We implemented a system being able to suggest example sentences for multiple choice tests, considering the level of students. To build the system, we designed an automatic method for sentence generation, which made it possible to control the difficulty degree of questions. For the proper evaluation in the multiple choice tests, proper size of question pools is required. To satisfy this requirement, a system which can generate various and numerous questions and their example sentences in a fast way should be used. In this paper, we designed an automatic generation method using a linguistic resource called WordNet. For the automatic generation, firstly, we extracted keywords from the existing sentences with the morphological analysis and candidate terms with similar meaning to the keywords in Korean WordNet space are suggested. When suggesting candidate terms, we transformed the existing Korean WordNet scheme into a new scheme to construct the concept similarity matrix. The similarity degree between concepts can be ranged from 0, representing synonyms relationships, to 9, representing non-connected relationships. By using the degree, we can control the difficulty degree of newly generated questions. We used two methods for evaluating semantic similarity between two concepts. The first one is considering only the distance between two concepts and the second one additionally considers positions of two concepts in the Korean Wordnet space. With these methods, we can build a system which can help the instructors generate new questions and their example sentences with various contents and difficulty degree from existing sentences more easily.

In this study, lining thickness distribution and its behind state (particularly, its void state) were analyzed using the GPR survey data performed on three currently operating NATM tunnels. Results of GPR analysis showed that void areas were mostly detected between concrete lining and primary support, particularly, near the crown of the tunnels. The lining thickness in the left-hand side of the tunnel was different from that of the right-hand side by 8.6~253.5 mm when measured in transverse direction. It was also found that longitudinal cracks were prevailed in the area lining thickness was sharply changed. Longitudinal thickness distribution at the crown was also studied and tested by performing 3 goodness-of-fit tests in order to find the most suitable thickness distribution. Normal distribution (or similar distribution) fit most suitably to the measured data if the measured average thickness was larger than designed one; Gamma and/or Inverse Gauss distribution fit to the measured data reasonably well if the measured average thickness was less than the designed value of thickness. Since actual lining thickness can be a potential index when assessing the state and safety of the unreinforced NATM tunnel lining, measuring of the lining thickness with GPR survey might be needed rather than assuming the thickness is always constant and same with the designed value.

It is essential to predict ground conditions ahead of a tunnel face in order to successfully excavate tunnels using a shield TBM. This study proposes a forward prediction method for a mixed soil ground and/or a ground containing core stones by using electrical resistivity and induced polarization exploration. Soil conditioning in EPB shield TBM is dependent upon the composition of mixed soils; a special care need to be taken when excavating the core-stoned soil ground using TBM. The resistivity and chargeability are assumed to be measured with four electrodes at the tunnel face, whenever the excavation is stopped to assemble one ring of a segment lining. Firstly, the mixed ground consisting of weathered granite soil, sand, and clay was modeled in laboratory-scale experiments. Experimental results show that the measured electrical resistivity considerably coincides with the analytical solution. On the other hand, the induced polarization has either same or opposite trend with the measured resistivity depending on the mixed ground conditions. Based on these experimental results, a method to predict the mixed soil ground that can be used during TBM tunnel driving is suggested. Secondly, tunnel excavation from a homogeneous ground to a ground containing core stones was modeled in laboratory scale; the irregularity of the core stones contained in the soil layer was modeled through random number generation scheme. Experimental results show that as the TBM approaches the ground that contains core stones, the electrical resistivity increases and the induced polarization fluctuates.
In this study, we propose that the structures of spiral inductors have the environment advantage utilizing direct-write and LAM(Laser Ablation of Microparticles) processes without process step of lithography and etching etc. of existing semiconductor process. The structures of inductors have Si thickness of 540${\mu}m$, $SiO_2$ thickness of 3${\mu}m$. The width of Cu coils and the space between segments have 30${\mu}m$, respectively, using for direct-write and LAM processes. The performance of spiral planar inductors was simulated to frequency characteristics for inductance, quality-factor, SRF(Self- Resonance Frequency) using HFSS. The inductors without underpass and via have inductance of 1.11nH over the frequency range of 300 to 800 MHz, quality-factor of maximum 38 at 5 GHz, SRF of 18 GHz. Otherwise, inductors with underpass and via have inductance of 1.12nH over the frequency range of 300 to 800 MHz, quality-factor of maximum 35 at 5 GHz, SRF of 16 GHz.

Today the issue of deterioration of industrial complexes that are located close to life space of residents has been raised as a cause of threats to the safety of local communities. In this study, in order to improve the current risk analysis and scope of community notification, simulated threat zones were comparatively analyzed by utilizing the threat zones of alternative accident scenarios and modes of seasonal weather, and the area with a high probability of damage upon the leakage of toxic substances was predicted by examining wind directions observed at each time slot for each season. In addition, limit evacuation time and minimum separation distance to minimize casualties were suggested, and a proposal to enable more reasonable safety measures for on-site workers and nearby residents made by reviewing the risk management plan currently utilized for emergency response.
Obesity affects various kinds of adult diseases and is a principal cause of injuring people's health. Physical activities are very important to solve the obesity problem and green spaces are good place to take physical activities. In order to examine the utilization of green spaces for physical activities to improve health, the survey was implemented in regards to recognition of health, forms of use of green spaces for physical activities. Only 8.1% of respondents didn't care about health, but 91.9% of them were interested in health more than 'commonness'. 95.2% of respondents knew that obesity has an effect on various adult diseases, and 93.1% of respondents cognized that it's possible to prevent obesity by doing physical activities. More than half of respondents replied that the types of green spaces utilized for physical activities were small-scale neighborhood parks and mini parks around house. About 70% of respondents took walking as a type of physical activities. 53% of respondents utilized green spaces one or two times a week, while 25% of them utilized the places at least three times a week to take physical activities. 91.8% of respondents took exercise for more than 30 minutes. These results are expected to promote health because many experts encourage people to take physical activities at least three times a week because fats of human body begins to bum after 30 minutes from start of physical activities. In the utilizing time of green spaces, evening or after work(56.7%) was higher than morning or before work(35.1%). 71% of respondents usually visited green spaces by walking. This study shows green spaces are good places for physical activities and have boundless potentialities improving people's health.

This paper presents damage detection and estimation of stiffness parameter on a concrete scale model and a real structure of concrete pontoon using dynamic properties such as mode shapes and natural frequencies. In case of damage detection, dynamic impact test on a concrete scale model is accomplished to extract mode shapes and the practicality is verified by utilizing a damage detection technique. And the stiffness parameter of a real structure of concrete pontoon was estimated via system identification technique using the natural frequencies of the structure. The results indicate that the damaged elements of the scale model are found exactly using damage detection technique and the effective stiffness property of the real structure of concrete pontoon can be estimated by system identification technique.

In this paper, a commercial phosphorescent white light-emitting diode (WLED) visible light communication (VLC) system with an equalization circuit to achieve the high modulation bandwidth was designed and demonstrated. An analytical method to examine the performance of the equalizer was carried out using a general circuit-simulator, PSpice. The equalization circuit was composed of two passive filters with resisters and a capacitor and an active filter with an op-amp. Utilizing our post-equalization technology, the ~3.5 MHz bandwidth of phosphor WLED could be extended to ~25 MHz without using an optical blue-filter. In this VLC system with a single round-type WLED and a single PIN photo-diode, ASK data transmission up to 35 Mbps at a 1m free space distance was obtained. The resulting bit-error-rate was $7.6{\times}10^{-4}$, which is less than the forward error correction (FEC) limit of $3.8{\times}10^{-3}$.

Many classical network analysis methods approach networks in aspatial perspectives. Measuring network reliability and finding critical nodes in particular, the analyses consider only network connection topology ignoring spatial components in the network such as node attributes and edge distances. Using local network autocorrelation measure, this study handles the problem. By quantifying similarity or clustering of individual objects' attributes in space, local autocorrelation measures can indicate significance of individual nodes in a network. As an application, this study analyzed internet backbone networks in the United States using both classical disjoint product method and Getis-Ord local G statistics. In the process, two variables (population size and reliability) were applied as node attributes. The results showed that local network autocorrelation measures could provide local clusters of critical nodes enabling more empirical and realistic analysis particularly when research interests were local network ranges or impacts.
