 전에 서로 수직인 두 방향의 kV X-선을 촬영하여 얻은 영상의 위치표지자와 방사선치료계획의 디지털재구성사진에서 관찰되는 위치표지자를 융합하여, 환자의 자세를 조정하고 준비자세를 하였다. 위치표지자 기준 준비자세에서 방사선치료계획의 디지털재구성사진과 kV X-선 영상의 골반뼈를 가상적으로 융합하여, 골반뼈 기준 준비자세를 구하였다. 결 과: 67회의 분할조사를 분석하였다. 위치표지자 기준 준비자세에서 방사선치료 중심점과의 3차원적 위치 차이의 평균은 $0.94{\pm}0.62$ mm (범위, 0.09~3.01 mm; 중앙값 0.81 mm)였고 좌우, 상하, 전후 방향으로 위치 차이의 평균은 각각 $0.39{\pm}0.34$ mm, $0.46{\pm}0.34$ mm, $0.57{\pm}0.59$ mm였다. 골반뼈 기준 준비자세에서 방사선치료 중심점과의 3차원적 위치 차이의 평균은 $3.15{\pm}2.03$ mm (범위, 0.25~8.23; 중앙값, 2.95 mm)였고, 상하 방향의 위치 차이(평균, $2.29{\pm}1.95$ mm)가 전후(평균, $1.73{\pm}1.31$ mm), 좌우(평균 $0.45{\pm}0.37$ mm) 방향보다 유의하게 컸다(p<0.05). 위치표지자 기준 준비자세와 골반뼈 기준 준비자세들에서 방사선치료 중심점과의 3차원적 위치 차이가 3 mm 이상이었던 경우는 전체 분할방사선조사 횟수의 1.5%와 49.3%였고, 5 mm 이상이었던 경우가 각각 0%, 17.9%였다. 결 론: 위치표지자를 이용하여 보다 정확하게 준비자세를 함으로써 계획용표적체적의 여유를 줄일 수 있고, 따라서 전립선 주변의 정상조직에 대한 방사선량을 감소시켜 보다 안전하게 소분할 방사선치료를 할 수 있을 것으로 예상된다.

Nano-engineered concrete using recycled aggregates and nano-silica: Taguchi approach

  • This paper investigates the influence of various mix design parameters on the characteristics of concrete containing recycled coarse aggregates and Nano-Silica using Taguchi method. The present study adopts Water-cement ratio, Recycled Coarse Aggregate (%), Maximum cement content and Nano-Silica (%) as factors with each one having three different levels. Using the above mentioned control parameters with levels an Orthogonal Array (OA) matrix experiments of L9 (34) has selected and nine number of concrete mixes has been prepared. Compressive Strength, Split Tensile Strength, Flexural Tensile Strength, Modulus of Elasticity and Non-Destructive parameters are selected as responses. Experimental results are analyzed and the optimum level for each response is predicted. Analysis of 28 days CS depicts that NS (%) is the most significant factor among all factors. Analysis of the tensile strength results indicates that the effect of control factor W/C ratio is ranked one and then NS (%) is ranked two which suggests that W/C ratio and NS (%) have more influence as compared to other two factors. However, the factor that affects the modulus of elasticity most is found to be RCA (%). Finally, validation experiments have been carried out with the optimal mixture of concrete with Nano-Silica for the desired engineering properties of recycled aggregate concrete. Moreover, the comparative study of the predicted and experimental results concludes that errors between both experimental and predicted values are within the permissible limits. This present study highlights the application of Taguchi method as an efficient tool in determining the effects of constituent materials in mix proportioning of concrete.

Dynamic Bias Switching을 이용한 3.5 GHz Balanced Power Amplifier의 효율 개선 (Efficiency Enhancement for the 3.5 GHz Balanced Power Amplifier Using Dynamic Bias Switching)

  • 본 논문에서는 3.5 GHz에 설계된 balanced amplifier에 DBS(Dynamic Bias Switching)를 적용하여 평균 전력에서 효율을 개선하였다. DBS는 입력 신호의 포락선 크기에 따라 전력 증폭기에 두 단계의 드레인 전압을 인가하여 효율을 개선하는 기술로써 balanced amplifier에 DBS를 적용하기 위해서 동일하게 구성된 DBS 회로를 각 단에 설치하여 실제 제작하였다. 20 MHz 대역폭과 8.5 dB의 PAR(Peak to Average Ratio)을 갖는 OFDM 신호를 사용하여 측정한 결과, 28 V 단일 드레인 전압을 사용했을 때보다 42.5 dBm에서 6 %의 PAE 개선을 나타냈다.

Effects of Tubulyzines, Novel Microtubule-Binding Triazine Molecules, on Endothelial Progenitor Cell Differentiation

  • Microtubule-binding molecules have been developed as anti-cancer agents to overcome the toxicities of current chemotherapeutics and also have potential for use as anti-angiogenic agents. In this work, we examined the effect of novel triazine compounds, Tubulyzines (microTUBUle LYsing triaZINE), derived from the orthogonal synthesis of a triazine library, on endothelial progenitor cell differentiation. When mononuclear cells isolated from human cord blood were cultured on fibronectin-coated plates for 7 days, all the Tubulyzine compounds A, B, and C (TA, TB, and TC) tested decreased the number of adherent cells in a dose-dependent manner in a coo. centration ranges of 2-5 to $80\mu\textrm{M}$. TA ($IC_{50}$=$20\mu\textrm{M}$) showed slightly more potent activity than TB and TC. Adherent cells treated with TA also exhibited a lower level of ability to ac-LDL uptake, with low ratios of positive cells out of total adherent cells, in a dose-dependent manner and weak expression of endothelial lineage markers, KDR, CD31, and vWF at $20\mu\textrm{M}$. Therefore, these results suggest that tubulyzine A (TA) can be effectively used for the inhibition of new vessel growth by inhibiting differentiation of endothelial progenitor cells.
